While pumping gas today, I asked the cashier if he would accept silver coins as payment...

He smiled, reached into his cash register, pulled out a Silver Eagle and said "YES, PLEASE DO!"

We have created our own media, and we have fought to elect officials that speak for us. Now we need to start using Constitutional money. Hoarding gold and silver is half the battle.

Visit www.ronpaulyellowpages.com. We can upload and search for businesses that accept legal tender as payment!

This is my favorite kind of topic 'bump'

When it's a good topic, and something I do all the time by flashing an ounce of bullion silver, bouncing it off the countertop and saying 'you hear that?

That's real money. Not paper, not this phony garbage'.

You are lucky to have a gas station attendant with a brain. :)

Don't feed the pandas. Ever.

Have you seen this?

That's funny

I usually ask the attendants to sell me their pre 65. I usually use the line, a dollar for a dime. With success I might add. Bump for using it and all... But I am just trying to hold it.

The question is: Would your cashier have given you $1.00 worth

...of gas since the the silver eagle IS legal tender of ONE U.S. dollar...

Or would he have given you the actual current spot price of silver's worth of gas?

I would think the two of you would come to some agreement on a price.

For example if silver were $30.00 that day he might give you 95% of that ($28.50 per ounce)in gas or some other similar agreement.

Or maybe he would simply give you current spot price.

With the advent of mobile Internet we can immediately find current spot where as in the past you never were really up to date.

Very interesting subject.

Here's a site to check for current coinage melt values.

Using silver. I carry an Eagle in my pocket everywhere and offer it to people who own their own businesses.

The first time I paid my chiropractor with one, I heard him say to his receptionist "This is the first time I feel like I got paid!"

A while back

I asked a cashier if she would take Federal Reserve Notes.
She said, "No sir, but we can accept cash, checks or major credit cards.

A lot of people don't even know that this paper money is actually a Federal Reserve Note.

Good one!

I usually only use my credit card for buying items. I pay it in full at the end of the month even though I should probably take a page from the govt and not...then just wait for the dollar to collapse to pay it off...but my brain won't allow me to "owe" money to people. However, whenever I do pay in cash...I always bring up that it is worthless anyway..I beg my employer to pay me in silver...

THis is a new way for me to screw around with people. Thanks!

I can't recommend going that route

Being in debt at time of currency crisis is pretty horrifying because the banks will revalue your debt in the new currency, but often the new currency is very scarce, leading to people defaulting on the debt and having their property or collateral confiscated.

Best to continue as you have been.

That was funny

Im going to try that

"Freedom is Popular"

HA HA HA

She worked at the bank but never read what was printed on the actual bills. That cracked me up as soon as I read it!

Gold standard: because man can not be trusted to control his greed

it was hypothetical...

No trade in silver was made. I just know where to go for gas when the dollar crashes.

The Red Coats are coming!

Is that your site?

Looks like a good idea.

It's my buddies website

trying to build a database

The Red Coats are coming!

I reg'd

I will only use Ag if the cost of doing so is equal-to or less-than the FRN equiv. I've been on the other side as well (selling labor for Ag). I give a big (10-15%) cost break if the customer pays in US mintage.

Curious?

Would it have been for Metal value or Face value? Lol. Did he discuss this?

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Great but.....

Why would you part with valuable silver rather than get rid of those almost worthless FRNs?
Sounds like you lost out on this deal.
