Gary Johnson or Mitt Romney?

Ron, I understand why you and Rand are doing this: to reform the GOP and give your son a place of power within it, but I fear the GOP is beyond hope as long as Southern Evangelicals dominate it.

For me the better message to send America is a rejection of the Duopoly. Let's get Gary Johnson to 15% in national polls in order to qualify him for the presidential debates. Down with Obamney! Go Gary Johnson!

wow...

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

go back and rethink your example and this time try to understand that aggression is initiation of violence.

the easiest way to get something done isnt to change the behavior; its to change the meaning of existing behavior. like a cut isnt a cut, torture isnt torture, its enhanced interrogation. war isnt war, its kinetic military action. declaring war now appare

So intervening to stop

So intervening to stop aggression is not aggression, which was my whole point.

I accept your surrender.

no, you conflated initiation and defense. we were correcting you. you accept anything you want, its fun watching your logical fallacies flail all over this board.

Again, you're trying to have

Again, you're trying to have it both ways.

You can hire thugs and oursource your defense. But what about those that have no money to buy defense? Are they killed? Jailed? Or do you just steal their stuff?

And if the rest of the people form a government of their own volition to protect themselves from your thugs, how does that make it aggression?

no, YOU are trying to bait and switch what i believe

strawman, strawman, strawman.

you are arguing against yourself, you know this, right?

Ron Paul for President's picture

Oh, I thought Hayek, Rothbard, and Mises, were the good guys.

I did not realize they were anarchist economists. sarcasm off.

If you don't understand economics, how do you not repeat the same mistakes?

BTW Ron Paul knows economics. By his own words, he has studied those listed in the subject line.

Austrian school is a thin

Austrian school is a thin sliver of economics and it is the only one that denounces testing or verification of its theories. Because they are afraid to admit it's pure theory and doesn't address the real world.

Austrian economics are unworkable in the real world, just like Marxist communism failed to launch.

So you must be a keynesian. You are definitely on the wrong site. Seeing you have only been a member for maybe 2 hours....

Incorrect.

Because only the partially educated think econonics is limited to a specific school of thought.

think that they can frankenstein economic systems together into something better.

Only the uneducated....

can't see the validity and use of individual tools for individual purposes.

The problem with Austrian school is that it yields bad consequence when taken to its logical conclusion.

For instance, a lack of planned road systems. How are the highways in Somalia doing? Transportation infrastructure? Who puts out the fire of your home?

Keynesian economics, used sparingly, results in economically beneficial works that benefit private industry and individuals, by pooling investment money in large quanticies and creating a centrally planned use for it that, when actually used to financially beneficial use, benefits the economy and everyone within it.

so, YOUR logical conclusion

is that if GOVERNMENT didnt do it, NOBODY would? and since when is Somolia considered the bastion of Laissez-faire?

and who determines if that money gets spent towards better ends? obviously not the rightful OWNERS of it (so much for you protecting property, eh).

and just because SOME people benefit from government spending does not mean that it brought about a better economic outcome than if they would have actually let markets work. if it did, then why not take it all?

the easiest way to get something done isnt to change the behavior; its to change the meaning of existing behavior. like a cut isnt a cut, torture isnt torture, its enhanced interrogation. war isnt war, its kinetic military action. declaring war now appare

Somalia is pretty much the

Somalia is pretty much the only place where laissez-faire exists. And how is that going? Roving bands of warlords who basically do whatever they like while the rest of the population suffers. That is anarchy, not libertarianism. Libertarianism would aggressively defend against the warlords and eventually destroy them in order to protect lives and property.

In a normal society, we agree just by living there to contribute a little for the common good. The true goal of libertarianism isn't to eliminate that, but to limit it to the very minimum by applying the test of direct harm.

Again, government is NATURALLY created to do the things private industry can't or won't. While it would be ideal to have no government, it has never been workable, not even on the smallest scales. Even family units have governmental structure.

BS

it doesnt 'denounce' testing and verification. it is deductive. you cannot be deductive and ignore information, but, there are problems with the fundamentals of keynesian models. one major one is with the idea that capital is HOMOGENEOUS. it is not.

ive heard a lot about inductive vs deductive (or a priori), and how austrian econ is dogmatic, etc, but what people dont understand is that with 'inductive' reasoning, in order to apply your formulas, you first either 1) test your formula using DEDUCTIVE reasoning, or, as is the case most of the time, 2) dont think about it. someone 'smrtr' already figured it out.

i just want to get back to a point where we understand that ALL government spending has opportunity cost associated with it and necessarily brings about a lesser end. if we decide, at that point, that it is better for the government to run certain things DESPITE that fact, i can live with it. what i cant live with is someone trying to justify their little pet projects with the worn out 'save the economy' line

the easiest way to get something done isnt to change the behavior; its to change the meaning of existing behavior. like a cut isnt a cut, torture isnt torture, its enhanced interrogation. war isnt war, its kinetic military action. declaring war now appare

Denounce? Okay.

Then how about "rejects" testing and verification.

And it must, because pure Austrian theory is unfeasible because there are areas where private industry will simply not pick up the ball because it will not receive the coordination and multi-party coersion required to make a systemic benefit.

think about what you are saying:

that centralizing authority and resources are more desireable. in a lot of cases it flat out isnt. in either way, if the free market were allowed to operate, CONSUMERS would determine the approximate amount of centralization of resources. you have too much faith in 'systematic benefit' (and you think austrians are dogmatic?)

The difference between an

The difference between an anarchist, a libertarian and a totalitarian is that the anarchist believe there is no good use for government, a totalitarian believes government has all the power and the people none. And a libertarian knows how to limit government to only that which is absolutely necessary.

Anybody but Romney

Stay the course. We cannot afford to wait another 8 years for our next shot at a liberty candidate for President. Do not vote Romney- even if Rand is selected as Veep.

Gary Johnson follows most of the same beliefs as Ron. Anti War, Anti Drug War, Anti taxes, end the fed (and stop the printing presses, because the fed isnt the one who prints.) balanced budget. 42% decrease in spending.....come on guys, gary needs us just like ron paul needed us.
