What is going on and who is doing it?

My father once told me that if you want to get to the root of what is going on and who is doing it, that you have to follow the money.

Who is lobbying for universal healthcare? That would be interesting to know!

I have tried to find out, and short of spending $700/year to a firm that tracts such things, the cumbersome http://sopr.senate.gov site has got me at a loss of finding this information out.

Isn't it prepostorous that the House and Senate have to struggle with legisltation that discloses to the public this information.

Anyone have a short list of who is lobbying for universal healthcare?

Perhaps the Billary crowd would think twice if they saw that the lobbying groups and companies for universal healthcare are the very same ones the federal government enabled to drive our costs up. And oh my, what will the requirements be if you want to participate in such legislation? Think there won't be any?

I personally think you have it all wrong.

I don't think you are ahead of them yet. There are a few issues that don't even require a lobby. If I own a door knob comp. and you own a door making comp. and I make to many doors. I might need to lobby you to make more door knobs. On the other hand if we merge our business there is no need to lobby. We have the same agenda. See we have perfect harmony a utopia on finished doors. What everyone needs to realize is that we are already in the begining stages of fascism. The merging of Govt. and Corp. = fascism. The Corp. shares money and ideas and the Govt. shares power and access. Our Govt officials don't have to be lobbied on certain issues They just have a little secret meeting or they remeber what agenda was decided was best for the Govt. Corp at the last meeting. Eventually they won't need meetings the'll all be on the same page. I'm sorry to say but the oath means nothing to these people. they are just words. Just like the Constitution is (like Greorge Bush said) a G_d d_mn piece of paper. Before you try to think ahead of them you must catch up first. Our great 100 year sleep has put us at a great disadvantage.

P.S. the answer to your question is your elected officails are doing it on their own. There is no lobby. They are criminals

Partially correct Truebeliever

I believe you are correct, but I believe it is combination of the two....lobbying and working in unicen so to speak. It all comes down to money though; let's not kid ourselves. So when they decide to do these things you speak of, it is primarily about the dollar benefit they will receive...whether through a lobby or in their back pocket....or perhaps just a son or daughter getting a big paying job from one of these companies....whether they work there or not....or maybe because they have stock in that particular company.

Always remember, people always do something for a reason. It's not just because they've decided fascism is best for this country.

You still need to follow the money trail, but sometimes you just need to dig a lot further.

I thought Dr Paul covered

I thought Dr Paul covered this when he said you could spend your money how ever you want. The govt.needs to have less power to spend the money however they want.

I can tell you

The pharmaceutical companies without question. They want everyone to be on a pill or five. But would be nice to be verified on paper to show some that would understand the concerning correlation. Most that want to vote for universal health care are foolish enough that they probably wouldn't understand the problem with them being behind with those candidates. I see a very scary one!

What's really amazing is that many Americans know the pills are bad for them, yet they take them anyway.....because their Dr., who was trained by the pharmeceutical companies, told them to. Yes, Gravel is right that Americans are getting dumber! Except for many of the Ron Paul crowd...thank goodness.

Yes, the problem with conscienceless ads and lobbyist groups runs right to the core of our major problems with this country. They need to be stopped or this problem will be perpetual.

Bob, I respectfully

Bob, I respectfully disagree. Companies should be free to donate money to whoever they like. Politicians on the otherhand should follow the damned constitution.

hocaltar on donations

You may disagree, but am sure Ron Paul would agree as he won't let the lobbyists into his office. Why give big money a chance to manipulate the politicians to the potential detriment of the American people? When have you taken money from anyone, especially a big amount, and not expected to do something in return? Lobbyists have been the undermining of this country. Politicians are human, well sorta, they can't be expected to be honest like our Ron.....although it would sure be nice.

Politicians are elected to benefit Americans as a whole, not a specific group or groups. As a Realtor, I cannot by law, take money or gifts from from other companies to give them business. But special interest groups can give millions to have their specific needs addressed? Sounds a bit hypocritical to me.

Actually, I am 99% sure I

Actually, I am 99% sure I heard Dr. Paul say that business' should be able to give any amount to anyone they want. Because if I own Microsoft and someone like Ron Paul comes along and I want to give a billion dollars to him because I love my country and think that a man with his integrity ought to be running it, I should be able to do that.

Unfortunatley, I cannot find my source. Can an independent person verify this?

If that was true, the

If that was true, the rockafeller family would have donated Rudy 20 billion and there would be nothing but guliani ads on television all the way up to the election.

Never said that

Don't recall him ever saying that. And because you love someone, it does not mean that is good for the country and that eveyone loves him....or her. In Ron's case, we do, but he wants what is fair for all.

If said it, was likely for anything but to manipulate government policy....and that's what the lobbyists do.

contributions

companies, groups and individuals should be able to contribute to anyone they like to, EXCEPT legislators. There should be no money for politics in our system. That is where the corruption and inequities occur. Tort and lobby reform would solve most of our problems.
