Oh forget it

Just had to get that thought off my mind. I'd love to say it to the man's face.

Problem is...

Problem is the Christian faith is not the only faith to feel this way. Here is the root of all conflicts and wars throughout history. Why do we HAVE to force ideals or faith onto each other? If this would stop all Wars would stop. Fact.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Soooo, what happens to us

Soooo, what happens to us atheists? And the Muslims and Jews and my Hindu friends and my pagan friends. I like those people. Do we have to leave or convert? I think maybe we should perhaps have a nation where everybody is free to believe whatever they want. Liberty, remember?

This isn't Fox News sir. We

This isn't Fox News sir. We are a nation of individuals who can choose to follow any religion they want or none at all. We are not a "nation of Christians". More than likely you are just a troll trying to discredit the movement so why don't you just troll yourself right back under that bridge you crawled out from under.

If you aren't a troll I suggest you seriously reexamine the freedom movement because you obviously don't understand what it's actually about.

Missing comma?

Sorry for the nitpick.

We can only be a Christian nation when the Christians follow Christ in word, action and thought, and the non-Christians choose to live to similarly high moral standards. When the culture becomes a culture which supports mercy, honesty, peace, wisdom, justice, learning, thrift, chastity and fidelity, faithfulness, loyalty, and so on, that will be a wonderful day.

Another crank...

Another crank...

We are a nation of individuals

We are a nation of individuals, not a nation of a specific group. Sorry, but religious freedom doesn't mean "Christian nation". Now, I do agree that Christians should be able to practice their religion just like any other religion, but to say we are a Christian nation isn't promoting liberty in my opinion.

We shall have a nation of individuals...

free to choose or not choose any religion, ideology, or anything they please, so long as they remember to keep their hands off their neighbors and their neighbors property.

You can keep your religion to yourself

I am not a christian, Muslim or Jewish. It is insulting for you to suggest we should have a Christian nation like the rest of us don't exist. It's not good for the cause of liberty for folks to try to shove their religious beliefs down our throats. I won't tell you how to live... I expect you to keep your beliefs to yourself. That's what liberty and freedom are all about.

Historically speaking

I would rather we have a nation of libertarians. Can't think of any wars that we have started.
I suppose I could be content with "a nation of Americans."

Please......

I'm sorry. I know you mean well.
1. But, first of all, Obama is a Christian. Maybe he isn't a "real" Christian and belongs to the "wrong" sect/cult. But, he is still a Christian.
2. We already have a nation of Christians! 91% of the people in the US are religious (highest in the world, by far, next closest is Turkey with 85%). 92% of those religious people are Christian. We are one frickin' Christian nation. I get tired of the whole "we have abandoned God" arguement for our troubles. We are the most religious and most Christian nation on the entire earth. So, Christians, since you run the country - why is it a mess?
3. The Wars.......The only reason the American Sheeple support our killing of 4 million brown people in the middle east the last 20 years is because they have a different god. If the sheeple like yourself were truly honest and introspective you would agree. It is a crusade. And, while the intent of the elite/MIC might be different, they are able to be supported by the Christians having their latest crusade. There is no arguement and you have no counter - the "war on terror" is a religious war. It isn't even debatable at this point.
4. "Collateral Damage" --- Saddam was a bad guy - but at least he was secular, just like Iran and Libya. Before we invaded there were Christians and Jews, bars, girls could wear jeans. After, nope. The Christians have been run out of the middle east. Nice work American Christians.
5. "Seriously" -- What more do you want? You get to pay no taxes on your churches, you get to write off your tithes, you get national holidays and the calendar is based on yours, you have an overwhelming and almost strangling majority in this country, every elected official with few exception has to be part of your religion to be elected, your religion has dominated the text books in our schools - to the near removal of Thomas Paine even though he was the philosophical key to the Revolution (but, not Christian, so a bad guy). I could go on and on.....
I know you have only been here for a few months. But, once you understand that the Freedom Message applies to all, and not just the people that believe in the same sky-daddy, you will be on your way.

No...we are NOT a Christian

No...we are NOT a Christian Nation you fucking worthless idiot. We are a nation where most of Christians.

If you honestly don't see the difference, then your brain simply has turned to mush.

Ummm.......Did you actually read my post

I see you replied shortly after joining our forum which I have been a part of since the beginning.

Plus, you left a dangling sentence: "where most of Christians...."

