Would love an update on the delegate count in OK!!! :) Any news?

The OK GOP

On 5/22/12 at the Oklahoma Republican headquarters, the delegates selected at the outside convention showed up to rightfully participate in the delegate caucus meeting. This meeting was to determine who each delegate was bound to, what committees they would like to serve on and RNC details. Matt Pinnell, the state party chair, knew that we were planning on coming and was not happy about it. He refused to let us participate in this meeting. If you were watching the livestream when it started, you can see this pretty clearly. People were not happy that we were there. Therefore we (the at-large delegates elected on the conservative slate as well as the delegates elected at District conventions who are Ron Paul supporters) had to use another room at the Oklahoma GOP headquarters to hold our own delegate caucus meeting after the OK GOP held their meeting. Surprisingly they set a room up for us to wait in and hold our own delegate caucus. In the meeting we held we did everything according to the rules. We elected a delegation leader, decided which candidate each delegate was to be bound to, and we also elected delegates to serve on each committee at the RNC. We then turned in our results to the state chairman, Matt Pinnell, as is required.

You can see the 3 videos of our delegate caucus below. This includes delivering the results to Matt Pinnell.

There is still much work to do to make sure the Oklahoma delegates elected in the outdoor part of the convention are recognized. The next few days, weeks and possibly months leading up to Tampa will be interesting. There is much strategy involved, which cannot be discussed. As things develop and we are able to share the next steps with the public, we will keep you all informed.

Just so you all know: Our group of Ron Paul supporters here in Oklahoma are truly amazed at the amount of support we have received from across the nation from fellow Ron Paul supporters. Know that it is truly appreciated!

Shouldn't that video of him

Shouldn't that video of him accepting your paperwork legitimize your slate and force recognition of the delegates? He would have to recognize you as a legitimate delegation because, for instance, if I went in there with the paperwork put together and tried to give it to him as a submission he'd have handed it back laughing, or thrown it in the trash. Here he readily accepted it and even shook hands.

Likely outcome?

What is the likely outcome of this? Would the OK GOP re-do the convention in a fair manner? Has this sort of thing ever occurred before?

Not suing... yet.

Not to nitpick or burst bubbles, but if you read the letter, they're clearly not suing them (yet):

"...we have been asked to investigate the possibility of taking this matter to court in association with local counsel in Oklahoma." (page 5)

This is merely a challenge letter trying to resolve the issue without going to court. Based on past experience, I wouldn't expect legal action to get very far very quickly (or before the convention). They even hint at that in the next sentence:

"While courts are traditionally reluctant to interfere with the internal operations of political parties,”

I'm hoping for the best case for our cause and remaining cautiously optimistic though.

Wasn't the letter given prior to the meeting yesterday?

If so, it doesn't sound like they gave a hoot about it and simply proceeded to reconvene the delegates they wanted. Therefore, what chance do the RP delegates in Oklahoma have and is there a way they can be recognized? It is bizarre that they did everything right and then were simply dismissed (not to mention that the lights were turned off on them as well). If it appears that there is no real legal remedy that would work before the convention, I am wondering why you remain cautiously optimistic?

betty

There are a few things

which can be done, even though the OK GOP refuses to hear us. Things all the way to the RNC. Yes, we are working on it all. And we need to stay optimistic, because we have a good case :)!

Where can we send money to help with this

cause? I would have loved to sue my county....

.

.

If someone was to create an Attorney Money Bomb

This would give us foreign Ron Paul supporters the opportunity to make a donation. The good thing is, there will be no limit to what we could donate. It could raise millions.

Just set it up under legal

Just set it up under legal counsel or through the campaign and we'll hit this.

That's a powerful challenge letter

I'm so proud of you Oklahoma! Thanks for getting this ball rolling. Looks like this law firm did their homework.

We should begin to sue.....

all the others immediately - Arizona , Vermont etc. where the state GOP in league with the Romney campaign blatantly violated the rules. Even if we lose it will immediately send a signal that we can play the game just as good or better than they can. Can you imagine if the convention opens in Tampa with 10 states delegates in question?
Would love to see the look on Romney's face over this.

Ron brought the Liberty movement together, Rand is expanding the crap out of it! :)

Support

I have been waiting for this type of action from the Ron Paul organization. Hopefully the GOP agrees to the demands rather than having to take the issue to the courts. But it would be sweet if the issue did go to the courts and the courts demanded that the GOP accept the delegates elected after the state convention was called to a close, and the process was continued outside.

Outstanding! IMO, a win here

Outstanding! IMO, a win here will have far reaching consequences whereas the GOP in other states will be put on notice to stop cheating.

Ron Paul 2012 !

If we don't stand firm now....

they'll run all over us as they are trying to steal delegates all across the country by hook and crook.

Sure we should sue them... just don't spend too much on the case.
The "system" that owns the two major parties also has an unbelievably strong influence in the courts.

"Certain" lawsuits just seem to get delayed, appellate courts will also drop or over-turn these kinds of cases.

it's the grass roots not the

it's the grass roots not the campaign so don't worry about money.

Good. Now AZ, GA and others need to do the same

Boom.
