Rand Paul Betrays His Father’s Principles, Endorses Mitt Romney

Why Ron Paul Supporters Need the Libertarian Party

When Dr. Rand Paul ran for U.S. Senate in Kentucky, many of his fund-raising appeals were sent to the donors and supporters of his father, Congressman Ron Paul. They were designed to convince Ron’s supporters that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. That Rand was, like his legendary father, a steadfast champion of liberty.

But no true libertarian, no true friend of liberty, and no true blue Tea Partier could possibly even consider, much less actually endorse or approve of, the Father of Obamacare, Big Government tax and spender, Republican Mitt Romney.

Especially the son of Ron Paul, who has no excuse.

Especially a medical doctor, who has even fewer excuses.

Earlier this year, Rand Paul showed his willingness to sell out his supporters when he called higher federal government spending a “spending cut” – Orwellian language used routinely by Big Government Democratic and Republican politicians.

Sorry, Senator Paul. An increase is an increase, whether it’s a big increase or a really, really big increase in federal government spending.

Rand Paul had a list of excuses for his endorsement of Mitt Romney for president. For example, he claims that Romney will support auditing the Federal Reserve, oppose SOPA legislation which impairs Internet freedom, allow construction of the Keystone Pipeline, and support the REINS Act which would require Congress to vote on major new regulations.

But as Sherlock Holmes would note, it’s the dog that didn't bark that proves Rand Paul made a devil’s deal with Big Government Mitt Romney.

It’s what Rand Paul did not say that Mitt Romney will support that tells us what we really need to know.

He did NOT say that Mitt Romney would cut federal spending.

He did NOT say that Mitt Romney would never raise taxes.

He did NOT say that Mitt Romney would end Obamacare.

He did NOT say that Mitt Romney would bring the troops home from Afghanistan like Rand’s father has promised to do again and again.

Because a President Mitt Romney would NOT do those things.

Which is why Republican Mitt Romney is unfit to be president.

Vote Libertarian – the only political party that embraces the same core value as Dr. Ron Paul: Liberty!

As to betraying principles the LP has form on that one.

Point of fact: On Obamacare...Rand did say that Romney would give a waiver to all 50 States to go their own way. That is as good as a repeal and may be more doable.

It remains to be seen if Romney keeps his word IF he is elected. Two very fragile possibilities.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

For those who are against

For those who are against Rand please argue using his voting record. Sure he plays the politics game, which we don't like. He says things we don't like sometimes. BUT, when it comes down to it, his record is downright amazing.

1. Rand Paul Is Single-Handedly Trying To Prevent War With Iran

2. Rand Paul Single-Handedly Halts a Potential Future Military Confrontation with Russia

3. "Last night, Senator Rand Paul prevented the passage of an amendment that would have further eroded Americans' constitutional rights. The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal 2012 (S.1867), amendment No. 1274 would have allowed the U.S. government to detain an American citizen indefinitely,"

4. Sen. Rand Paul on Why He's Single-Handedly Blocking Pipeline Safety Legislation
"I believe legislation should have open debate and votes. It need not take weeks. Certainly we could spend an afternoon for the people’s elected representatives to discuss whether they got massive new regulations right. In the case of the pipeline bill, absolutely nothing in the current bill would have prevented the recent pipeline problems, or would have prevented the tragedy in San Bruno last year. The bill puts in place new mandates; it hires new bureaucrats. But it doesn’t properly diagnose the problem, and it grandfathers in the very pipelines that have had recent problems. It makes no sense. As a doctor, I find it offensive to rush through treatment when you haven’t diagnosed the problem properly."

5. Can Rand Paul single-handedly cause the Patriot Act to lapse?

6. Rand Paul Blocks Synthetic Drug Bans

7. "Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul was the sole "no" vote Thursday night on a measure that would make it a federal crime to aim a handheld laser pointer at an aircraft.
Paul told reporters after Thursday's vote that he believed the laser-pointer issue was one best handled by the states, not the federal government."

8. Senator Rand Paul Promises to Filibuster SOPA/PIPA

9. Sen. Rand Paul filibusters in effort to end aid to Egypt

10. Rand Paul Plans Senate Filibuster Over Debt Ceiling

11. Rand Paul Throws Judicial Filibuster Tantrum Over Foreign Policy Disagreement

12. Rand Paul opposes Libya actions
"I tell people I won't vote to go to war unless I'm ready to go or send my kids."..."

13. Sen. Rand Paul opposes No Child Left Behind renewal

14. Rand Paul opposes re-appointment of Bernanke

15. Rand Paul Opposes Paul Ryan's Budget Plan
"Senator Rand Paul opposes Paul Ryan's budget plan for the same reason I have pointed out many times. Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.) became ‘no’ vote number three, arguing that Ryan’s plan “doesn’t go far enough” to address the country’s debt crisis."

16. Sen. Rand Paul testifies against U.S. enforcement of foreign laws http://www.louisville.com/content/sen-rand-paul-testifies-ag...

17. "Today I will vote against the President's nominees to the Federal Reserve Board. I will also be pushing for a Senate vote on the Audit the Fed Bill in the near future."

This needs to be its own post.

Please consider starting a new thread....we need something to balance all the anti-Rand trolley and divisiveness around here.

