The Police State Grows - My Story - Take Heed!

I grew up on a ranch around cops and learned to trust and believe they were the good guys, because the ones I knew were. They often came out to hunt or practice shooting with my Dad and us kids. Now, I no longer trust police officers, as I used to, or believe that the Police are here to help me. Here's my story:

I had a personal encounter with the police last year, where they tricked me into entering my home, intidimated me and searched my house without my permission.

They came to the side door of my residence where there are no windows and I could not hear them through the solid wood door. I could only hear knock, knock, knock, "POLICE...mumble, mumble,mumble..." Innocent and concerned, I thought maybe a bad guy was in my yard. I made the mistake of OPENING THE DOOR. I saw only two plain clothes detectives standing there with clip boards, they asked me if my son was home, confused and then scared something had happened to him,I said No, why? And then they asked if they could step inside to ask a few questions. I innocently said ...yes, yes!!! I wanted to know if my son was alright, I had nothing to fear, right? WRONG!

Well as they stepped in the other 5 fully rigged cops with guns drawn swarmed in behind them (they must have been hiding along the wall to the right of the door out of my line of vision). They overwhelmed me and took over my home searching (for guns I was to find out momentarily). Not only was I scared to death, I was totally confused, off guard and overwhelmed by this show of deadly force. At the same time I saw other rigged cops swarming my garden and backyard there must have been a dozen cops on my property including the detectives. (BTW I have always been what is called a good citizen. I have never been arrested, never been in trouble in my life, at 58 I have only received 3 traffic tickets in my life! My 14 yr old son they were looking for was with his Dad at the time and is a good student, and not a behavioral problem in the least at school or at home, he's a good kid. So I could not imagine what was going on.)

To make a long story short, a notebook was found earlier that day at school by my son's history teacher. It had a hand drawn picture of a video game forge (where gamers go to build their own melieu to play in, in a game). I believe the game forge they were planning to build was for "Call of Duty" so they showed a building with stairs, tables, hallways, bodies lying on the floor and drew a picture of a machine gun in the diagram. There was also a short list of the three kids who planned on going on X-Box live to play. My son's name was on this list. The teacher did not realize the drawing was a video game, and took it to the principle, and said he was quite sure the notebook belonged to my son (it did not BTW).

The principle, even though he's known me for three years as I am very active at my son' school, did not call me, the parent, he called the SDPD who came calling to my La Mesa City residence (out of their jurisdiction)and tricked me, in my opinion, into searching my home. While the search was going on one of the detectives waved the notebook in my face and berated me for being a bad parent. He purposely intidimated me and told me he had done his "homework" and knew we had guns in the home. I asked when did it become illegal for Americans to own guns? And furthermore, that this was not true, if he had done his homework, he would know that my ex-husband was the owner of the guns and he had taken them with him over a year ago.

One of the cops searching found an airsoft pisol of my sons during the search of his bedroom, and the detective again berated me for allowing my son to have one of these as the cops could mistake it for a real gun. I said that might be possible if my son was allowed to carry it around but he was not, he shoots targets on the property (WE have an acre in a rural area)! Since when was this an excuse to raid my house? (Well, their justification was that the SDPD was on high alert because the anniversary of the Columbine HS shooting was the following week. But I digress...)

I finally grabbed the notorious notebook he was waving in my face, flipped through it and realized it was not my son's notebook afterall as the handwriting was not his. It was too neat. I pointed this out and that the drawing was a video game forge and my son was not plannig an attack on the school, if that was what all this was about.(I must say the look on the cops face was priceless when I told him the notebook did not belong to my son!)By this time my fear was gone to be replaced with righteous rage and indignation at the arrogance, utter stupidity and hubris of these cops. I felt tricked and violated because that is exactly what happened. I trusted them and they betrayed that trust. Never Again!

They finally left when they damn well pleased. And I and my son had to deal with this again in what they intended to be a BIG SCARY MEETING with the cops, the kids and the principle at school the next day, but that is another story.

