Ron Paul Concedes: Happy With 4th Place

So I got a depressing EMail from Ron.Paul@ronpaul2012.com today:

Here are the key excepts:

"I wanted you to get an update from me personally, since we have some great news! We stand to send nearly 200 bound delegates to the Republican National Convention in Tampa."

Well, err... if Ron Paul and the Campaign had worked more aggressively, and challenged Mitt Romney, and showed up at the State Conventions, and had not totally vanished out of sight for the last two months while pre-emptively endorsing his corrupt opponent Mitt Romney in public (just as Ron Paul started to get some serious traction) -- maybe then we would have gotten 300-400+ bound delegates ...

More from the EMail:

"We will send several hundred additional supporters to Tampa who, while bound to Romney, believe in our ideas of liberty...

When it is all said and done, we will likely have as many as 500 supporters as delegates on the Convention floor. And while this total is not enough to win the nomination, ...{ a bunch of hollow 'happy-talk' then follows his concession to Mitt Romney }

Once again, had Ron Paul not deliberately cut-off his own momentum, and ducked from sight, and instead aggressively Campaigned in a public and aggressive way against Mitt Romney ... maybe we'd then have 700-900 supporters on the floor. Maybe we'd even have enough to make things interesting... and really throw the Convention in some serious doubt.

But either way an all-too-eager and prematuer concession was not ever the goal here. This is not "great news!" by any stretch of the imagination.

Final point: Whatever the GOP Platform may say or does not say is meaningless, and not any consolation at all. Since when in history have Office Holders ever lived up to promises made in some Party Platform document? Office Holders don't even uphold the Law of the Land (U.S.Constitution). Do we really then believe that Mitt Romney gives a rats ass about "Ending the Fed", or breaking-up the Big Banks, or prosecuting Wall Street?, or Ending the Wars?, or restoring Civil Liberties? Of course not. Words mean nothing. Romney's financial backers are well known, and that is who and what he'll answer to.

So I don't see what the "great news" is here, but the fact that Ron Paul is now happy with this faux result is even more disturbing to me.

Right at the point where his Campaign was starting to become a tour-de-force, and he started winning key States, and drawing huge, huge public crowds........he then suddenly pulled it all back, disappeared, and made no challenge to Mitt Romney on any level whatsoever.

Now Ron Paul was tough against Michelle Bachmann, tough against Rick Perry, tough against Newt Gingrich, and very tough against Rick Santorum.

But when he was left with a one-on-one battle against Mitt Romney, and a battle where he was starting to gain ground, he then just withdrew everything instead of mount any fight whatsoever.

It's like a baseball team being behind 5 - 0 in the 6th inning. Then in the 7th inning they get 2 runs (and cut the lead to 5 - 2), and have a couple-of-guys on base. Then mysteriously, they just walk completely off the field, and publically forfeit the game, and say "okay you guys won...but isn't it great that we got 2 runs".

That's what the last two-months have been like.

But we needed a fighter: Someone who would relentlessly make the case against Mitt Romney, and expose him as a corrupt Wall-Street insider, and not let him just have the limelight or the lead uncontested.

I feel like we were duped here, and NO Ron Paul -- capitulation and quitting two-months early is not "great news!".

We needed a fighter for the people, and a fighter against The Mitt Romney's of the World.

But you weren't willing to do that....

Jesse is feeding RP with numbers, or writes these e-mails...

Uh Huh sure he did, spin the email all you want

Here's the speech he gave the next day at the Texas GOP convention. Seems he had to agree that he'd talk about unifying the party to get the speaking spot. He kept his word and talked about it alright, turned it around on them but he definitely talked about it. Quit? LOL

Yeah it does kinda look like a sham...

Rand Paul: excuses, lies , and where on earth is Ron?

May 8: From LNCC.org"

With the Republican nomination now secured, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is unveiling his jobs plan — spend as much tax money as Obama.

“My job is to get America back on track to have a balanced budget. Now I’m not going to cut $1 trillion in the first year,” Romney said, specifically attacking Ron Paul‘s plan to reduce the cost of government.

“The reason,” Romney claims, “is taking a trillion dollars out of a $15 trillion economy would cause our economy to shrink [and] would put a lot of people out of work.”

