Ideas For the Post-Campaign Future

Following the 2012 nomination, win or lose, the movement and community that has coalesced around Dr. Paul's ideas will have some decisions to make about the future.

Time, resources, and energy are always limited, and how we spend them will be an important choice we have to make as individuals, small groups and collectively as a movement.

Energy and time spent engaged in the political process, local Republican bodies, and state and national elections is time and energy not spent in forming longer lasting non political institutions, such as media, educational, commercial, cultural, and community organizations.

The following list are some ideas for non political pursuits we should consider alongside our direct focus on reshaping the Republican party and winning office.

The Campaign for Liberty, organized following the 2008 campaign to continue the work of the campaign, lists these goals among others,

-precinct leader program

-discussion groups and book clubs at the local level to help people learn more about the organization's ideas

Here are some political and non-political things we should focus on within and outside of official campaign related orgs:

1. politician vetting

We should realize that our movement and community will become the most coveted source of donations and fundraising for up and coming politicians.

We will be viewed as cash cows, suckers and PREY by thousands of political climbers looking to appropriate the 'Ron Paul' name brand and wield Paulian rhetoric as a path to power.

We need a serious effort to identify and vet genuine worthy candidates from opportunists and hucksters, if we are to prevent the complete coopting and dilution of the message, a la the Tea Party 2008-2012.

This doesn't mean we are 100% purists, we do have to accept some degree of self-interest and maneuvering on the part of all politicians, but some degree of vetting is absolutely necessary to maintain the ideological focus of our ideas and the integrity of the Paul brand.

2. home school curriculum

publishing / private teachers and tutors / lecturing

We can take a page from the Christian movement in America to build alternative educational bodies and infrastructure, including publishing, textbooks, guidelines for homeschoolers, etc. Parents cannot be expected to do this all on their own. Many won't even attempt it if there is no credible support structure to turn to.

3. raising/grooming political candidates

retreats / camps / training

4. to expand on 2 & 3 -- political 'bootcamps,' youth summer camp, setting up simple primary school workshops to assist the homeschooling movement, forming homeschooling collectives with shared responsibility between parents, all on the way toward building an alternative educational establishment.

5. accreditation institutions, outside of official college/university system

The accreditation will indicate to us that the school and the student has gone through an educational process deemed proper according to the tenets of our ideological community.

6. "mutual aid" societies/fraternities

Helping each other, working together, knowing who we are, building a common sense of identity outside of, underneath and above present institutions.

7. commercial collectives

Same as 6 but on a commercial level. This can incorporate elements of private currency, like barter organizations, or local scrip issuers, but presumably based around some hard currency component.

8. legal defense funds and legal aide to help us navigate the legal hurdles and pitfalls in creating and implementing these ideas and bodies

9. cultural, non documentary media

10. lobbying, especially local educational lobbying organizations to influence choice of texts and curriculum, perhaps even national lobbying organizations.

We have to play the game as it is actually played, not as we wish it would be played.

The Constitution may be our rallying cry, the bill of rights our '95 theses' nailed to the establishments door, but -- we need to recognize the small 'c' constitution of power as it actually exists, and engage in it according to its rules and realities.

11. scholarships.

12. fundraising for all projects, especially single purpose projects like production of media

We should pioneer the use of chip-in style fundraising to organize goal based projects. We can contract writers, producers, managers and other non-political talent to carry out projects on a one-time basis to produce a project embraced by the grassroots.

The whole scope of our activity should be aimed at creating an alternative society and set of institutions under the radar and off the grid of our official, corrupt and sclerotic institutions.

Something living, vibrant and lasting beyond single election cycles. Something to catalyze our energies, focus our efforts, and employ our time and talent in a way that accumulates rather than squanders them.

This means building social capital, including institutional and economic capital, and having structures in place to subsume the roles of the state structures we hope to see disappear.

This isn't the job or work of the campaign -- the campaign will be over one way or another by the end of 2012.

This is your work and my work for the next 5 to 10 years and beyond, whether we succeed on the the political level or not. The future doesn't pause because we win or fail to win an election.

Whatever is coming, we need to be there for each other in more than mere words and sentiment.

It's the way of the future.

UPDATE: Ongoing efforts and projects...

I will add to this list with updates as become aware of them.

Not Sure How I Missed This Post The First Time Around

Many excellent ideas here.

I'm bumping this because I found it from Bills most recent

And I'm curious to hear, over a full year later, what's the status? Not just with Bill III, but with all y'all on this.

