Bill Richardson Drops out - Welcome Richardson Supporters

0 votes

This just in, Bill Richardson drops his Presidential bid.
Richardson not only is truly against the war in Iraq, but he also understands foreign policy.

I have a feeling many Bill voters will go to Kucinich or Paul, as they are the only two other anti-war candidates, Paul standing the best chance to win the nomination. There is a reason they didn't go to the 'front runners' Obama and/or Hillary, and it's the same reason why Paul supporters don't flock to Romney and Giuliani.

So let's welcome any Bill Richardson supporters to the Ron Paul camp.
You may not agree with everything Paul has to say, but he's honest and will obey the constitution as our new commander in chief.

Think of it this way, if you combined Bill Richardson and Paul's votes in New Hampshire we'd be in 3rd place.

Welcome

just go to Ron Paul Library and you will find tons of information to help you decide. One thing is for sure Ron will get government off your back and out of your savings.

VP run

Richardson is probably setting up to be Hillary's VP

Yeah, except that he's a total open borders fool.

I really don't know if his supporters will join RP but it's certainly worth a shot.

Not like we're putting in a

Not like we're putting in a giant effort here, they'll find us I guess.

My next door business neighbor had a Ron Paul sign up in his window, then replaced it with a Richardson one. I wonder what sign will be there tomorrow?

welcome, fellow democrats...

...I'm cross dressing for ron paul!!!

Register republican, we got the tank filled up with the BIG patriot supporter bucks......and we're getting into the White House and out of Iraq!

Come join the R3VOLution...it'll be the adventure of your lifetime.
Yeehaaaaa!

Welcome!

Both of you!
Ha Ha.
Seriously Richardson supporters are very unlikely to be looking at Ron Paul, lets try to be somewhat realistic.

If any do happen to find there way here, welcome and feel free to ask any questions, most people here wont bite!

Why would you say that ...

There is a lot of common ground ...

OK, I'll bite

What is this common ground?

there is some, but minimal

Richardson is anti Iraq war and did deploy his national guard to NM's southern border to help reduce illegal crossings.

However, on just about everything else, there ain't much. On any issue regarding the economy, monetary or financial policy, they are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Richardson is a big tax and spend nanny state guy. Probably ditto on gun control, strict constitutionalism, healthcare, etc.

So if Richardson voters are potential Paul supporters, they have to be motivated primarily by the war.

The War

Just one other thing to point out. Ron Paul believes in non-interventionisms, Democrats while opposed to the war in Iraq are not necessarily against using our military as a police force and for nation building, foreign wars, and other things that RP opposes. So even on the war in Iraq I think the common ground is only at a surface level. Richardson is practically calling for US troops in Darfur, where else would he send them?

Also when talking about Iraq most democrats are talking about how much it costs us and all the the social programs they could fund with that money, they are not opposed to spending (and borrowing) money, they just want to spend it on their own projects.

As far as immigration sure Richardson is for enforcement, but at the same time is for amnesty. He is also a proponent of the welfare state and as Ron Paul pointed out in the John Stossel interview, if you get rid of the welfare state immigration is much less of an issue.

I admit he is one of the less offense Democrats to me personally, but I still say thinking any significant amount of his supporters will be looking at RP at all is a stretch. I say most of his supporters move to Obama and Clinton without even for a second considering Dr. Paul.

Sorry if anyone views this as negative, Im just being realistic. I think what we should be hoping for is Duncan Hunter to drop out, RP has a real chance of picking up some of his supporters. Thompson is not far behind and we have a much better chance of converting some of them than Richardson supporters.

But again I extend a welcome to any that may find themselves here!

excellent points

That analysis is very correct. Democrats are huge interventionists and have gotten themselves into many wars and actions. Really not that different from Bush as people think. If Clinton had gone into Iraq, there wouldn't have been the same level of uproar. Can you imagine if Bush went into Somalia or Bosnia what we'd be hearing?

I always found Bill Richardson a reasonable guy. I was surprised to some extent by the positions he took during his presidential run, just didn't seem as well thought out as I expected. He tried so hard to play to the left of Clinton and Obama, probably that was the only political space he thought he could capture.

And?

They could go to Kucinich or Gravel, but I think even their supporters will flock to Paul.

Sigh

Please provide some rational reason for why Richardson supporters will flock to Ron Paul?

Welcome

I would have voted for Bill in a heartbeat if I were registered democrat. Cannot wait to watch the country unite under Ron Paul as the neo-cons fall from grace. What is it like 21 days on the Nightly news without a peep or glimpse of Ron Paul from Brian I will never be Tom Brokaw Williams and Tim Russert? Where is the love?

Lots of similarities in policy for he and Paul. Welcome the time is now

Again

"Lots of similarities in policy for he and Paul"

Really? Really really? Are you serious?
I'm begging to think some here have little understanding of the principles and policies of Ron Paul.
