Gary Johnson or Mitt Romney?
Submitted by Bolt612 on Fri, 06/08/2012 - 06:51Ron, I understand why you and Rand are doing this: to reform the GOP and give your son a place of power within it, but I fear the GOP is beyond hope as long as Southern Evangelicals dominate it.
For me the better message to send America is a rejection of the Duopoly. Let's get Gary Johnson to 15% in national polls in order to qualify him for the presidential debates. Down with Obamney! Go Gary Johnson!

Sadly no, they aren't on the
Sadly no, they aren't on the ballot here in Maine. We are peti
ttioning to make it so though. Good post though.
I'm not 'jumping ship' on
I'm not 'jumping ship' on Paul till after the convention in Tampa, when the 'fat lady has sung' so to speak. I have my own issues with Gary Johnson, although I would vote for him if Paul was not available in any form, it is farther down on my list.
What surprises me the most however, is that I'm seeing a 'double-standard' where people are accusing us of 'wasting our vote' on Paul instead of GJ. Isn't that the same as the Romney tactic of "Don't waste your vote on Paul"? I know some are legitimate, but I've seen some very hatefully worded 'guilt by association' rants because of Rand's announcement. I think many of us need to take a step back and think things through...
Personally, Rand's announcement hasn't changed a thing for me, I'm still watching THE MOVEMENT, not Rand, and am waiting with bated breath for the results of these upcoming conventions and the first ballot at Tampa. And on a personal note, Just like Rand is not like his father, Gary Johnson is not 'Ron Paul'. They are both liberty minded, but there are differences in approach, method, and even some issues, that I think people should inform themselves of. I implore anyone to research his positions, and make a choice yourself. If you wish to vote for Gary Johnson, that is your vote, and yours alone.
Without RP on the ballot
GJ is getting my vote, hands down. Unless RP makes an endorsement that changes my thinking.
With liberty and justice for all...who can afford it.
We are the grassroots
Why would we not, after the convention, do some hard work for Gary Johnson? Yes, he is not Ron Paul, but then again we will never have another Ron Paul. Compared to Obamney, Gary johnson is someone I would love to vote for. He stands for a lot of the same things as Ron. We should put our grassroots effort towards GJ and help him the 15 percent
more like
Gary Johnson or the GOP nominee Ron Paul. Ron Paul's goal was to infiltrate the GOP breaking its corruption down and spreading the message of liberty, although he's probably been more successful than expected and could actually win the nomination. Ron Paul doesn't care about "winning" or "losing" though. He cares about spreading the message of freedom. It is not about him. If Ron Paul doesn't end up winning the nomination he should fully endorse Gary Johnson and in effect successfully build a three party system which in the end could be the best result possible.
You're right.
It's not about Ron Paul. It's now about his son and furthering his career, not about the movement.

I am still Voting Ron Paul no matter what. Even If I have to write his name on a piece of paper and leave it in the voting booth. That is what I am doing.
Please delete my account Due to Mr.Nystom rewriting one of my post under my name.
I see no reason why you would even bother
write-in vote = not voting at all. but if it makes you feel better go for it.

Ron Does Not Even Want The Job
Gary Johnson way Over Mitt.
Mitt Romney or Gary Johnson? Silly question...
UM, the question should be:
"Write in Ron Paul or Vote for Gary Johnson???"
RON PAUL will tell you time and time again.... This is not about RON PAUL it is about:
1. POLITICAL POSITIONS & PRINCIPLES
2. INTEGRITY TO STAND BY YOUR POSITIONS & PRINCIPLES
BY ALL INDICATIONS, Gary Johnson shares the positions and principles that Ron Paul does.
MORE IMPORTANTLY, It does not take a giant leap of intuition to see that Gary Johnson (or even Dennis Kucinich or Ralph Nadar) have integrity. Rand, I am not so such about.....yet.
How could anyone vote for Romney that has visited this site? Obama and Romney are part of the same corrupt party.
Positions/principles/integrity have my vote.
Yes
We can still all write Ron in this November but we should at least help Johnson get the 15% required to be on the debate stage. He has been nothing but complimentary to the movement and has stated he would carry the message on in the general.

Only Ron Paul...simple. There is no other frontrunner anecdote to cure what ails this country.
A write-in for Ron Paul is a
A write-in for Ron Paul is a wasted vote in most states. Literally... they won't count the votes, even if he wins. There are hoops to jump through to become a valid write-in candidate, and I don't think RP will jump through them.
Dr. Ron Paul is winning.
I will either vote Romney/Paul or write in Dr. Ron Paul. There is no point voting for a third party. However if Gary Johnson wants to run for House or the Senate, I think he has a very good chance.

