Interesting...

I was thinking along these lines as well recently. I was thinking that if I could walk two or three miles two or three times each week, I'd probably be a lot more productive. Then I was reading "Washington's Crossing" by David Hackett Fischer:

Washington himself was a sickly youth, and he suffered much from illness. He was taught to strengthen himself by equestrian exercise and spent much of his life outdoors on the back of a horse. Whenever he had time, he went hunting three times a week. Even in his last years, he walked several miles every night to keep fit. By exercise Washington acquired extraordinary stamina and strength.
...
John Armstrong wrote that he "maintains full possession of himself, is indefatigable by day and night."

Of an internal struggle between his own forces:

..."in less than five minutes more than a thousand combatants were on the field." ...

Washington acted quickly. A soldier from Massachusettes named Israel Trask watched him go about it. As the fighting spread through the camp, Washington appeared with his "colored servant, both on horseback." Together the general and William Lee rode straight into the middle of the riot. Trask watched Washington with awe as "with the spring of a deer he leaped from his saddle, threw the reins of his bridle into the hands of his servant, and rushed into the thickest of the meleees, with an iron grip seized two tall, brawny, athletic, savage-looking riflemen by the throat, keeping them at arm's length, alternately shaking and talking to them."

...

Trask remarked that "hostile feelings between two of its (the army's) best regiments" were "extinguished by one man."

=============

Of course, Washington didn't come out with clear thinking on everything, but would to God we had a few more men like him now.

Beautiful. Made me wistful

Okay, I'm not talking about everyone, but... What is it about this country that has us running around like chickens without a head, always connected, with continual information or sensory stimulation streaming in from speakers or a screen, available 24/7, ever multi-tasking, paying a little attention to a lot vs. ever giving full attention to any one (person, place, or) thing, with so much communication on a superficial level and calculation in what we do or say so as to make an impression or deflect responsibility, ever self-conscience, rarely stopping to smell the roses or pausing to reflect, let alone express gratitude. We are so rarely, genuinely, relaxed... and thought-ful... I'd never choose to live anywhere but here. But without exception, I've never been to another country without wishing I could bottle something of the atmosphere and bring it home to be able to uncap and breathe in and cause me to remember, hard to say what it is but something having to do with slowing down and honesty and some innocence lost... something reflected in this clip.

Grateful for you pointing out that!

Grateful for you pointing out that we desperately need to take time (and energy) to appreciate what's worthy! Thank you Mdefarge.

Actually I will have soon a video about associations on my http://www.relate4ever.com blog that basically say: give attention only to what you like to see continue.

"Give attention only to..."

Yes, that's exactly what we should do. It sounds like a worthy endeavor.

I checked out some of your You-Tube clips. I like the closeups of nature and was reminded of a movie that was recommended elsewhere at the Daily Paul, that I thought you might like: "Microcosmos."

I hope that on

Father's Day (Sunday, June 17), you will post your video clip on the unconditional love of fathers.

I wonder if there would be less divorce (or just happier families, regardless) if fathers understood that their actions provide a child's concept of what a "father" is - that will have a bearing on how the child then regards God, the Father.

Thank you for your posts.

Excellent

And coming from me, that's quite an honor...

Inspiration is contagious!

Is inspiration contagious? I guess this is the most positive use of contagious!

Also I love how the Restoration Movement for the biblical principles goes in parallel with the Liberty Movement for the civil rights.