I'm bumping this because i think it is highly relevant. We NEED to be on top of things or we will get co-opted. Ron is not running for a quick flash and burn out. We can take back the Repub party back to the Goldwater/Bob Taft party. With enough noise maybe something will happen in the Dem party that we start hearing about "Red" Dems. The working class Dems surely don't want endless immigration that will kill their wages. They just need a change in mind set. At very least we need to keep making a stir in the House. Stand tall Sons/Daughters of Liberty, this battle is faaar from over :)

We should be pushing for

reductions in salary for all political offices. No person should be holding any political office as a full time job with the exception of a President, Governor, or Mayor. All representatives should have a private sector job and would need one if salaries were substantially reduced. In a free society as the founders envisioned there isn't need for representatives to be on the clock all the time because we shouldn't be talking about 95% of the crap currently being discussed and infringed on. Without the incentive of a free ride and suckle from the tax payer tit only people who care about the Republic would hold political office.

The bold effort the present bank had made to control the government ... are but premonitions of the fate that await the American people should they be deluded into a perpetuation of this institution or the establishment of another like it-Andrew Jackson

Great post..... One other

Great post.....

One other thing we need is to run for office.

Everybody has a role to play in this liberty movement. Some are donors, some are promoters. Some are leaders, others are cops or judges.

If everyone finds their niche, then we can keep this momentum going for a while.

Personally, I'm in the middle of making a super pac. We hope to get up and running this summer.

It goes beyond politics

We are affecting a revolution. The focus should be on coopting the pillars of power back to the people - first and foremost, the military. Egypt is still stuck in a state of democratic mob chaos because they did not coopt the military before they revolted. So we need to focus on the basics - coopt the military, the education system, the food/healthcare system, the monetary system, and then the gov't will be easy to take over. It does no good to try to take over the gov't if we don't have these other areas on our side first.

Are you a Republican?

I'm pretty sure the after the election plan os to reamin in the GOP and continue registering voters Republican, seating Ron paul Repyblican on the Republican Central Committees, running for offices as Ron Paul Rpublicans and spreading the message of Hope by Restring America to Constitutional Government.

Are you on a Republican Central Committee? Are you chairing it or any commitees?

Being a little premature aren't we?

Ron can win this thing. Further, the American people better hope that he does, cause we're screwed to the max if not...
Post election (if no Ron)? Hunker down, cause a french revolution isn't far away.

"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is argument of tyrants. It is the creed of slaves." William Pitt in the House of Commons November 18, 1783
"I have one word for you...predator drones. Oh, you think I'm kidding?" Obombya

Just my 2¢, but no it's not premature...

In Tampa, I see three options:
1. We have enough delegates to succede in getting Ron Paul the GOP nomination, and he is nominated.
2. We have enough delegates, but the establishment screws us over more than ever and still manages to nominate Romney.
3. Romney legitimately gets the nomination based on number of delegates (ignoring for the moment, how legitimate the state conventions have been and will be).

I want option #1 to happen. I hope #1 will happen. I am a fool though if I believe that #2 or #3 cannot happen or will not happen. Look at it this way: If #2 or #3 happens, will the Liberty Movement/R3OVLution be prepared for what comes next, or will we fall apart, with no visible leader or cohesive plan for the future? Will we splinter into the Libertarian/Constitutionalist/Republican/Green/Democratic/(etc.) parties?

I guess I just feel that we need to expect the best, but be prepared for the worst. Think positively, and hopefully, while maintaining a realistic and level-headed mindset of what we will do, no matter what. It concerns me that there are so many voices that seem to say that even thinking about what we would do in a loss is tantamount to treason to the movement. Really? It's treasonous to want to prepare the movement for all possible outcomes? I don't understand the logic in that.

Agree with everything you've

Agree with everything you've said.... except,

We don't really need a national leader. Everybody should be networking with their local supporters. We have to take this country back through the grassroots aka at the local level.

We'll have our own leaders but locally.

I could've been more clear there. I think what I was getting at is that folks need to be ready with a plan regardless of what happens with Ron Paul 2012. I'm afraid that some people have a "Ron Paul 2012 and nothing else" tunnel-vision.

How About a Liberty Business Network??

Business networking within the Liberty community should be added to your list as we need to support each other to be financially sound to promote our message and to have the money to support our Liberty candidates. Also, would you not rather reward a liberty minded business owner then those who are still caught in the matrix? WE all would, we just need to be able to identify who these businesses are. This will require a similiar vetting process you mentioned in #1 along with identifying slogans and registered logos for web sites, that you can only display once your business has been vetted. Kinda line the BBB for the Liberty Movement.

#10 - PRS Report

Need to have regular activism activities to get people continually doing something and attracting new people.

Simple grassroots that even the laziest activists can take part in.

Currently, I think going after the TSA is a good focus: http://youtu.be/fNwcIlHwR0A

Looking for alt media to carry the PRS Report segment.

Be sure EVERY

The Brushfire Project

I'll be working to spread the message of Dr.Paul through animated infographics. I hope to tie this in with the official campaigns of liberty candidates.