Romney specifically ignored the fact taking $1 trillion out of the hands of government reduces debt, reduces borrowing from China and puts that money back into the ecoonmy so it can create wealth and jobs.

Romney believes if government doesn’t spend money, it doesn’t exist."

The time has come. GOP insiders have successfully stolen the election (widespread voter fraud everywhere, violence at the conventions).

Rand Paul disappointingly endorsing Romney, showing he cares more about the republican party and his future plans to try to lead it, rather than constitutionally limited government intended by our founders.

Come home!

Calling all Delegates...

Well today 6/7/12.... Ron Paul just said " I was asked to talk about party unity. What good is unity if it is for the wrong reason" He stressed that at the start and the ending of the speech.... That to me is the green light.... Calling all minutemen (delegates) vote every round only for Ron Paul. PERIOD... It's now or never...

Mitt Romney was first

Mitt Romney was first in being a corporate puppet with lots of money and no real message except "Obama sucks, I am a businessman". Even if Romney somehow becomes president, he will still have a far less impact on this country than Ron Paul. Romney = a puppet who is more of the same that has failed us for too long. Ron Paul = something different with real ideas and a real message, who isn't afraid to be unpopular so long as he is doing the right thing.

You people make me sick. You

You people make me sick. You don't know all the factors of any of the campaign's decisions. You are talking out of your ass. Ron Paul 2012. Rand Paul 2016. 2020? We'll find someone. Like the farmer said to the mule, keep plowing.

Yes. Keep plowing.

The rEVOLution will continue. It will be more local, more stealth, more bottom up. The goal is liberty and the strategy is simply attack on all fronts. Every aspect of government needs to be reexamined.

Rand Paul is a Mitt Romney apologist

He even endorsed him.

Rand Paul clearly is not the answer!!!

you are exactly correct 519rob

This site has been taken over by trolls and even worse, sunshine patriots. They are gung ho as long as things are peachy but let a little cloud form and they run for cover. Me, I'll keep plowing

All sad....

and TRUE.

"Truth is an absolute defense to the charge of paranoia."

TRUE: Paul NEVER went after Romney

Well, a little bit in a couple of ads. That's it.

Even when thousands came to see him speak, he didn't go after Romney.

Can you imagine if he had?

"Know what you know, know what you don't know, and understand and appreciate the distinction."

For someone who supposedly believe in freedom

You sure seem to like telling others what to do.

He's not telling anyone what to do

He's recognizing what someone else did and didn't do.

"Know what you know, know what you don't know, and understand and appreciate the distinction."

Thank You. Well Said

I thought is was a complaint.

That's fine too, we all have to do what we have to do.

Anybody wanna bet

that Romney shoots himself in the foot many times before the convention. He just can't help himself. He reminds me of the little rich kid who was constantly given wedgies in school but could always afford to have a good looking but vacuous girlfriend who was impressed by his wheels. Hang tight and know that it aint over till the fat lady sings. Let Obama and Romney massacre each other with their war chest of millions while the populace becomes mind numbed from their incessant and ineffectual attacks designed to demonstrate some type of non existent difference between them selves. We know the only one who's different and we must continue to spread the word.

There are no politicians or bankers in foxholes.

I concur

Mittens has a history of "gafs". Which is why with or without the campaign's support, we have to keep going. The cause of liberty is growing. I still believe we can pull this thing out. But even if we don't get our heart's desire of RP for pres. (I hate to even think of it), the more effort we put it the more people will be aware and join the cause. And if Mittens continues to trip over himself, we are there to say, See! this man will never do, but I have someone else....

It is futile to fight against, if one does not know what one is fighting for. -Ayn Rand

wolfe's picture

I have to say...

Umm, yep...

The fact is, that there was never once a direct attack on Romney like the other candidates. The fact is, that when it became a two man race, instead of attacking Romney, the campaign basically completely backed down. Deal or no deal, a know a dive when I see one. Especially when you have seen some of his *vicious* congressional ads.

For those that want to believe this was Benton or anyone but Ron Paul - either it is what Ron Paul wanted or he was too incompetent to keep his campaign staff under control. Either way, it does not speak well for him.

