Daily Paul Malware Alert

UPDATE: I've made contact with the ad service provider that is supplying the code that Google is flagging as malicious. They are aware of the problem and are working with Google to solve it. The Daily Paul is not the only site that is being subject to this treatment. Hopefully this will get sorted out soon.

As many regulars here have noted (here, here, here, here, and here), dialing into the Daily Paul on Chrome or Firefox results in a Google red screen that says the Daily Paul contains malware. No such warning appears when using Safari or IE. Further investigation shows that Google has classified the Daily Paul as 'suspicious', in spite of the fact that:

Of the 658 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 0 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 2012-05-31, and suspicious content was never found on this site within the past 90 days

Over the past 90 days, dailypaul.com did not appear to function as an intermediary for the infection of any sites. This site has not hosted malicious software over the past 90 days.

After much investigation, it appears that this is a false alarm. Google is listing some standard ad server code - which has been on the site for over a year - as suspicious. We may also be the subject of a dirty tricks attack, as the 'suspicious' page Google is flagging is this one: Why I am Endorsing Mitt Romney for President and Not Ron Paul.

Thank you everyone for your patience. We're working on getting this straightened out as soon as we can.

Thanks for the help D-bag.

Thanks for the help D-bag. The only reason I joined 9 weeks ago was so I could complain about this 9 weeks after I joined. You can't possibly be calling me out for this? For your info, the only reason I finally joined was because I had some great shots of the good Dr. while he was in Madison and wanted to share.

time of membership doesnt

time of membership doesnt matter, im still not a member of youtube but ive used it for years. Same with the DP, ive followed paul since 2009 but only joined the DP in the passed year to "get involved" and this is how I see it when I try- http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/8629/dailypaul.jpg

Hey Doc, try loading Malwarebytes Antimalware..it saved my arse

Countless times..good luck ripping that RMoney virus scum out.

And HitmanPro

to scan the machine every time it is started.

I'm still getting the alert using Firefox

When clicking "why was this site flagged" it gave a clean bill of health in every category.

It was awful hard to click thru to the site anyway, but it finally let me do it

Alert removed now?

I was able to access the dailypaul without the alert.

Way to go!

Wait.. malicious content in

Wait.. malicious content in Ads?

I'm pretty sure that I said that on this site a year+ ago and told everyone to use ad-blocking plugins to prevent (a) being shown the ads & (b) prevent malware infections via malicious ad campaigns. I was flagged down and told by mods not to recommend ad-blocking plugins because that's how DP made money.

Let this be a lesson. Ad's are bad. They hog bandwidth and ARE used for malicious campaigns. Don't be at the mercy of the ad-provider. Simply block the ad's with Ad-Block plus, Ghostery, NoScript, NoFlash and tons of other plugins.

Hate this happened on the DP, but it's not a shock that an ad gets placed here that subsequently gets flagged for malicious scripting.

It isn't any particular ad adam

it is the ad service coding itself that is triggering it, and it is in the process of being resolved.

(and PS, I didn't down vote your comment just so you know)

Exactly. Malicious content

Malicious content (or code) from Ad-serving companies which triggers safe warnings from search providers. Sometimes that code actually infects people as it did with the NYTimes.

EVERYONE should block ad's for their own safety.

I use Startpage in Firefox.

I haven't had any Google "threats," but Firefox has flagged a few DailyPaul links. Thanks for your clarification, Mr. Nystrom.

Ron Paul wins 2012. Get ready for it. :)

This is too much to tolerate

This is too much to tolerate. (More than a coincident or mishap) It is infuriating. Google does not provide a way to proceed to the site without a cut and paste. This will dramatically reduce Ron Paul's support, discouraging many supporters as intended. Makes me want to throw up.

If you're infuriated, "They" win.

Take your anger and use it as motivation for a positive focus. Fear and Anger are the Establishment's tools. We're smarter than that now, we know their tricks.

As someone pointed out in another post, this is Phase 3 of 4 of the Gandhi quote:

"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win."

