G. Edward Griffin Quote on Gun Control

"Gun-control laws do not control crime because crimes are not committed by guns; they are committed by criminals. Criminals will always have guns because they do not obey laws, including anti-gun laws. Those without guns are easy prey for criminals with guns. Gun control encourages crime.

"The right to bear arms was included in the Bill of Rights, not to deter crime, but to deter oppressive government. Just governments honor and protect the right to bear arms. Oppressive governments fear and prohibit the right to bear arms.

"Guns are dangerous. The only thing more dangerous is not having them."

my FOID application to The Illinois State Police today.

On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and complete narcissistic moron.

Guinness Book of World Records - 1973 edition

Guinness Book of World Records - 1973 edition on pages 368-369 lists the three greatest mass killings in human history:
China during the Mao Tse-tung regime 26.3 million
USSR during the great purge 8-10 million reasonable estimate
Nazi Germany 5+ million.

What it doesn't tell you is each of these atrocities were proceeded by gun registration laws. When the time came the governments involved used the registries to go door to door one neighborhood at a time to confiscate the guns. An unarmed populous are at the mercy of the ones with guns.

Our forefathers understood the need for the population to be armed to defend against a government gone bad. There is no mention of hunting or sports competitions in the bill of rights.

Context for that Griffin quote

It's taken from the website of the organization he founded, Freedom Force International, and entitled "EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT GUN CONTROL IN 99 WORDS!"

He prefaces it by saying:

There have been millions of pages and billions of words written on gun control, and thousands more are added almost every day. How preposterous to claim that all there is to know about this topic can be said in just ninety-nine words. Yet, after reading a substantial sampling of the books and essays (pro and con) that comprise the body of this literature, I have concluded that it all boils down to just two concepts. One has to do with protection against crime; the other with protection against tyranny. All the rest is historical and emotional support for these two main theses. Here, then, reduced to its essence, is my ninety-nine-word summary:

The Ugly History of Gun Control

On the main Gun Control page of the Freedom Force site, they also recommend "The ugly history of gun control", which begins:

The first time you or I confront terrorism - foreign or domestic - we become the first line of defense, and it's too late to call in anyone else. An armed law-abiding citizen is first line of defense for your own family and your country !

The politicians will tell us they want to protect us from firearms crime, by eliminating private ownership of firearms. This is the biggest lie of them all.

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

They also recommend "Why The Gun is Civilization", calling it "A very poignant (short) essay".

We won't witness an out right ban on fire arms

rather we will see a dilution of the right to own one. Any one convicted of any crime will be prohibited from possessing a fire arm. This will include even the most minor traffic infraction. The connotation that fire arm owners are in the same category as pedophiles will be promoted and the mindless masses will be more than happy to cooperate with the planners and willingly ostracize gun owners. If this is taking too long for them you will witness some type of unrest, remember allowing 20 million illegals across the border is no accident, allowing martial law to be declared and all guns will be confiscated, legal guns that is.

If not us than who?

I myself do not own a gun, nor have as of yet.
But I would certainly fight to protect
the right of another American to choose to have one.

By its own admissions, our government is the biggest gun dealer.

I don't either...

But it is nice knowing that all your surrounding neighborhoods do. There is a lot of hunters and many that depend on that for food!

I have heard of...

...cities all over the country that have gun-free zones. It would seem to me that that is where the criminals would like to commit crimes the most.

These "gun-free zones" are often referred to as schools

so I am not surprised when some miscreant takes advantage of this to sling some lead with little fear of return fire.

We taught our son to fire a gun at 3 years old. We taught him to respect them and only use them for defense or hunting if necessary. The sound taught him that they are not something to play with.

Good for you Sheila!

Now if you can keep the government propaganda centers (also know as schools) from brain washing him!
