The Two Party System
Submitted by Silk Shirt on Wed, 05/30/2012 - 05:13Why do we need the two party system?
Why can't we have a political system where all people are elected on their merits and any decisions that are taken are kept on public record viewable to all citizens?
Then we could have debate that is not partisan and is based on facts and reason not which political 'team' you belong to.
Should it be a key point that this movement would like to remove the idea of political parties and replace them with individual responsible for their decisions in congress?
What are your thoughts?

George Washington...
Warned of political factions in his farewell speech.
“The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.”
Information NOW available to the voters, not so much in the past
the recent past. The MSM spoon fed everyone the details on each candidate. Now that we have the internet, we can troll alternate news sources, search history and actually figure out for ourselves (those of us that still have our own mind) who is worth a hoot to vote for.
WE WILL WIN THIS!!
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
~ Margaret Mead
I like your Optimism
If people would just take the time to absorb a few of the ideas that have been put forward by Ron Paul and other libertarians I am sure they would be happier.
I know this movement has calmed me down a lot a made it easier to focus on how to live in a better society and that is to let people live as they please as long as they do not deny you the same freedom.
We are all different so if you want to limit someone else's freedom expect it to come back to bite you one day. That is what the bankers are reaping now.
Lord Acton, Lord Chief Justice of England, 1875 - "The issue which has swept down the centuries and which will have to be fought sooner or later is the People v. The Banks."
We can
The problem is the two parties have had the fix in for so long, they dont want to give it up RELAX everybody. WE have ALREADY won..