They ignored Ron Paul, pretending he didn't exist.
They ridiculed and accused US of "dirty tricks" while THEY committed them
They NOW fight us by attacking the DP, very ineffectively, I might add

Good sir

It is not just FireFox and Chrome. I tried to click on a DP link from google and it was giving me the problem you had stated, but I am using Internet Explorer. Question: Has there been a greater influx of traffic to your wonderful site?

Don't use google!

Use startpage (or some other google-leech) and then that won't happen.

Google's search results are often not direct links to where you want to go. They only pretend to be! Google performs a "man-in-the-middle" attack on you when you use them. Try this:

  1. enter search term into google (for this test I used "foo")
  2. wave mouse over (but don't click!) the first "link" and look in the web brower's info bar while you do this -- I see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foobar
  3. now try to right-click on the "link" and "Copy shortcut" -- like a bit of evil magic it is no longer a link to wikipedia, but a google link: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=foo&source=web&cd=1&v...

I used to use google a lot before they started pulling this crap. This interception lets them track you -- see which links you are clicking. And as you have found out, it also allows google to redirect you to their own page (e.g., a malware warning page) instead of to the link you were actually trying to click on.

Stop thinking everything in the world is a coincedence, its not.

You're right, it's synchronistic.

Everything happens for a reason. Reasons unique to each and every one of us.

Okay...I'm running Safari via my IPod Touch and no issues

Seems to be cleared now. Earlier, Safari on my MacBook, Dolphin HD on Android and Firefox on XP's were a no go. Ironically, the dreadfully malware prone IE and Opera Mini on Android were favorable for Daily Paul viewing.

I was at a site last night that was blocked too.

But this site had NOTHING to do with the liberty movement. It was for a local restaurant sampling competition, so I'm not sure if this is some kind of censorship or not

I haven't had a problem

I use firefox and haven't seen any malware warnings. Weird.

Just had a problem

Yeah its starting to pop up on me also. What kind of shenanigans are they trying to pull.

Ya, it is scary. Real scary.

Ya, it is scary. Real scary. "..then they fight you..THEN..."

Obvious point here...

Don't use IE or Safari, they won't protect you from squat. Chrome and Firefox all the way! (I personally use only Chrome these days)

I have also had cyber threat warnings

On Google chrome....I switched and was able to access the post on Foxfire but another post was tagged by Foxfire also. I simply clicked on the proceed with warning button. The one that was tagged gave the stream to the Washington state convention in Tacoma........about 3 minutes later I received a call from an unknown number.....I did reverse look-up and the number originated from GUESS WHERE? Tacoma, Washington. The GOP or the Romney campaign has all of our numbers and tracks our internet usage...especially if you are listed as a delegate or alternate.Accept the fact that fighting for liberty is unpopular with the establishment. That will not stop me.....If they check my usage they will see a citizen that believes in the constitution, does not break the law,has never been arrested for drugs and is a member of the republican party, but supports with enthusiasm the policies that Ron Paul brings to the table. It is going to be very interesting to see how the GOP is going to try and undo these kind of violations and get the Liberty wing on board to vote for their chosen candidate in November......if he actually gets the 1144 delegates needed.

This is absolutely

The work of the RNC and the Romney people.

So interesting that this happened right before the caucus conventions...

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Do you ever require verified facts before you conclude something "absolutely"? Do you always reach your absolute conclusions based on pure conjecture?

"Know what you know, know what you don't know, and understand and appreciate the distinction."

The message I got

How accurate it is, I do not know, but the message I got said that the site had been REPORTED as an attack site.

Now who would report this site as an attack site "where malicious software can be installed on your computer to steal personal information" if not someone against the liberty movement?

It's not a conspiracy theory, someone reported this site, again, according to the message I got.

The two most important days in your life are the day you are born...and the day you find out why. -Mark Twain

Considering your support of a Romney/Paul ticket...

based on your previous posts most notably the one asking if we would support a Romney/Paul ticket, your comment doesn't surprise me. http://www.dailypaul.com/234727/assuming-romney-gets-the-nom...

I find it extremely convenient for the Romney campaign to have this site all of a sudden be flagged right before all of the conventions this weekend. Seeing that the Romney camp/RNC have made it very clear that they are willing to stoop to any level of cheating to get their man nominated, I wouldn't put this beyond their level of despicable tactics.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
