Jesse Benton just lost 2 California Ron Paul Votes

California's Presidential Primary is CLOSED, which means you need to be registered GOP in order to cast a vote for Ron Paul.

My in-laws are generally registered Democrats who love liberty and (oddly) hate taxes. They pinched their noses and registered Republican in 2008 and voted for Ron Paul.

I figured they'd do the same this year.

What happened? They both voted for Barack Obama on the Dem ballot.

"It doesn't matter that I didn't vote for Ron Paul because he dropped out."

Like hell he did. Benton's announcement is exactly the root cause.

"What the OP is telling you

"What the OP is telling you is that this FUBAR by the Benton and the campaign is responsible for creating the PERCEPTION that Paul has dropped out or has at least given up."

This is part of the manufactured consent, IMO. Part of the media created perception. They used the Daily Paul to help create this perception. It was an interesting gambit that used our own tools against us.

I didn't see a FUBAR, but I don't follow the MSM.

Dr. Paul said he was going all the way to Tamps. How were people confused by that statement?

Free includes debt-free!

I don't follow the MSM either. I only catch what I see here on

DP or what family members tell me they saw or heard.

I read the email first hand and it was clear to me this was a repeat of 2008.

Paul was without officially ending the campaign - not going to seek the nomination any longer.

It's been explained over and over.

Benton's language is clear. There is NO PATH to the nomination.

They were also clear, Benton and Paul and Tate - the purpose of going to Tampa now is to influence the platform and build the party for the future - AFTER 2012.

What parts of those statements don't you understand. Or is it you are just selective with what you take from them?

What I like about this post

What I like about this post is that your in-laws voted Paul last time, thought he dropped out and switched to Obama. It kind of shows how lame of a candidate Mitt Romney is and that some people see him as being as bad or worse than Barack Obama (which is my personal opinion as well). If you read MittRomney.com , you will realize he has no real plans to cut spending or fix healthcare and his foreign policy (especially towards Iran) is completely insane. He wants to arm and assist Iran's opposition! We all remember how well that worked when the US helped Bin Laden.

In or out

A person is either a Revolution Patriot or not. You either believe Paul (well earned after 36 years)or you don't. His last interview he said he was in to win. He has a strategy or he's lying. He has asked his true supporters to help with delegates...work your state convention (I am). He's not asking for blood.

You're in-laws are Ron Paul fans...

...and you assumed. I guess that makes it your fault. Thanks!

You didn't have to put a bumper sticker on your car, donate, or wave a sign. You only had to make sure your family all knew they could and should vote for Ron Paul if they so desired.

Way to go pingish! Anything else you assumed would just happen?

You are assuming the OP hasn't done everything they could to

prevent that from happening.

Just because they weren't successful at it, doesn't mean they didn't do it.

Look in the mirror when you talk of making assumptions.

Wait a minute. Your in-laws

Wait a minute. Your in-laws love liberty and hate taxes, and yet voted for Barack Obama. Well, someone is a liar. It is either your in-laws, who are either lying about being liberty loving tax haters or lying about voting for Obama, or it is you that is lying about the whole damn story to give yourself a platform on which to launch a tirade against Jesse Benton. Either way, I can't believe I've already wasted so much time on this drivel.

Have to agree, real Liberty

Have to agree, real Liberty loving Tax haters would not have voted for Obama.

people will downvote you down down down cause they

dont want to hear the truth...

Ron Paul was drawing masses of people everytime he showed up and suddenly when he started to lift of(we talked about filling big stadiums..!!!) he stopped :/ and gave everyone who is not a die hard RP supporter the signal: I'm out!

I dont understand it cause we had enough money to have an event every other day in Texas or California. There was no sign that the people would stop coming to his speeches. The opposite! With every Speech he drew more and more people!

Then out of nowhere he stopped and everyone, other then the daily paul, is sure that he is out! Its a shame..

The reason? He either didnt want to be President or he got pressed that something will happen if he continues to talk about revolution to students...

and now let the downvotes and hate of the delusional ron paul sheeple(blind sheeple NOT supporters) begin.. :/

I experience the same as the OP. You can tell them what you want. YOu dont see RP anywhere and he dropped out. Some weeks ago you could show them..here he draws masses every week.. frustrating! very frustrating!

I'm now waiting for the campaign to announce that our bound delegates should vote for whomever they are bound to. :/

Just shut up.

Just shut up.

Would you STOP being so

Would you STOP being so ignorant?

Ron Paul at worst OKed ev3ry single word Jesse Benton wrote, and most likely WROTE THEM HIMSELF.

It is unfathomable that you would come on this site and basically say "Ron Paul is as fucking senile old man who is too incompetent to do anything about a rogue staff member who release an e-mail that he didn't agree with!"

And that is EXACTLY what you are saying if you are suggesting that Jesse Benton wrote that e-mail without Ron Paul's permission.

which makes it even worse...

At least they didn't vote for Rmoney.

