US Constitution Amendment 14

Section 3.

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, ... or hold any office, ... under the United States, ... who, having previously taken an oath, ... to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, ... (http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/amendmentxiv)

The NDAA and the Patriot Act, etc. are laws designed to overthrow the authority and rule of the Constitution. As such they are insurrection and rebellion against the Constitution. Anyone passing these bills or signing them into law, without first amending the Constitution to make it legal would be guilty.

One of three Congressmen to whom this email was sent...

Mr. Bilirakis,
I contacted your office several times over the past months. The theme has been the Constitution and protection of our inalienable rights. I asked you to vote to repeal portions of the Patriot Act, to vote against SOPA, to remove 1st and 4th amendment violations from the NDAA 2012, to reign in the TSA, and others, to vote against CISPA, and most recently to vote for the Smith-Amash amendment to the NDAA 2013. All this to prevent the Executive Branch from its continued encroachment on our rights. It seems that every time the President picks up a pen, its to strike at our sovereignty and remove our Constitutionally protected rights. You swore an Oath of Office to defend the Constitution against all enemies. I sense our greatest enemies to the Constitution are not foreign, but right here in the United States, mainly in Washington. We can no longer afford to be ruled by fear, or fearmongers. Sir, you have betrayed your oath by not rising to defend our liberties. I think you would rather I work in your support....for I am tireless. Now, please reconsider your priorities, and realign them with the Constitution so that you may better serve your constituents. Thank you, Dave Wilcox, US Navy retired

Bilirakis' reply

And here was his reply...am I satisfied? Hell no! (but, at least he replied)

Dear David:

Thank you for contacting me to share your support for protecting and adhering to the United States Constitution. I appreciate hearing from you.

I believe very strongly that we should adhere to and respect the wise words of our Founding Fathers as put forward in the Constitution. I do not believe that this brilliant document should be interpreted, or misinterpreted, to justify moving away from the original intent of those who created it.

I believe that it is more important than ever, given today's troubled times, that we adhere to the intent of those who wrote the Constitution and respect its separation and limitation of powers. Failure to do so would be both unwise and unwarranted, leading to an erosion of our basic rights that the Constitution guarantees. I greatly respect the responsibility I have as a Member of Congress to uphold the Constitution. The federal government too often - especially recently - has acted in ways that push the limits of its Constitutional authority, over my objections. You may be certain that I will remember your thoughts about upholding the Constitution as I serve in Congress. I will also share your comments with my House colleagues. I am certain they will benefit from your views.

As a resident of Florida's Ninth District, your comments and opinions are an important source of information to help me carry out my duties as your federal representative. In that regard, please do not hesitate to contact me in the future on any issue important to you. Also, if you would like to be informed more frequently about my work in Congress and in Florida's Ninth Congressional District, please visit my website at http://www.bilirakis.house.gov to sign up for regular email or to send me a message.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me.

Sincerely yours,

Gus M. Bilirakis
Member of Congress

Play by the rules, but be resolute in our pursuit of our liberty and freedom. We need to use the rules to bind our opponents.

Renee Ellmers

Renee Ellmers sent me this letter:

Dear XXX XXXXXX,

As you may know, H.R. 1540 was introduced by Representative Buck McKeon (R-CA) on April 14, 2011. This legislation authorized appropriations for military activities of the Department of Defense (DoD) for 2012. H.R. 1540 enhances national security, helps modernized the Armed Forces, and continues funding for ongoing operations in Afghanistan.

I believe strongly that the most fundamental responsibility of government is to provide for a common defense, which is why passage of this legislation is so critical to our national security. At a time when extremist groups continue to plot against us, America must fully fund our men and women in uniform.

Regarding the provisions having to do with detainees, there has been some misinformation. The final version of the bill not only contains protections for US citizens, but states that foreign Al Qaida terrorists caught in the act of invoking violence against Americans can be detained by the military. The bill allows the President to waive military detention and instead hold the terrorist in civilian custody. This has caused some confusion because some reports stated that the waiver in question allows the President to waive constitutional protections for U.S. citizens. This is simply not the case. The final bill that passed includes specific language preventing the military detention of US citizens.

With my support, H.R. 1540 was signed into law by the President on December 31, 2011.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me on this matter. I look forward to communicating with you in the future as I serve the people of the Second District of North Carolina. If you would be interested in receiving my e-newsletter, or for other information, please visit my website at www.ellmers.house.gov to sign up or contact me.

Sincerely,
Renee Ellmers
Member of Congress

What to do.

I wish there was a way we could monitor these elected official in a data base so that people can have pull up their record so that we can support like minded candidates and reject the ones we don't care for. Renee Ellmers ran as a Tea Party candidate and she voted against the bill to audit the fed and now she is supporting this bill.

Thank you legalizeliberty

Thank you legalizeliberty for continuing to post these on DailyPaul and spreading the news about them. I've made it part of my Sunday routine to record Dr. Paul's Texas Straight Talks and put them on YouTube, but due to other commitments don't have time to publicize them. I hope you are able to keep doing just that!

Thank you brother in Liberty

I'm happy to help spread the word about them.
You can count on me doing it for a long time to come.
When Sunday comes I enjoy lurking on Youtube clicking on your channel.

Keep up the great work!

I just called tyrant warmongering Lindsey Graham's

office and spoke with one of his assistants about the NDAA. Why would he vote yea on unconstitutional bills. I made it clear that the military arresting Americans and holding them indefinately without a right to trial was unconstitutional. I also asked why they never read my letters. I told them I have sent them many many letters. He said that someone there reads them to him. I asked well then why do I always get back the exact same canned response and he said I dont know. I told him thats why I am calling today. I'd like to know why Lindsey voted YEA on an unconstitutional bill and what is the point of wasting all this taxpayer money on sending the same exact response on ever letter I send. I told him I specifically wrote in my last letter to not send me the same response. I'd rather them just ignore me and save money than sending me the same exact letter. Thats when he got my contact so he could look my letters up, at least thats what he said the reason was. Who knows... maybe it was to put me on a liberty loving terrorist list or something...

I'm sick of these bastards not being held accountable for their trashing of the constitution! I hope SC votes that SOB out this fall, but knowing these voters, they'll just vote him right back in to keep taking away our rights 1 by 1. There are some good people in this state, but most people in this state are idiots, obvious from looking at who they keep voting in.

Cna someone upload this in youtube under "REPEAL NDAA"

This would be a great addition to YouTube to bring attention to Ron Paul and the NDAA. Can someone upload this to YouTube pls. Thanks.

I say: if you can't make it better, don't make it worst!

The 300 persons charged with “terrorism”

The 300 persons charged with “terrorism” and the six individuals locked up for the 1993 bombing of WTC is not an example of a successful civilian court system when you know whom the real terrorists are.

The NDAA is the anti-habeas corpus act.

This is tyranny to the core.

hmm

But I see Secretary of State Hillary Clinton being concerned about human rights in... China.

Thank you Steve.

and, of course, selective human rights.

did she mention any specific groups? Or did she just generalize?

I remember a video of a protester at one of her rallies being pretty roughly treated, with not a word from her, not to mention the mistreatment of a vet who sat down in protest at one of her (majesty's) speeches. What about human rights HERE?