These arrogant, short-sighted police did accomplished something very important...they WOKE ME UP! I used to respect police officers, but now I have ABSOLUTELY no respect or trust for any cops and lock my front gate, not to keep out the criminals, but to keep the cops out...how sad and telling is that?

When I relate this story to people I get one of two reactions. The #1 reaction is disbelief, they are sure I am lying, exagerating or that I actually did something bad and am not admitting it, and probably deserved what the cops did, becuasae they cannot believe taht cops will do this. The other reaction is the nodding head one, where someone, who has had something similiar happen to them, understands! They know first hand too how far we have fallen. I would not believe this could happen until it happened to me so until law abiding' American citizens feel the boot heel directly on their neck as I had, they will not truly realize how the growth of the police state endangers THEIR Liberty.

I am sharing my story to help prevent this from happening to you. I do not open the door to Cops for ANY reason. Frankly, from another DP post yesterday, I learned about Terry Ingram who teaches how to handle police encounters. Here's a link:

I am very grateful I found this and now you and I can start learning more about how to handle the inevitable encounters with the police. So, please take heed of my story and be prepared, because you're next...

Thank You

Thanks for posting the link to this video. As I was reading the story of what happened, I'm thinking to myself of this exact video. Everybody needs to watch it. It's very interesting that the detective basically agrees that nobody should ever talk to the police!

Whoops! I just clicked on the link and found that it is only the first half of the lecture. The second half is a police detective giving his point of view.

Here's the link which includes the whole video:

Wow, Libertybelle, this could have been me.

I have three boys aged 7-13 and they play an online war game and draw tactical maps and such, too...sometimes in random pages of their school notebooks. I, too, am a frequent volunteer at their school and live on one acre lot in a rural area and would let the police in my house in the bat of an eye because I have nothing to hide. My boys also have aerosoft guns. The correlations are scary and quite the wake-up call, so thank you for sharing. I will be bookmarking the link you provided for a closer read later.

You're Welcome!

You, and other like you are why I posted this...

Keep your foot behind the door, so they can not force/barge in.

I learned from a personal incident, I was visiting my parents home in the peoples republic of North New Jersey, and police rang the bell. I answered and they asked if my father was home. I said I don't know, they then asked if anyone else uses my fathers van. I said yes many people including myself.

I told them to wait, and I will go check for my dad. I went to the basement and found my father passed out drunk. As I tried to wake him, I then turned around to go upstairs to my surprise the officers are there. I never invited them in, and because I left the door open/unlocked, they felt they had the right to go right in. F ING A HOLES. Could not believe it. I am not defending my father, but the cops just walking in was beyond belief.

Freedom may be worth searching for.

I have given up on my fellow Americans, (not DPers) as I will not shed one more calorie trying to awaken anyone else who is not a critical thinker and does not have the inherent feeling that something is wrong.

A foot doesn't count, better

A foot doesn't count, better have a chain on the door!

Forget youR Foot in the Door Approach!

If they do not have a warrant, Don't open the door and you do not have to talk to them, ask them to leave your property. Ask them to send you a letter explaining why they came to your house. Better yet ck out the link...

a foot with some shoes on, without carpeting

is very strong, and also the door flexes so it is not jarring as a chain, but you can do both. Most rural houses do not have a chain.

My Storey is similar

I am a 53 year old woman. I have worked all my life and raised three children. I have a 45 acre farm near a college campus and state park. One day, I was picking tomatoes in my garden, and a black helicopter hovered over my head. So close I could wave to the pilot and see his face. The trees were blowing around. Next thing I know, two unmarked cars pull into my driveway and hippie looking cops get out. The marijauna eradication task force. They run through the woods and return with a handful of wimpy looking ditchweed. I laughed at this kinda. By this time there are 5 hatchback Volvos and a police car in my driveway. About a dozen guys, 6 vehicles and a helicopter to snatch 5 or 6 crappy plants without any buds on them. They ask to search my house and I say no. I had a young Korean exchange student living in my house and when the cops took his passport he started to cry! He thought his parents would be disgraced and he would be deported. He didn't know anything about the plants, just was scared to death by the thugs with guns. He had no clue what was going on and I told him to stand near me and I would take care of him. The head honcho and I got into a long discussion about him searching my house. I told him go get a warrant. He said OK, you go sit in the police car in the sun with the windows up. The temperature was over 90 degrees. He said you are being detained and tried to put me in the car making a point to tell me that he would take hours to get the warrant and I would probably die of heat stroke waiting for him to get back. I let him in the house. They searched the entire house finding nothing of consequence of course. By this time, they decided to use my large farm and driveway as the meeting point for the entire task force while they searched the nearby 60,000 acre state park. They stayed in my house all day and made them selves quite at home, looking in every drawer and closet until a certain peace was established between us and they finally left. No charges were filed. Thank God.

