Confused? Betrayed? Let me helpSubmitted by analogbrain41 on Fri, 06/08/2012 - 05:53
I'm a new member who has long visited this site b/c its a great place to get campaign updates etc. I started tracking with Ron Paul politically in 08' when I saw him during the primary debates. As a political science major in college at the time, I found his sanity on the few subjects he was given an opportunity to speak on refreshing, because it tracked with things I was researching and learning at the time. Got addicted to his way of seeing things and the rest is history much like many of you.
As a new guy, I hope I don't get the "troll invasion" thing put on me, just hear me out.
A lot of the posters on this site say things that are inspiring yet half delusional at times when it comes to NOT what CAN be accomplished but HOW PROBABLE accomplishing that thing will be. Two things stand out to me at this point:
1) That Ron Paul can LIKELY steal the Republican nomination at this point, or even a month or so back. The numbers don't match up. The Paul delegates will play a VITAL role at the convention, but unless a large number of Romney/Newt/Santorum delegates decided to change their minds at the convention, it can't happen, plus there's the super delegate problem (they are almost all agreed to be committed to Romney long ago). Its not our fault, and we've come a long ways toward changing the political views in this country, and we got the momentum, there's just too many of the unconverted still out there.
2) This is less inspiring, but sometimes posters on this site reference a host of conspiracies (of which many I believe contain an ELEMENT of truth) that are counter productive towards what needs to be accomplished in converting the rest. Even worse some say things they don't really mean out of frustration (I'm guessing) about revolution the ol' fashioned way. NEVER GONNA HAPPEN. Don't get caught up in that kind of idle talk, before we see the Obama gov fly off the handle, launch a false flag incident, or just track you guys as if you were potential threats to peace and security. I dated an high ranking FBI agent's daughter for a while, and learned some things, trust me these fools do that kinda monitoring based on web traffic and nothing would give them an excuse to take our freedoms away quicker than someone saying bravado laden nonsense. Any form of violence ever attached to this movement would be its death.
Now that the campaign is where it is at this point, everyone here's acting all depressed b/c we didn't get everything we wanted. Ron Paul is obviously more level headed than some here. Contrary to forum beliefs, a bird in the hand IS worth two in the bush. The Paul supporters at this time have the Republican party in a sleeper hold. They can NOT beat Obama without your support. Many here won't give it, b/c they have been burned before. However, Mitt WILL and has presumably promised (to Rand, Ron? others) that they will incorporate Paul's positions into parts of the party platform. THIS IS HOW POLITICS WORKS!!! You can say "oh Mitt will just be talking lies he plans to not do those things in office." But to make it part of his platform, he will have to debate Obama over it and CLAIM to support those positions (like a FED audit) during the campaign, thus LEGITIMIZING those views to millions more Americans and dumbo regular republicans who watch Fox and Hannity etc.
The war of the minds will be won on the back of Mitt's greed for your vote!! Paul might be practically out of the nomination race, but trust me behind the scenes he and we are still changing everything! And despite all Mitt's pandering to you, you won't be obligated to vote for him. This is truly getting something for nothing. I'll leave it to you to decide if Romney is ANY better than more Obama (I think kinda since he's a sway-able x-factor, we know who Obama is).
Also through the changing republican landscape there will be more opportunities to get fresh blood Ron Paul-like republicans into office at all levels of state offices, and Congress. Notice how hard the campaign is focused on these types? They are massively important to future policy in this country. Ron Paul always had to go it alone in Congress, taking the prophetic soapbox stance. But 5-6 more guys like him on the Hill could have some real swaying power when it comes to forming policy if they work together with other members on other things. THIS IS HOW POLITICS WORKS.
Rand isn't a traitor per se. The revolution ain't dead. It's winning. Just PROBABLY not the president. But that isn't the only prize. If Ron Paul the politician screws over the party by running third party, it would give us someone good to vote for, but all the republicans on the fence will never forgive him and hate the Paul supporters in the party and think they aren't real republicans, and fight their influence at every level. If they get that we are somewhat close to being on the same team they will eventually be converted or be crushed under the movement in coming elections.
DON'T be mad that the campaign is busy securing the bird in the hand before they throw it all away for an inspiring shot at two in the bush, as much as that would excite, inspire, and entertain us.