And if your in-laws believe the LSM over you, you have a LOT of work to do.

James Madison

They didn't believe the

They didn't believe the media. They believed Ron Paul's OFFICIAL campaign. Which is what Jesse Benton's e-mail was.

The campaign seems to be toast...

if there was any doubt that they threw in the towel a couple of weeks ago, the total disappearance of Ron Paul on the national AND local scenes spoke a thousand words. I wanted this revolution to win as badly as anyone (and Im not even pointing fingers at any particular individual). But the campaign has seemingly decided to leave the grassroots to our own devices, without so much as a word of encouragement. Dr. Paul hasnt appeared anywhere in the media for over three weeks. He hasnt just stopped campaigning, he's stopped doing interviews and speeches altogether.

Who knows what's going on behind the scenes, but the RP2012 campaign calendar has been totally empty going forward. I had heard the the Doctor was going to Texas and Washington state conventions, but there's nothing scheduled. I'd hate to see the rEVOLution go out with such a whimper

"Terrorism is the war of the poor, while war is the terrorism of

There were more 300,000 counted votes for Paul in MI, TX

And somehow a campaign staff off less than a thousand carries more weight than over a half a million supporters in those two states alone.

Are we free men and women brave enough to move forward to cause liberty without a central controller or nanny to hold our hand?

Obviously the Campaign has been over shadowed by "The Campaign" where every one is a campaign manager plus local campaigns, tea parties and meet-ups, State Campaigns, Super brochures, Liberty classrooms, Daily Paul. So the list goes and grows.

I wish that we did get a peep

It would be nice to know whats going on. They did have a money bomb in which we got to their goals and that was the last I heard from them. I am not to worried about it...but it does feel very odd.

The beauty pageant is rigged so get them to be delegates :)

United we stand or divided we fall. Divide & Conquer.

Try to focus that frustration on the MSM. I know it's hard b/c JB should have known they'd twist the truth.

What kind of Ron Paul supporter are you

that you didn't keep them informed? You should have told them that day that Ron Paul was not out. Blame yourself on this one.

History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.
Dwight D. Eisenhower

My sentiments exactly!

I may not be doing all I can, but I am damn sure making certain that everybody I know gets emails every day regarding the truth about the Ron Paul campaign and how it's doing. Don't blame Benton for this. Blame yourself, brother. How is it that your family didn't know? Everybody who's a Paul supporter knows that the word MUST be spread BY US.

Blaming Benton as the exact root cause for them not voting for Paul is just silly.

To arms! To arms! The Redcoats are coming!

And I also agree. Changing your vote

based on this seems ridiculous. You know Ron Paul's stance, his views, his values, and his principles. Your vote should be based on this, not an email. This email did not change any of that.

Especially since Obama didn't "need" the vote in the primary

If they supported Paul, why vote for Obama in the primary. Obama will be on the Democratic ticket no matter what.

I agree with the number of others that say this makes no sense.

UHm, I did keep them informed

They wouldn't believe any of it.

Who's more credible, me or CNN, MSNBC, Fox, ABC news?

Something smells fishy. They

Something smells fishy. They voted for him in 2008 but they wouldn't believe you when you told them he is still in the race. If this is true, which I seriously doubt, then you need to have a WAY better relationship with your in-laws.

Perhaps the thinking from the campaign is

that no matter how hard Ron Paul tries, if doesn't matter. It will only matter if the people rise up and do it. As the liberty movement converges on Tampa, the story must be and will be that the people have come to town to take their country back, not Ron Paul..... and the people then choose Ron Paul to be their leader. He can't be seen as instigating a fight, which it will be, but rather a person willing to be the peacemaker and lead.

Dr. Paul wants to be one of us, a free people.

He shared his principles with us and we found that we shared those same principles.

Free includes debt-free!

Ron Paul has made it

Ron Paul has made it perfectly clear that he will NOT accept any nomination if it is obtained by Romney bound delegates voting for him.

The reason he has put that out there is because he knows it would fail anyway, and he doesn't want you fucking idiots to fucking up EVERYTHING he has worked for in the last 3 decades just to bring his delegate count up from 250 or so to 600 at he most. NO ONE at Ron Paul's campaign thinks that there will be anywhere NEAR 1144 Ron Paul delegates voting...stealth or not. Even the most OPTIMISTIC (Delusional) counts show him with 300 at best, several hundred behind Romney, and after next Tuesday, Romney's lead will increase by 250 more, since you can't stealth slates.

Ron Paul also is trying to prevent this because he is FAR smarter than that dumb fuck Ben Swann and he knows that if delegates attempt to vote for Ron Paul if they are bound to Romney, that here are plenty of rules that will allow the GOP to prevent it. And then it is Bye Bye to that delegate. He/she will have spent thousands of dollars to get to Tampa for NOTHING because a replaced delegate is replaced for ALL votes. And that delegate will likely even be escorted out of the building since you will be considered no longer a member of the party.
