Should Ron Paul Supporters Apply for Food Stamps?

(edit)

With the recent 'controversy' over Dr. Paul receiving and accepting his Social Security Insurance payments, I've 'bumped' this thread back into the conversation:

QUESTION:

Should Ron Paul supporters apply for food stamps, housing assistance, energy assistance, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera???

(Previous content referencing Atlas Shrugged has been submitted as a comment below)

Yes...

You'll most likely never get back everything the government has taken from you monetarily over the years anyway. You'll never be in the black, always the red.

To me, this is very much like the Ron Paul Earmark non-issue. It's your money anyway. Get back what you can, any way you can!

NOTE: I am not advocating violence in any way. The content of the post is for intellectual, theoretical, and philosophical discussion. FEDS, please don't come to my house.

Exactly.

Not only is it the currency they take from you, but also what you could have built with the currency , had you invested it yourself.

no

Free handouts-
There is NOOOO way in hell. It's just something about actually getting off our arse and work for a living. It's the pride of knowing I paid for every damn thing I have from working my butt off while I was younger. Didn't need their control then and sure the hell don't need it now.

Opposing force.

I think you are assuming that people who work for a living don't qualify for food stamps. I don't, but many do. And if the program is there and someone follows the rules, then why not use them. Why would you pay taxes and not utilize the programs. You use public roads, airports and benefit from other free handouts, so why not food stamps.

yes, we qualify--

and we work our fingers to the bone; we are in our 60s; we worked all our lives--

one of us went to work at 11; the other at 15--

we haven't stopped; we also went to college, graduated, did graduate work (both of us) and never used any government assistance; sometimes we went hungry--

and now we are poor--

we qualify for food stamps, but we don't take them/get them; for one thing we are too busy trying to survive to take the time out to fill out the papers; for another thing, when we search our hearts . . .

we don't want to take the help.

We want to feed ourselves. We only use SS. We know how much we've paid in, and we're only getting a tiny fraction of it back--

One of us qualifies for SS disability, but we haven't applied for that either--

we could get medicare/medicaid, but we don't want to apply for that either; we don't want to use it--

and we even paid into that--

and now we HAVE to have insurance; we don't have the money to pay for premiums, not for Obama's 'insurance plan', not for 'private' insurance--

we have been taking care of our own health--

it's an outrage--

I'm glad there are those who can retire and enjoy life; we'll work 'til we drop--

*speaking of which; must get back to work*

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

No

If you're a hypocrite well go ahead an accept redistribution of wealth in its most obvious form. If you want to stop the system yo uh be to get out of the system.

______
"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."

Not a logical strategy.

Do you invest in the stock market? If you do then you are a hypocrite for accepting redistribution of wealth when the government enters into the market. Do you use FRNs in anyway, when for example, you make purchases? If you do then you are a hypocrite for using a corrupt monetary unit. Do you pay taxes, if you do than you are supporting the criminals who rob you. You have very few choices. In order for you to not be a hypocrite, you would have to get out of the system. But the beast is everywhere.
However, using an analogy, such as that of driving cattle. You can run at the beast head on but she will crush you. You can try to use brute force against the beast, put a rope around her head, pull her to the ground, but she will fight back, drag you about and waste a lot of your energy. Or you can conduct the beast, prodding her one way and another, weakening her and making it easy to drive her where you want her to go.
Is it ridiculous that the Federal government is involved in food distribution? yes.
Is it ridiculous that the Federal government is involved in health care? yes.
Is it ridiculous that the Federal government is involved in education? yes.
If you fight the Feds head on about these projects, she will fight back with every effort including military force. If you try to put restraints on the government it will drag you about. However, if you draw energy away from the government using programs such as food stamps, health care and education. Then there will be less energy for the Feds to use on military force, while you will be left strong.
Once the beast is weakened you can get it to go in the direction you want.

you've put it well--

people who invest are top feeders--

a friend of ours was an investment 'specialist'; after 9/11 he became very depressed; it was so hard to find 'clean' investments for his people; he died not long after that--

he confided that it was really difficult for him to find ethical investments for his wealthy customers--

he was also a very wealthy man--

but he saw through it all--

he was actually a libertarian--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Surviving the killing fields of Minnesota

Todays brainwashing: GMO's are safe

we've drawn the line at SS--

because we know how much we paid into it; it's a lot--

because we are not young; many of our friends/family retired much younger than we are now--

But we never paid towards food stamps, and even though we qualify, we won't accept them unless we have to; we store food as an alternative to needing food stamps--

as for medicare, etc., we have paid into that as well, but we don't want 'help' from the MIC--

so we haven't signed up for that; we just hope we can stay alive by eating good foods we don't get on food stamps--

housing assistance? no--

no.

We never paid for that either; never mind that we've paid enough interest to have purchased several homes--

we didn't give that $ to the government--

it's all a scam, though, isn't it?

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Are veterans disability

Are veterans disability checks a handout?