My hope is to spread the intellectual revolution so that the political revolution will follow more easily.

I am a bigger fan of the republican liberty caucus than the

Campaign for liberty. Do not get me wrong, I like C4L, but RLC http://www.rlc.org/ can endorse candidates like they did Ron Paul, and gives help in educating how to get involved with your local county and state republican party and become leadership. Much more useful in my opinion.

All of those willing and able should get involved with your local republican party - even if you don't want to be leadership, your liberty loving friends need your support and votes - yes you get to vote on who republican party leadership is! and this is not just something that happens when conventions are going on!

It's too easy to make the republican party ours if we all pitch in!

Accelerate the transformation to Liberty in Congress

See my post:

Getting this enforced would immediately and permanently remove all those passing laws to overthrow the constitution (NDAA, Patriot Act, etc.).

It would also open up many seats in Congress to be filled by Liberty minded people. Imagine more than half the Senate and more than half of the House being replaced NOW!! not slowly over time; 2014, 2016, etc.

Of course as Republicans we will need to have new Candidates vetted and ready to go.

Mighty mountains in grandeur stand, but tiny raindrops turn them to sand! Noah, I think I just felt a raindrop!!

RonPaulRadio.com has a broad group of new hosts who come from different perspectives, and the's been internal discussion about creating a network that will last past the election cycle.

We will be working on rolling back this mess and educating all who will listen.

Plenty of work to do in your own community

I would advise us all to stay involved. For those of you that have children, I would pay attention to the school boards and local government. Some of the Austin and Houston Ron Paul people went to a Saturday session with a gentleman by the name of Paul Dorr that has a consulting practice by the name of Copperhead Consulting. Basically, he has been very successful in auditing local school bonds and wasteful spending. If you think that corruption is only in D.C., you'll be shocked to see what happens in your school district.

That's my 2 cents but it's well worth the fight. We must win our country back one neighborhood at a time.

Houston TX for Ron Paul

re: ideas for the post campaign future

I am glad to see these plans coming together. My two greatest concerns are 1. that all this energy will dissipate when Dr. Paul is no longer at the head of it; and 2. That we will be co opted by the establishment. I already question the sincerity of several key figures as it is. We're going to have to do this on our own, I think to be successful. We can't look for a leader. We have to lead ourselves.

One thing we've got to make certain happen is that we lay the groundwork for the education of liberty before we venture fully into the attempt tackle Washington. That is, before we start endorsing candidates who want to use Dr. Paul's name. One of the things that appealed to me about Dr. Paul once I found him was his unwillingness to compromise. I had taught myself civics by reading James Madison, and I had found someone who followed the principles that would make Madison proud. We must not compromise our own principles because there will be ( already are ) people trying to appeal to us using Dr. Paul's name and we must be very careful to guard against being co opted as the Tea Party was co opted. Let the fate of the Tea Party be a lesson on the way not to do things and keep our guard up.

"The characteristic feature of a free society is that
it can function in spite of the fact that its members
disagree in many judgments of value."

~ Ludwig von Mises ( 1881 ~ 1973 )

I don't "pimp" our site here at DailyPaul (unless it's a link to something on our site relevant to a post) but in 08, we realized the "message" had to continue even though the campaign was "over."

Here's what we came up with and yeah I'm biased and all but it truly has been having an impact over the last 5 years.

Now, this site is for people who are starting to rub their eyes and wake up, it's not an "advanced" site for people who are already out and doing stuff.

Anyway, I hope folks here will check it out and maybe send some friends/family over to it. Thanks.

...IF we have an election...and Ron Paul does not win...there may not be much left after the euro crashes soon leading to the dollar crash thereafter, and or isreal starts WW III as created by the rothschilds to do in which we have been set up by the bankster globalists to lose.

And also, will people be free to operate in a normal environment after the martial law is declared after a mosad govt sponsored false flag event to bring it on?

Folks gotta realize this slow moving nazi 2.0 train has been moving closer and closer like boiling the frog in hot water. Soon the gates will close and all manor of evil will transpire.

We still have a chance to save the ship if we can get Ron Paul elected. Plain and simple. That 2012 thing is going to be the end of the world as we know it alright. The question is, are you and yours truly prepared for that?

Peace be with you all.

I'd agree with you;

I'm afraid that this kind of thing will transpire and the level of vileness will only increase here. But I think it's important that we try to stop this while we can. There's no point in hurrying toward destruction - the best we can do is jump up and down, warn others, and actually do something about it. Even if the country does collapse, as Ron Paul says, "let it not be said we did nothing".

The Euro will be fine, we'll stamp another 14 trillion into the slush fund (don't ask where the money comes from) and kick the can for another 48 months. It depends how quickly people catch on I guess...
