Have you read Ben Swann's bio?

Our beloved reporter/news hero has an incredible background that I didn't realize.

High school graduate at age 11 (Homeschool)
College degree (Liberal Arts) from BYU at age 15
Master's (History) from California State at age 16.
Originally wanted to become a minister and has already been an assistant pastor and youth minister at a Presbyterian Church in Portland

As if I couldn't have more respect for this man.

Which Cal State?

It's seems I read somewhere

It's seems I read somewhere that most, if not all, of his higher education was through distance learning. Does one of the Cal States have an online degree program?

I would imagine they all do.

Could be any one of them

Ben Swann for Senator!!

Obedience to God is resistance to tyrants.

Who says there are no heroes?

Our Prussian modeled "public" school system, that's who!

Not only is Ben all that and a bag of chips, dude is ripped (you can see it even when he's in a suit). He would make an excellent Chief of Staff/Security for Dr. Paul IMHO... (who needs "secret" service anyhow?)

Doesn't he also have 5 or 6 children? I thought I read that somewhere. This world sure needs a lot more little swans!

Yes!

Yes! 5 children

Homeschooling FTW!!!

Homeschooling FTW!!!

Are we ready to stop calling it "alternative" education?

A senior I know interviewed with the local M.I.T. representative. The student was one of three from the local high school who'd applied to M.I.T. and the last to interview. (The rep noted that all three were basically eligible, as with most of their applicants, who tended to "self screen.") Wrapping up, the M.I.T. guy asked about the student's background. Hearing the reply, he declared, "What's going on here?!"

That student had transferred into public school after attending a Waldorf N/K program and elementary school (with virtually no tests, no graded report cards, reading taught in 2nd Grade, and one primary teacher taking a class from 1st-8th Grade). One of the other students had transferred in from a NYC magnet school. The third student had transferred in after being home-schooled. That is, none had come through the system, i.e., during their most formative years.

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.

I am a homeschool mom,

all my children are grown now, but I used to read his mother's articles in a few homeschool magazines at the time. She did this while running a restaurant. She would sit all the children at the dining table, and stay with them from 8 till noon, and they would work the whole time, until noon. Incredible. It was quite impressive.

love benn swann

this guy is awesome for fighting for liberty he seems so smart but he cant really be stupid enough to be christian can he? (I really DO NOT care if I offend you)

ron paul 2012

Meant to distract you

Meanwhile, back to the subject of our discussion" Ben Swan graduated from HS at 11 yr. old, college at 16, amazing man. Credit due to his mother. See? we can do everything w/o the govt. dragging us down! Did you know that at MIT they invented a solar panel that's 150 times stronger than what we're allowed? (shelved). What happend to the 150 mpg carburator from the 60's. Put on the shelf. Did you know that they were selling conversion kits on youtube that you could put on your car? You would average 200 miles on 1/3 of a cup of water. Unfortunate for them. Free up the intellect. No more mandatory public education. We can do better. We have been dumbed down. Look at how fast RP wiped out the 12 + years of public edu brainwasning in all those college students. The human experience will not be tethered.

Disregard government. Acquire liberty.

I am incredibly offended. You

I am incredibly offended.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself!

Ron Paul is stupid enough

to be a Christian, too.

Not So Fast Sir...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
It is from this amendment that freedom of religion, and all its benefits to the USA, comes from...You may not respect religion but please tell me you respect the constitution...
It's ok if you feel that way...And it is ok if you say what you think...
What I think is...Ben has done well by us (us as a movement) and by God I appreciate that! I hope you do too...And it may be OUR freedom of religion that brought him to a place to put principle before status quo...Sadly enough freedom of press has been stolen...I want it back, and Ben is helping us get it back!

Bad food, worse weather, please rEVOLution the states so I can bring my family back home!
Rosa Koire for for President!

You said it all:

"I really DO NOT care if I offend you" = sociopath

Libertarianism is a concern for others and protecting their freedoms. Also, you just called Ron Paul, Tom Woods and Judge Napolitano stupid.

Why can't you just celebrate the huge mountain of other cool things about Ben Swann.

Calling someone who promotes

Calling someone who promotes reason and liberty stupid for being a Christian is an ad homenim dismissal of their intellect, work, and message, and it is in my mind a form of verbal violence that is contrary to the principle of non-aggression.

There is no question that your comment is divisive, rude, and does nothing to further the progression of my or your individual liberty.

You mean stupid like Ron Paul?

Give me a break! What a low-class, collectivist comment. Ron Paul "fan?" Sure, as long as you call him stupid, I don't think so.

No offense taken

You are correct.

He is smart enough (and open-minded enough) to be a 'Christian'.

Good luck with the hate.

No offense taken,

but it is interesting that of all the homeschool organizations I have been involved in, being secretary and treasurer of homeschool groups, there have been many Christian homeschoolers, and a few non Christian homeschoolers, but the non Christian homeschoolers rarely ever lasted more than a year before going back to public school. This is just an observation, and says nothing about how smart they are , or stupid, but must say something about their convictions.

I think it's clear

Homeschooling parents don't want their children to grow up in the environment of public school, where kids are exposed to a lot.

I was homeschooled till 9th grade and then I went to public school. I'd like to say from personal experience that I absolutely hated homeschooling and was extremely rebellious in spite of it. Public school allowed me to mature the social aspects of my life that were left stagnated by my parents choice to homeschool me.

Some would say homeschooling is good for the non-exposure. I say it's bad - your child won't be contained in your little bubble forever and it will be subject to culture-shock when they do end up leaving the house.

Not true

We are secular homeschoolers so religion played no part in the issue, and I don't want her sheltered from the real world. I want her to know what's out there. I just don't want her involved in some of the stuff, not that that has ever been a problem. She still hangs out with the same friends. She is involved in activities outside of school, but when it's time to learn, there are fewer distractions and she is really learning. I couldn't say that when she was in public school. She loves it and has no desire to go back to public school. Your experience was obviously quite different, but you not every kid feels the way you did.

Dude...

I personally know dozens of homeschooling families and they go out of their way to organize social events and exposing them to the ebb and flow of the real world workplace.

You are speaking only from your own experience and the talents/motivations of your parents. Sure some parents isolate their kids for some reason. There are lonely abused kids in public school too (not saying you are lonely and abused :p although you claim to be isolated and cut off from parts of society you deem important).

Government good parents evil.

Obviously Ron Paul is crazy, this is proof Marxism works.

We all should learn trust the superior answers communism provides to prevent such rebellious behavior as clearly caused solely by parental failure; and create well adjusted citizens. Homeschoolers are falling behind their counterparts progressive enlightened morality by holding fast to their archaic high standards of moral behavior. They are certainly not going to be prepared to participate in our elite godless globalist state.

C'mon people!

Why did you vote this guy down? He is obviously being satirical and is not meant to be taken seriously with this.