Many years ago I made the decision not to accept

government handouts such as free cheese or food-stamps because I didn't like who I had to be to play that game. I wasn't willing to pay the price required of my heart, mind, emotions and soul to become a slave to the system. As a freemen I chose to make my own way no matter what.

I believe that SS money was taken by threat of force or supposedly borrowed so that is a different story than welfare or food stamps. However my last SS report said I was entitled to a whopping $6 plus change each month when I retired, and to me thats not worth the time, effort or risk of being on the leash; If you know what I mean.

If anyone else feels they need the assistance or are due resources, then who am I to says whats right or not right for them.

Absolutely!

BEST SITUATION: If you qualify and you don't need it, then go for it! Use the extra money in your surplus food budget to pay for RonPaulChannel.com; donate to RandPAC, C4L, LPAC, or lastly other liberty candidates.

This is what we call making the system eat itself!

like a 401 savings

If you don't spend it the government will. Ron Paul knows people including his son that don't really hear him. And he is fine with that. His faith always carries him. GOD Bless Ron Paul. My Opinion.

Money talks and dogs bark

Dr. Paul has said the current system is necessary for now

but is not a good one. We cannot 'not' help people or take help when needed for ourselves and our families. He said we should be looking to end these programs gradually after properly funding (through charities) some local non-governmental safety nets. People will always have these problems, the difference must be in the solutions. He often cited the age old use of church/charity hospitals, food pantries/charities for the poor, etc.. He has personally spent lots of time participating in this.

With care...

It is a great price to pay to become entangled in this evil system, but anything---anything---you can do to bring this evil system down while not sacrificing your effectiveness to resist, is an action which deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.

Sadly, I have applied....

for help. Due to a change in my industry, there is no more work. I've been applying to anything and everything since March...if I get anything at all, it's a "Dear John" letter...full-time, part-time...I can't buy a job, not even as a nighttime floor scrubber (I'm over-qualified?). I just want to work and can't. I need help...and, knowing that there is no social security for me when I get to the age...even though I've paid in...I might as well try to get some of my money back. I say, "yes!" ...bleed the system. Apply for anything you can get out of this corrupt system.

been there; done that--

We're not expecting SS to hold out; we're not expecting to see what we put into it over the years (almost 50 for one of us)

Yes. Teabag the System.

Help it to crash hard.

If your house were broken into and someone stole your new flat

screen, and then years later, someone offers to give you a new TV they just stole from someone else, is it "right" to accept it, keep it, and use it? (or take it and sell it for something else you want?)

Why would anyone even ask such an absurd question?

But are food stamps money

But are food stamps money taken from others, or printed out of thin air? I know it's all bad, but at this point, the government is just doling out money as the Federal Reserve creates it from nothing. Another question is, would his refusing food stamps as he and his family expires really help anything? I mean I refused to participate in the cash for clunkers program because I didn't need assistance to purchase a new car. But if I were faced with going hungry...

As long as the validity of the public debt cannot be challenged,

food stamps (or EBT cards) are "money" taken from others. It may be others in the future, but still others.

These programs are also used to justify the very existence of the so-called income tax.

As well, single programs can't be looked at in a vacuum.

Getting back to basics and adhering to both the spirit and letter of the Constitution and the Declaration doesn't mean just no more EBT or SNAP.

It also means no wage/salary taxes on private workers.

It means a VERY small footprint for government, which requires very few taxes to support.

It means productivity is not drained to support the leviathan state.

It means prices will plummet as competition searches for customers with more disposable funds.

It means more jobs available absent stifling regulations, AND more business capital available for expansions.

Sure, nothing will be perfect and pie in the sky.

There will ALWAYS be homeless people.

There will ALWAYS be people down on their luck, just losing a job, having a tough time putting food on the table - that will NEVER vanish.

But what will vanish are the mountain of obstacles to keeping those incidents as few and far between as humanly possible, AND opening up more room for private charity when such hardship does strike.

It would also be easier for people to SAVE for a rainy day than having to live paycheck to paycheck.

There will still be people who spend beyond their means, don't save, and lose their shirt.

They can ask for private help, or figure it out, or starve.

Their lack of financial discipline is zero justification for bankrupting 3 yet unborn generations of Americans in addition to all those presently alive.

It is MY personal responsibility to feed myself, and if I were to have children, them as well.

No where does that entail me stealing from others, or accepting stolen loot to do it.

There are simply too many other lawful options - and there always will be.

The key is, how difficult is it to employ those options and are the difficulties the result of needless government meddling in the economy?

CONSIDER THIS: Our government gives away billions upon billions

...in foreign aid each year, while our own country goes broke.

While it may be anti-intuitive for liberty-people, perhaps this is an alternative way to fight back...

Take your Social Security, food stamps, unemployment, Medicare, Medicaid etc etc etc.

Change the system from another angle. Just hold your breath and proceed until it all collapses.

I'm done arguing and trying to teach people - all the while being considered a nut-job who supported a "crazy and mean old man" for president.

So just quietly take anything you can (which they've stolen from you all your life anyway).

And then sing with me...