But news flash, this happened in 2008 as well. It was clear the campaign's goal was never about winning, which is why even though I more than maxed out in 2008, I wouldn't give a dime in 2012. Burn me once, etc. This time around was even more blatant because he really had a shot this time!

I honestly don't really know what to make any of it. I don't have much interest in speculating as to why, but there are reasons beyond creating a movement, that's obvious. RP isn't stupid, he knows that changing the "party platform" is not a win.

The Philosophy Of Liberty -

Last man Standing

Romney is the last man standing with Ron Paul for the nomination, we all know this. Romney does not have deep support in the right wing of the republican party, nor with evangelicals, libertarians, independents, constitutionalists and pro liberty liberals, we all know this. Gingrich, Santorum and Perry had support from deep within the GOP and the right wing Conservative base. Ron Paul had to "take them out" because he needs the vote of the right wing of the republican party to get the nomination (he has broad support everywhere else).

He has done what he intended, he took out his competitors with aggressive ads without destroying Romney and in the process saved the Republican party, he can now expect to get full support from the Conservative Republicans once he gets to Tampa. His concession this week was a show of support to GOP insiders. They have no clue how many delegates Ron Paul will amass by the Tampa

All Ron now has to do is outnumber the votes from the neo-cons.

Preparation through education is less costly than learning through tragedy

Essentially correct

I'd add only that it never makes any sense for anyone to be a follower.

It's not wise to wait for the next announcement from the campaign or the candidate before knowing what you are going to do.

Followers get nowhere in the quest for liberty.

Listen, learn...sure; but never follow.

There's much to be done and the presidential race is not the most important thing going.

Ron Paul never even tried to run against Mitt Romney

He only ran against everybody else (Bachmann, Perry, Santorum, Gingrich), and then once he had driven them all from the race -- then said: "Whoops.....Never Mind", and immediately folded-up and conceded to Mitt Romney, and just let him go totally uncontested.

He didn't even try.

All he did was clear the field for Mitt Romney.

Ron Paul may not be "stupid", but he sure as hell was not Honest about running for President. And yes, the "party platform" is an unenforcible, meaningless distraction. This is just tilting at windmills.

We needed a fighter, not a phony "campaign" aimed no higher than defeating Mitt Romney's opponents.

The fact is,

That Ron Paul never gave up. He just never really stood a chance as far as states won. Sure, his delegate strategy was smart, but not when you factor in all the states with bound delegates that could only make it easy for Romney to clinch the nomination. It's not a secret that Ron Paul was trailing far behind in delegates. Even CNN and Politico had him at something like 147 delegates which is what Paul was referenced in his e-mail.
Nevertheless, changing the GOP platform IS a tremendous win. Paul realized that when he ran as a libertarian in 1988 he only managed to garner 0.5% of the national vote. So he decided to take the bull by the horns and try to change the Republican party itself by implementing his libertarian views. So if his movement has had any slight impact in the future of the GOP, then it is a HUGE win for liberty in America.

He gave up in the beginning of April

And he hand-held Mitt Romney all the way through the process, instead of contesting his (corrupt) existence.

Happy with Fourth place?

NO! Ron Paul is in Second place. It doesn't matter that Santorum got more popular votes than Paul, the Doctor has more delegates than Santorum. So, basically, Ron Paul has more leverage over the Republican Party platform than either Rick Santorum OR Newt Gingrich.

Bottom line is ..

the liberty movement will not succeed unless it comes from the grass roots. RP knows that.

Those who are sitting around on their arses waiting for a campaign alone to restore America are not being realistic.

So if you are truly decidated to the movement, you will get busy instead of whining. They are many more people to reach, many more offices to run for, so many things to be done and so few patriots to do those things ....

Of course if you are troller and not just whining, then please find another site to troll. The trolling will not divide the movement.

Did you

max out your contributions?

If not...move along troll.

The cowards are out in full force tonight.

There will always be

most of us who support Ron Paul Love The Challenge!

I love a challenge ;)

No One But Ron Paul 2012!

Where was the CHALLENGE Made To Mitt Romney?