I absolutely see the difference. Reread and get back to me.

Romney is a professing anti-Christ

I downvoted this because Romney is less of a Christian than Obama.

Obama claims to be a Christian. He may not be a good one, he may not be telling the truth about it, but I only really can say when he doesn't act like a Christian, says something that isn't Christian, supports, etc. The progaganda campaign against Obama, mostly from the likes of WND, is faulty because WND has rejected Christianity many times. I could post endless stories of them supporting zionism, anywhere from being participants with a group casting a kaballastic death spell in Israel, to Farah wanting to change the name of Jesus Christ during a Christmas editorial this year(a well known heresy among cult groups that whore for Jewish people). If you happen to be Jewish and find Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior - there isn't two sets of churches - Jesus Christ has made us all one.

Romney on the other hand is a professing anti-Christ, and he isn't just a normal member of his belief system either - he comes from the top ranks of a family that controls the Mormon church - and there is a lot more control than some people who haven't looked into it believe. He is hardly a secular candidate, and as many of us said before, we are not going to vote for an anti-Christ in the GOP.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Mormons aren't anti-Christs

Or is that not what you meant? If you meant that Romney is an anti-Christ in a way other than being a Mormon, my apologies. However, if you believe that Mormon = anti-Christ, that's another matter.

"Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." -- Thomas Paine

Romney breaths lies about the gospel everyday, Obama doesn't

I said exactly what you know I said. I dislike pretense.

Compared to Obama, being a member of a cult religion is nothing to be proud of. It can only be Romney forces that would attack Christians in that way. Romney doesn't even profess Christianity, but Mormonism, which has it's own books translated by an occultist using "seer stones"

I have no reason at the moment to think Obama isn't a Christin - anymore than say Bush or Perry, who I both don't think much of in that light because of their politics. Perhaps he isn't, but I haven't heard any doctrine betraying of the words of Jesus Christ yet from Obama.

Romney is a different matter. He breaths lies about the gospel everyday.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Ohhh....I get it now! Thanks

You cleared it up. Romney's religion, Mormonism, is false because Joseph Smith wrote a religious text using "seer stones", and because they are not Christian, they are a "cult", even though they are a large and organized, worldwide religion.

Your religion, Christianity, is true because your guy, Jeshua (Jesus) claimed to be the son of God, but apparently never learned to write....interesting. And, none of his twelve closest allies wrote down anything either. Even thought several of his speeches were copied from other religious texts, he used them just to show that those other "godmen" were fakes. And then a modern version of your religion, bornagainism, decided that the words and writings of Paul, who never met Jesus, were more dependable and important than the, supposed, words of the godman himself.

Clear as mud. Thanks!

Slight Change of Topic

The Founders profoundly rejected the idea of a nation, in favor of the idea of a country of states.

For 19 down votes, we sure have a good discussion going

That's what I'm talkin' about! I feel like RP did in that picture, "All Alone"

2 Chron 7:13-14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Actually Barry was correct when he said

that we are not a Christian nation. America has aborted more children than Hitler killed in the Holocaust. We wage endless war on countries which have not harmed us in any way, killing millions of innocents. We may have been founded as a Christian nation but at the moment we are FAR from being one.

“It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till." -J.R.R. Tolkien

Exactly

Very well said.

I really wish folks could

I really wish folks could respect non-belief. This is NOT a Christian nation. We are supposed to be a free nation.

You're right...

I should have phrased this a little differently, because the USA is a place of religious freedom. My hope is that we will be a nation full of Christians, because in my mind, it will lead us to be the greatest light to the world

2 Chron 7:13-14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

I love Jesus. I am not

I love Jesus. I am not ashamed to say that. I used to call myself "Christian" but finally left in disgust at what I saw so many called "Christians" doing that I decided to walk away from organized religion and pursue a private path to GOD consciousness. Matthew 6:5 expresses this well for me.

Most of the founders

were Deists, NOT Christian. Big difference.

A few of the Founders were Deists.

The rest were members of one Christian denomination or other, and of those, mainly Anglican.

Were are not a Theocracy

Yes, when you start to study this it is very surprising to learn just how Jefferson, Washington and Franklin felt about these issues. Christians always assume that all the Founders were Christian. Many struggled with this, strayed from the Church and felt deism best expressed their views. They wanted all to be free to express religion or NOT...that's freedom.