I had reservations about
I had reservations about posting this but might as well. If there are any members here from Maine, we are petitioning to get GJ on the ballot here. Before I get slammed for being a troll I have to say, I've been a member here for about 5 years and I was a delegate for Ron here in Maine. I've done what I can here. Now we are fighting for our party (LP) to get us recognition by the state. If there are any other Maineiacs that would like to assist go to lpme.org for info or message me.
Are you saying that you were
a delegate 4 years ago or that you are, right now, a delegate for Ron Paul but you WILL NOT be going to Tampa to vote for him????
Because if your answer is the latter, you should have NEVER been a delegate for him in the first place. I don't believe you were ever a true Ron Paul supporter.
You better inform the Ron Paul campaign in Maine so they can send a Ron Paul alternative in your place.

Can we please stop
Can we please stop criticizing people based on how much time they have been registered at the Daily Paul? I didn't register here until a month or so ago, but have been involved since 2007. I have donated over 30% of my disposable income to this cause, and I am sure there are other people out there like me. It's immature to insult people based on how long they have been registered at this website when you don't know anything about them to begin with.
See, you ask a question and
See, you ask a question and then attack me in the same breath. You are part of our problem. Get this straight. I've supported Ron Paul since 2007. I was a county delegate here and cast my vote for delegates to go to Tampa. So I should have been and was a delegate. If you don't think I was ever a Ron Paul supporter check my fucking r3volution tattoo and ask me why I got out of the military in 2010 and convinced a few other soldiers to leave with me. You don't know a thing about me or the efforts I've put in for this movement. You shouldn't speak of things you know nothing about. Check my credentials and then talk shit. I'm fighting for the cause of liberty. And after your remarks, you sure as shit BETTER be going to Tampa. People like you are a big problem in this movement. Criticize people within the movement when you don't fully understand what you're talking about. When you ask a question, wait for the answer before making an assumption. Otherwise you risk looking stupid.
Well
after is it confirmed that Ron Paul can't get the nomination than go to Gary Johnson because apparently you cannot write in in some states.
And this is why you will never win
And this is why you will never win ANY election, now or in the future.
Ron Paul still has a shot and can win. The easy thing for you to do is to jump ship and go with an opponent because of ratings. When that candidate shows no indication of winning, you will simply move on to another, each time settling for less.
We can still win this if you open your eyes and educate yourselves. It is clear as day. The GOP knows this and that is why they are nervous.
Otherwise, leave, and we will grow the r3VOLution with others more serious about this movement.

Lets end the delusions ok?
It is done and over. The only thing to be gained now is influence over the platform, committees and state and local GOPs.
Dedication is one thing, zealotry another.
As the guy from Maine has said, its time to make what efforts we can to get a candidate who will be campaigning in he fall high enough in the polls to be included in the debates. Johnson is a very long shot to win too but he will make a mockery out of Obama and Romney if he is ever on the stage with them.

This is not always the case.
This is not always the case. If you live in a state that doesn't allow write ins or you live in a state that's already had it's primary or caucus, all you're doing is talking after that point. Might as well do something that could make a difference instead of sitting on a computer belittling others or telling people how they aren't dedicated to the cause. I felt a bit guilty and even thought about not petitioning for GJ here but then I figured, there's nothing more that I can do for Ron, so now it's time to do for LIBERTY. Ron himself knows and has said, it's not about him, it's about the movement. Helping to get our party on the ballot is a huge step for liberty. We've also managed to get a Libertarian running for Senate on the ticket here. It's not about a man, it's about a message. Just because we move to help others doesn't mean we aren't dedicated to the movement. And if you weren't AT LEAST a delegate, stfu about not being serious. There are so many blowhards that will talk all this nonsense and the most that they've done is put out a yard sign. Put in work, physical work, time and effort, then point fingers and talk trash. We're all working for a common cause, a common goal. Whether or not we do it the same way matters little when the caucus' are over, especially if you can't be a state delegate. Keep fighting people, regardless of what others say of your efforts.

As we pleaded for the longest time what was done? He put it on his facebook page to boot complete with the word racist that was a hyperlink to this "newsletter expose" on Ron Paul. http://www.tnr.com/article/politics/angry-white-man
How soon you people forget.
And that was after Ron Paul endorsed Gary in 2011 before Ron entered the race. Gary has never apologized for this to my knowledge and I think it really hurt Ron that he would stoop that low to try to make himself appear a better candidate than Ron and providing links to the famed "racist newsletters" on his campaign website.
And that I surmise is why Jesse Benton stated unequivocally a couple weeks ago that Ron will not endorse him.

November 6th 2012 I voted for Dr.Ron Paul

I don't see a dime's worth of difference
between Gary Johnson and Mitt Romney.
They are both war-mongering, statist, income tax loving, Federal Reserve keeping, neocons.
Gary Johnson does NOT carry the banner of freedom, and I would NEVER give him my vote.