I just love how cannibalistic some of us Libertarians' become...

Rand has always been a friend to us, and hopefully always will be. He is representing a Republican state continguency in the US senate, calm down you strung out whackos. Rand didnt look happy to endorse Romney, either. And he was with us the entire delegate battle, even though it was unpopular with his Republican collegues. And how do we thank him? By stabbing him in the back and deeming him a "traitor" among other nonsensical adjectives.

I posted this and I agree

I posted this and I agree with you. If Rand Paul is the nominee in 2016, I would most likely vote for him. I just don't like Mitt Romney or the Republican party.

mind if i check out the votes and downvotes?

Rand is not Ron

I knew Rand Paul is not Ron Paul. I donated money when he was running for Senate. And then I watched an interview where he said that marriage should only between man and woman (I'm paraphrasing here). That's when I stopped donating money to Rand and I saw him more of a conservative than a libertarian. I'd rather give donation to Campaign for Liberty.

I'd rather stick my nostrils together with Krazy Glue

than to support Ron's Judas son or John Tate's bogus project.

Sen. Paul

While I am not at all happy to hear the Senator from KY endorse Mitt Romney, I can't help but think there is a bigger agenda here.

In defense of Senator Paul I want to ask the following questions.

Which US Senator wants to end the TSA?
Which US Senator voted against the NDAA?
Which US Senator wants to strip the FDA of guns?
Which US Senator wants to audit the FED?
Which US Senator wants to stop foreign aid?
Which US Senator wants to legalize hemp?
Which US Senator believes the Congress should declare war?
Which US Senator is the son of Ron Paul?

It is easy to support things when you know they...

are going to LOSE.

Judas goat
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Judas goat is a trained goat used at a slaughterhouse and in general animal herding. The Judas goat is trained to associate with sheep or cattle, leading them to a specific destination. In stockyards, a Judas goat will lead sheep to slaughter, while its own life is spared. Judas goats are also used to lead other animals to specific pens and onto trucks. They have fallen out of use in recent times, but can still be found in various smaller slaughterhouses in some parts of the world.

Or so he says

Or so he says. But he does not have an extensive record showing these things, and with this latest endorsement it is at the very least a big step in the opposite direction.

Actually he does. Look at up

Actually he does. Look at up his voting record.

Agreed. Rand Paul has been a

Agreed. Rand Paul has been a great fighter for the cause of liberty over the last few years. His voting record is impressive, many times he voted alone or even filibustered to try to stop things. He plays the politics game which I don't like, but I get.

If Ron Paul

is not on the ballot come November, I will be voting for Gary Johnson, if I vote at all!

I for one am sick of the Republicrats that have monoplolized and hijacked our country's political system.

As far as Rand goes, he'd better have something up his sleeve other than a $100 bill.....

What part of Ron Paul or no one

Didnt you understand? All the way to Tampa!

Libertarian party or Ron?

Feeling all the depressed the way I've been lately I've actually tried to research Gary Johnson a bit.. Truth is he doesn't really sound like he knows what he is talking about. He definitely seems to believe in the ideals of Libertarianism but man does he sound clueless about economics sometimes. Listen, in this moment of weakness I think it's ok to feel discouraged and to try and find relief in another outlet. Once I reflected a bit though, I realized that I was never in this to change the world overnight. It's the big picture that counts. I made a promise that I would vote for Ron Paul this year and if I can't keep this promise to myself what good was this whole thing anyway? Lets do what we can this year and move forward. Unlike in the movies, the world isn't going away after 2012 and we will have plenty of fighting left to do!

Romney still does not have the delegates!

WE ARE GOING TO TAMPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RON PAUL ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can we cut the "Libertarian party" propaganda please

You're entitled to read and say what you want, but this website is dedicated to my hero, Dr. Ron Paul. RP does not label himself a "Libertarian" nor has he had any connection to that party since 1988, making the Libertarian party and their press releases about as irrelevant as the Whig and Green parties.

Besides this press release is 110% self-interested. I'm getting really sick and tired of Gary Johnson and his little gang thinking they can sneak in after Ron Paul did all this work and grew his supporters to steal his votes. It's disrespectful and extremely transparent. I'm not voting for Gary Johnson, I will be voting for Ron Paul. You guys can give in to some chump who claims he's the next RP in order to get over his stated goal of 5% in the general, i'm going to stick to the Paul family and take a pass on falling for the Libertarian party's propaganda.

The Libertarian Party back stabbed Ron in the

last election too. In this election they should have held off running a candidate against Paul, IMO. Now this eager attempt to use the discontent to their Libertarian-Light benefit.

has done all the stabbing from what I can see!

How is running a candidate in

How is running a candidate in their own party "backstabbing?" Do you even know what that word means?

reedr3v's picture

Perhaps you weren't around. First they ran

a NON-libertarian. Then when Ron put together a coalition with the Green Party, Nader, Chuck Baldwin's party, and supposedly the LP, with principles agreed on including anti war and anti Fed -- Barr at the last instant reneged and didn't show up at the announcement. He totally sold out the anti-Establishment coalition Ron spearheaded.

What a d***

Sorry, I won't be visiting the DailyJohnson anytime soon, or voting for him
