Daily Paul Malware Alert

UPDATE: I've made contact with the ad service provider that is supplying the code that Google is flagging as malicious. They are aware of the problem and are working with Google to solve it. The Daily Paul is not the only site that is being subject to this treatment. Hopefully this will get sorted out soon.

As many regulars here have noted (here, here, here, here, and here), dialing into the Daily Paul on Chrome or Firefox results in a Google red screen that says the Daily Paul contains malware. No such warning appears when using Safari or IE. Further investigation shows that Google has classified the Daily Paul as 'suspicious', in spite of the fact that:

Of the 658 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 0 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 2012-05-31, and suspicious content was never found on this site within the past 90 days

Over the past 90 days, dailypaul.com did not appear to function as an intermediary for the infection of any sites. This site has not hosted malicious software over the past 90 days.

After much investigation, it appears that this is a false alarm. Google is listing some standard ad server code - which has been on the site for over a year - as suspicious. We may also be the subject of a dirty tricks attack, as the 'suspicious' page Google is flagging is this one: Why I am Endorsing Mitt Romney for President and Not Ron Paul.

Thank you everyone for your patience. We're working on getting this straightened out as soon as we can.

No problems here...

I have Internet Explorer and I have had no problems getting here. I don't use Google for anything. Google was a huge Obama support site in 2008, been boycotting ever since.

I thought something was up

I was taken to a fake malware virus scan page last night without even clicking on anything. Luckily, I interupted it before it did anything to my laptop. I closed everything down so quick, I didn't get a look at the url it took me to, so I don't know it's source.

Were you in DP? What thread? Did you click on any links?

Good Grief!!

I HATE GOOGLE!! I don't know anything about computers BUT my dedication do Dr Paul and Daily Paul persevered!! I downloaded FireFox because my Safari turned Marxist on me! Here I am...TaDa!! I am so proud of myself :o)

Uh Oh...

A warning popped up and said something about DP being an attack page and I still had trouble but made it here again. Is there a CONTACT number for GOOGLE?? Does this have something to do with Schmide (google dude) being at the Bilderberg meeting??

Google reports 3 pages had malware

This is what I got:

Computer Rebooted

Using XP with Chrome. About one second after I navigated to DP, my computer rebooted. I finally got in and posted this. I also had a problem with the Mozilla site but every other site has been OK.

1 ...Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

haha, me too.

I also rebooted into Linux. There is no way I trust Microsoft or Apple. I guess the only reason for the governemnt not tearing this big companies up must be because they are in bed with each other.

Ya Think?

That Endorsement is so classic, I'd print that out and distribute it virally if you still can. After all, it's for Mitt.

Could not log in until

I was able to log into the DP using Firefox on mac.

Safari and all other browsers on a PC have been unsuccessful!

I confess. I wrote the 'malicious content'.

It's entitled "Why I am Endorsing Mitt Romney for President and Not Ron Paul". ;-)

Anyway, since I was already a paranoid conspiracy theorist, can you see why this incident might not help much?

Seriously, don't you think its kind of a coincidence that the 'suspicious' page just happens to be one of the most popular posts I have ever written?

It's simple. We're "suspicious" because we're anti-RMoney. Or to my way of thinking, we pose a threat to either of the Obamas, the D one (Barack) or the R one (Mitt.)

I hope that there will be an honest law enforcement individual at some level to fight any real wrongdoing being done by their goons.

Very suspicious

That post really hit a nerve, let's twist the blade and por salt on the wound, i know I had it posted to Facebook within 5 min of reading. Well done space, keep it coming!!

If you sent a drone missile to my address marked on Google maps it would miss by a country mile.

And no, I'm not saying how far or in which direction. ;-)

That's why I use Linux Mint.

That's why I use Linux Mint. Linux Mint is a free, and open source operating system. I haven't had a virus once. Its user friendly and has a tone of software you can install for free.

this is getting ridiculous. Honestly if the GOP/RNC/ESTABLISHMENT/NWO Creeps weren't pulling every other trick in the book to hinder the movement, I wouldn't think twice about this being just coincidence. I work in IT, this kinda stuff happens all the time. But given the circumstance, and the timing, I feel in my gut this in just another trick they are playing to keep people from learning the truth.

RMoney and his Establishment hacks are so dumb they thought DP

is a porno site. Thus the malware attacks. What Mitt Witts!!

I was infected

I don't know if they're related or not, but my anti virus software picked up a troj-sirefef.dd virus yesterday that is proving to be a pain to remove. So far, Dailypaul has been the only site I visit that's now listed as being a bad guy. I'm blaming it on the Romney folks.

What OS?

From what I've seen, if you're a windows user you really want to be using Vista or newer. XP and earlier are virus hell. (Back in my XP days I dealt with that by creating a new user with no rights to do anything and running the web browser as that user. That way any time a virus tried to insert itself it would cause an access violation and instead of my computer getting infected the browser would just crash.)

Even if you are using Vista or newer, you _must_ keep up with the current security patches. (As soon as they're released you can bet virus writers are analyzing them to figure out how to infect people who don't keep up to date.)

I've only gotten a single virus since moving to Vista (which was shortly after they released SP1 for it) and it was very easy to remove -- just kill the process (you can see/kill it via task manager), and then use regedit to remove it from whichever "run" directories it's stuck itself in. (If you don't do that last step the virus will just restart when you reboot.)

I also use both IE and firefox. I have IE running as "minimal" (no javascript, no flash, no a bunch of other stuff) and use IE for as much as possible and only use firefox when I need to. (And yes, the one virus I got was via firefox.)

Unfortunately at work we've

Unfortunately at work we've got XP running. Our IT guy is taking care of it, but it still sucks when it happens. Thanks for the advice, this is why I choose apple over PC

if it was the DP

then this would not be isolated case and more people would be infected.