I know you are telling the truth

And I know what you mean about peoples reactions, never underestimate the ability of the sleepering to blame the true victims, it is truly shameful.

cops think this way

if you open the door to talk to them, that is their invitation in
even if stated otherwise
they can't take a drunk minor who just ran into another vehicle
on a private commercial property, but they think they can do whatever
on yours, which is also private property

Thank you for this info!

I typically don't answer my door unless I know who it is but I certainly WILL NOT open the door to cops should they show up. I grew up knowing many cops, friends & family members. I have a completely different attitude now unfortunately. Boy have things changed in America.

Since there was no permission to search the place, isn't that a violation of some law or something? also.. There was no permission given to the other ones who were hiding outside.. maybe you could sue them?

"Letting them in" is not even remotely the same thing as giving them permission to search. No judge in his right mind would ever rule in their favor.

And not one mention of a warrant.

Warrant?...Warrant?... they

Warrant?...Warrant?... they don't need no stinking warrant...think about it, they can get away with this under the patriot act, when you consider what they thought they might be stopping ( a school shooting). All they want is the collar (a WIN for them that advances their career) your rights be damned.

Exactly Liberty...

We were worried about them coming back with a warrant and the attorney said in our county "most" judges will want *some* kind of evidence in order to issue a warrant. She said, in the county next to us they hand them out like toilet paper. Which is *another* reason not to talk to cops. You are only digging your own grave when you do.

Dear belle,

I feel your pain and can empathize. The cops are not your friends. I had to learn my lesson the hard way also. Much too long of a story to list here. That being the case, I too had a visit from the "authorities" just a few short months ago.

There was a knock at the door in the early afternoon (I work from home) my co-worker (female) answered the door. I heard male voices so I was a bit concerned and ended my phone conversation to see what was going on. In the background I could hear, "we would like to ask you a few questions can we come in?". Now I'm really concerned. When I got to the door they both showed their badges and revealed what depts. they worked for.

They asked me the same question, "we would like to ask you a few questions." Through my research, I remembered the magic words. Not without representation. The one cop asked again, "we only have a few questions we want to ask." My answer was the same. He took one last stab at it and said, "Does that mean you are not going to talk to us without an attorney?" My reply was "yes". Just at that time I looked at the cop on the left and he was turning to go down the stairs to the driveway. That's when I closed the door, ever so gently mind you, just in case they might say otherwise.

If I had it to do over again, I would have said my attorney has advised me not to talk to the authorities without her being there. But hey, they got the message.

Okay, the lesson is, YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO TALK TO THE COPS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. And never, ever, ever, let them in your house. Bid them a good day and close the door.

I immediately made an appointment with my attorney to apprise her of the situation and seek out more information on my visitors. What I learned would scare anyone stiff. A portion of the cops and judges where I live are on the take and will do just about anything to advance their careers. She also said, "you can forget about the Constitution, it does not apply here." Scared the $&*# out of me.

She also clued me into what a "confidential informant" is. This is a person who has been busted and in return for ratting on someone will get a lighter sentence. That person may only know you casually but, they don't care. They will give you up even though you had nothing to do with the case. Why rat on a friend?

I still remember that part of the Miranda rights statement, "anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law". You can bank on it.

Not only do I see this as exercising my Constitutional rights, I also see it as a form of protest. The Constitution is a piece of paper. It cannot defend itself. Stand up for your rights. It's the only way we can preserve them.

