Gary Johnson or Mitt Romney?

Ron, I understand why you and Rand are doing this: to reform the GOP and give your son a place of power within it, but I fear the GOP is beyond hope as long as Southern Evangelicals dominate it.

For me the better message to send America is a rejection of the Duopoly. Let's get Gary Johnson to 15% in national polls in order to qualify him for the presidential debates. Down with Obamney! Go Gary Johnson!

State by state rules regarding 3rd Party and write-in campaigns

If you are going to write-in someone in November you should at least know the rules. This post explains the rules on a state by state basis:

http://www.dailypaul.com/242672/considerations-on-a-ron-paul...

This is an example of an application to be a write-in candidate. You will notice on this application that Ron Paul himself will have to sign this application or write-in votes in Connecticut will not be counted or reported. How many states have the same rules to have write-in votes counted and reported?:

Ron is not doing anything

Ron is not doing anything wrong. Was he the one that endorsed Romney? No. Stop trying to pit everyone against him.

He is working to get Rand to

He is working to get Rand to the Presidency via Republicanism. It's all about the Pauls.

The Daily Papaw

I'm writing in my papaw. Frack all of them.

I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: "O Lord make my enemies ridiculous." And God granted it.
Voltaire

I'm not ruling him out. But...

I will continue to support Ron.

Why this Gary Johnson Crap?

What about sticking to our guns?
What about writing Paul in?
What about the true meaning of Liberty?
What about keeping the focus? (a lot can change between now and August 27th)
What about our faith?

Let's keep the focus on the man that does not sway in the wind. If he is not our GOP nominee, then write him in! Come on people!

Let's Fight the Good Fight

That's the problem, you guys

That's the problem, you guys have become the Taliban of politics. It's your religion, your "faith".

Ron Paul failed. Time to pass the torch.

But if you want to waste your votes, go ahead. See what change you effect.

I think "failed" is waaaaaay

too strong. But your phrase "Taliban of politics" is a perfect fit.

h-daddy

Well, I mean failed to win

Well, I mean failed to win the primary. How much actual change he will accomplish remains to be seen, but I suspect there will be some, the most minimal Republicans think they must provide.

Neither.

One is a beltway "conservative", the other a beltway "libertarian". Johnson is better so far as libertarians are better than conservatives, but the establishment taint is on both of them.

Keimh3reg Peh2u Meg

Gary Johnson has never been

Gary Johnson has never been part of the establishment, not ever. He always played the outsider and was just proven to be one.

You are right...

...he's an innocent guy. Its the people who butter his bread I'm worried about. Beltway "libertarians" are all over Johnson. The ones not all over Romney, that is.

Keimh3reg Peh2u Meg

That's bullshit, the

That's bullshit, the establishment is OBVIOUSLY completely against Gary Johnson. What stupidity.

No disagreement there...

...they would much rather Romney or Obama got in. But Johnson's brand of libertarianism, perhaps you've heard of it, cosmotarianism, is really not all that radical, and frankly, on many levels does not seem libertarian at all. Humanitarian wars? Tax marijuana? Why bother? If you think the types of "libertarian" influences Gary has had aren't firmly entrenched in the establishment, in terms of the narrative it regurgitates, the people it kowtows to, and even some of the things it supports, you are not too familiar with the reason crowd, and a good half of the CATO crowd.

Keimh3reg Peh2u Meg

What part of Ron Paul or no one didn't you understand?

unity!

I don't understand the part

I don't understand the part where only one man in the world could possibly be qualified for a position that we need new people for every few years. It's kinda loony.

Ding, ding, ding!!!!

We have a winner.

You have cut to the core of the issue. Unfortunately, for the loonytunes, there can only be one Messiah.

It is because the system is designed to

make it nearly impossible for an honest statesman to succeed. Every lobbyist, entitlement special interest, crooked congressperson, crony financial Too Bigs, mainstream media etc. all are mobilized to stop anyone who could truly shake their fat livelihoods. That is why Ron Paul is such a hero. He's the only one who made it for forty years fighting for Liberty without compromise.

Hmmm

Do I remember Johnsons foreign policy correctly? Do you?

Gary Johnson Foreign Policy Statement from Website

This is the statement on Foreign Policy from Gary Johnson's website
www.garyjohnson2012.com

Foreign Policy

Maintaining a strong national defense is the most basic of the federal government’s responsibilities. However, building schools, roads, and hospitals in other countries are not among those basic obligations. Yet that is exactly what we have been doing for much of the past 10 years.

Given trillion-dollar deficits, America simply cannot afford to be engaged in foreign policy programs that are not clearly protecting U.S. interests. There is nation-building and rebuilding to be done right here at home.

Our military should remain the most potent force for good on Earth. To do this, we should resort to military action as the last option and only as provided in the Constitution.

Bring the Troops Home

AMERICAN MILITARY ACTIVITIES IN AFGHANISTAN SHOULD END, our troops returned home, and the focus of our foreign policy reoriented toward the protection of U.S. citizens and interests.

With Osama bin Laden now killed and after 10 years of fighting, U.S. forces should leave Afghanistan's challenges to the Afghan people.
Decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union, American troops remain scattered throughout Europe. It is time to reevaluate these deployments.

The U.S. must make better use of military alliances which allow greater sharing of the human and financial burdens at less cost of protecting national interests.

Lead By Example

AMERICA CAN ACHIEVE OUR FOREIGN POLICY GOALS without sacrificing American values.

No criminal or terrorist suspect captured by the U.S. should be subject to physical or psychological torture.

Individuals incarcerated unjustly by the U.S. should have the ability to seek compensation through the courts.

Individuals detained by the U.S., whether it be at Guantanamo Bay or elsewhere, must be given due process via the courts or military tribunals, and must not be held indefinitely without regard to those fundamental processes.

Watch and think about it. No way will I vote for Mitt Romney.

reedr3v's picture

Of course not. But have you considered

That's right, Mr Smith, if

That's right, Mr Smith, if your candidate hasn't read books by people you've never heard of, well, then he's just not a good candidate for the economic belief system you had no idea you had! Says the 17 people that know what Austrian School is.

I agree that common sense may be far more importan than reading

various books by "Austrian" economists BUT I bet Johnson, being a smart guy and a quick study, will be studying them soon.

h-daddy

ive thought about this a lot and ive come to the conclusion...

that i absolutely, positively, cannot vote for anyone who does not have a background in austrian economics. Romney certainly doesnt, and gary is a guy who talks a good game, but i think its just that; talk. i dont think he fully understands the 'why' of it.

the easiest way to get something done isnt to change the behavior; its to change the meaning of existing behavior. like a cut isnt a cut, torture isnt torture, its enhanced interrogation. war isnt war, its kinetic military action. declaring war now appare

Okay.

Go start the Austrian Party. Because having a limited, ideological, anarchist view of economics is the best way to run the government.

Mises was not an anarchist; he simply

pointed out that the free market best serves all people and is natural, spontaneous to all free people.

Perhaps, but

Many of his followers ARE anarchists and have taken his ideas to an extreme. The "voluntaryist" concept, for example.

And Ron Paul isn't a true Austrian school adherent, less so than Johnson, actually.