Hesus Cristos! I'm so glad no one got hurt!

This is THE definition of a PoliceState: when you can be SWAT raided over a proposed videogame mod!

I seriously wonder if those SWAT bozos in their private time ask themselves just how F'ng ridiculous it is that they look like a bunch of nerds playing polyester Halloween costume dress-up with Star Wars Stormtrooper tacticool-drag, not to mention their PASGT helmets, which were designed directly after the Nazi Stahlhelm for intimidation factor and function.

Hey, gotta give it to the Nazis from a functional design standpoint, but the look of those US Military/SWAT helmets are NOT by accident.

So sad and pathetic. I truly long for the day when someone in passing would say "Hey, it's a FREE country!" And can go 'hell yeaH!' in agreement.

But if you hear that phrase now, it can only be said ironically.

I've never heard anyone utter that phrase and mean it in the last 10yrs. Never.

I long for the day when this geographical locale known as America, can again be recognized as the most freest place on Earth!

Stay vigilant LibertyBelle! God Bless You! And, thank you for sharing and giving us the heads up.

aww... smooches, smooches .oD

that's very kind of you, despite my occasional potty-mouthed outbursts.o)

PS. ain't it crazy though, as if it weren't bad enough that the SWAT is a manifestation of militarization of the police/policestate in America, but from your description, now, it's hard to even distinguish SWAT from a regular uniformed cop.

scary indeed. I wonder if I can develop a DailyPaul post, like some alchemical spell, that will simply 'force' the entire world to wake up one morning to simply do a complete non-compliance dance, against EVERY govt and its corporatist commissars on Earth, all in the same day, same moment, ALL 7 BILLION of us simultaneously, including little rugrats! LOL

Yup, if I could have one wish, it'd be that. That would be the most peaceful day the Earth would experience in a long time.

If one takes a step back, that's how truly easy it is, for a critical mass of humanity to simply wake up all at once, accept the supremacy of the individual and tell the State/the Leviathan, to F' off, as they cannot do anything immoral or unjust that ANY of us won't tolerate anyone else doing, as the foundation of all govt is simply based on FAITH that at its core, that it's considered 'legitimate' and 'functioning' entity in the mind of majority of its populace, somehow.

Faith in a idea, that's all it is.

Sounds so simple don't it? Having faith in a good idea (freedom) and having faith in a bad idea (corporatist govt tyranny), takes the same exact amount of time and effort to decide on.

All it is, is a choice. So simple, yet so crazy that most people don't or willfully refuse to see it, for whatever reason or non-reason.

It's like a mass hypnosis that people tell themselves that they're powerless and 'must' conform with some strangers' orders.

Also, I'm not sure if at any given moment that this fact 'hits' cops: MOST humans do not and cannot 'comply' with a typical cop or any govt commissar's demands, as having to 'comply' with a complete stranger's 'orders' is simply a foreign concept to individuals who consider themselves consciously or unconsciously, free. Which is frankly ALL of humanity. I truly don't know sometimes whether the cops themselves 'get' that the rest of the population don't understand their daily militant command-directive vernacular.

It's the same asinine basis in which fresh 18yo being sent off to Iraq who's never left his zipcode, to warn the Iraqis in English to not approach a roadblock in their own country manned by foreigners who don't speak or respect Arabic.

Because clearly, as once MalcolmX has contended, they're treating blacks as if they're subjects of an occupying army. Well, that occupation has now spread beyond the 'urban warzones.' We're all subject to occupation, in their minds.

I so long for the day when I could hear someone say "Hey man, it's a FREE country!" and nod in agreement, not out of irony.

I have had this same

I have had this same wish...but the matrix is vast and for the many who are stuck there, well, they are now unable to conceptualize what we are even discussing, they exisit in an alternate reality of the mind, believing it is real...a frightening thought in itself!

So it is up to us AmCapMercenary, and the rest of us here, who have chosen the Red Pill to be the tireless minority to create the change you describe so eloquently...
