Undeclared and Independent are two different things
This is a bit confusing, so please take your time trying to follow:
We have this same situation in West Virginia where voters who register as "Non Partisan / No Party Affiliation" (NP) are referred to as independents. This was a change about six years ago where the word "independent" was on the voter registration form, but since there are organized political parties in the U.S. that use the word "Independent" in their name, this change was made.
Also, a WV voter can check the "Other Party" box on the form and write the word "Independent" on the line which would register them as affiliated with some Independent party. However, people do this thinking that by writing in this word, that this will get them into the open Republcan, and now Democrat primaries. WRONG, since "Other-Libertarian", and "Other-Constitution", and "Other-Green" are technically the same as "Other-Independent" = "Other" category voter registrations in WV.
There are basically three reasons why people register as "NP":
1) They are first time registrants uninformed about politics and unsure if they agree more with Democrats or Republicans. THIS IS A HUGE OPPORTUNITY for Ron Paul people to perform some basic civics education (removed from public schools).
2) Personal privacy - since voter registration info are public records, a lot of government employees are afraid of declaring their political leanings.
3) Political Strategy - since an NP voter can vote in either the Republican or Democrat primary in WV (people registered D, or R are stuck), there is obvious political flexibility with an NP registration. Additionally, NP voters are likely to get less phone calls and mail from candidates, this saving their candidate money.
CONCLUSION: As the Nolan article said, voter demographics are cofusing in MANY states: "The demographics of New Hampshire are confusing to many political analysts because of the high number of "undeclared" voters, often incorrectly dubbed "independents". New Hampshire voters in 2000 helped McCain wallop George W. Bush with a 19 point spread victory. Undeclared and Independent are two different things."
If you are not OUTRAGED, you're not paying attention!
BUMP -- Great Article (Very Encouraging)
Vote RON PAUL 2008
Vote RON PAUL 2008
McCain fraud exposed..again..

randy n.
Thank you!!!!
Thanks for posting that great article, it was just the pick-me-up I've been looking for.
Exciting
Wow this is an outstanding article! Very motivating when put into perspective.
I would also like to add another point. Every day the stock market and economy move downward and the dollar continues to collapse and this makes Paul's message even more interesting to people. If things get as bad this year as many experts are predicting then i think a lot of people will start waking up to Ron Pauls message about the economy since the other candidates don't even have a clue. Collapsing economy=Ron Paul presidency
Very Good article
I like reading Nolan Chart. They put things in pespective (sometimes).
I have been trying to tell people some of this too. Don't focus on which place we are in. We have beaten two "top tier" candidates. And we are nipping right behind the heels of those just ahead of us.
How many football, baseball games, etc. have we left early or switched channels because there was "no way" the other team could win the game. Then we find out later, "Wow! did you see that game? It was amazing, they came back and...". You know the story.
We are in a 50 inning ball game. We've only played 2 innings and we have scored well in both!
Wow, great article. I don't
Wow, great article. I don't think Huckabee can be counted out quite yet though.
We still have a chance, don't give up people. Even if RP does not end up winning, its still important to spread his message that is so popular and is catching on. Thousands of Ron Pauls could be born out of this movement that begun with the Ron Paul rEVOLution. Imagine what kind of effect that would have on our country in the future?
This is a MUST for everyone
This is a MUST for everyone depressed about our "poor" showing in IA and NH. It should be on the RP official main page.
Thanks
Very upbeat article...Try this link to it
if you couldn't get to the article before:

I hope so...
but I doubt it.
We will have to wait until Super Tuesday and see what happens. Once the BIG URBAN populations centers vote, then we will have a better idea of what the future holds for Rudy and Mitt.

Great! Very positive! That's the spirit!
As for you SeanW, why don't you go take a nap. Your negative attitude is a real bummer.
Good article.
Thanks for posting.
Great Article!
We are winning this battle. Let's keep working hard for Dr. Paul.

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐
Taking Rons Positions
And when they change their position to attempt to steal Dr. Paul's supporters we will accuse them of Flip-Flopin. And we all know how Amercans love that.
Thanks a bunch for the info. Uplifting news.
Now let's get our chins off the ground and get back to work. Thanks again NH volunteers for the great work. We love you!

Very frustrating! Can someone help?
I am still getting a "page can not be displayed" message after waiting for a long while for the page to load. I really wish people would not post these links.
Here, I just copied it…
What New Hampshire Results Mean for Ron Paul
An analysis of the McCain victory in New Hampshire and what the results mean for the candidacy of Dr. Ron Paul.by Jake Morphonios (Libertarian)
In the 2000 presidential election cycle I worked for Steve Forbes as the regional campaign manager for North Carolina. I escorted Mr. Forbes to the South Carolina Republican Debate and had the opportunity to meet John McCain outside in a secure area as he was being interviewed on his Straight Talk Express campaign bus. I paid close attention to McCain throughout the election both before and after Mr. Forbes dropped out of the contest. I culled a few facts from that time period that are still relevant today.
McCain is a short man, 5’ 7" to be exact. Okay. That’s not important. However, the fact that McCain gets easily peeved is important. Once McCain takes a stance, even when he knows he is wrong, his ego will not allow him to back down when challenged. I observed this in a Larry King Live interview between McCain, Bush and Keyes. McCain was taken to task for a series of negative attack ads and became quite terse in defense of his actions. This projection of ego didn’t go unnoticed by voters. Presently, McCain is in a position of having taken some very unpopular positions on subjects such as campaign finance reform and immigration. When challenged on these issued McCain, predictably, will return to sanctimonious posturing and sink his campaign once again.
It should be remembered that as of a month ago, popular wisdom said that the McCain run was over. His campaign structure saw a rash of firings and resignations. He is essentially broke. While McCain is out there today trumpeting himself as the new "comeback kid", he knows that this isn’t true. McCain knew that he would carry New Hampshire without having to do much to secure the victory. The demographics of New Hampshire are confusing to many political analysts because of the high number of "undeclared" voters, often incorrectly dubbed "independents". New Hampshire voters in 2000 helped McCain wallop George W. Bush with a 19 point spread victory. Undeclared and Independent are two different things. New Hampshire typically votes just like any other state. In 2000 they voted for McCain because of his strong military credentials. In 2008, exit polls again demonstrate that nearly 50% of McCain voters chose him specifically because of his firm pro-war stance. A McCain victory in New Hampshire was a foregone conclusion. Ron Paul supporters were incorrect in their estimation that New Hampshire was inordinately favorable for a Ron Paul surprise.
Yet, the idea that "Mac is back" is a false hope for McCain supporters. McCain does not enjoy wide popularity in most other states. He will fare well, perhaps even winning Michigan and South Carolina. But Mitt Romney remains the man to beat. McCain’s funding is essentially spent and will not likely continue well past Super Tuesday. The only variable that may alter this eventuality is the media. Should the media turn McCain into their new star and keep him in the spotlight to the exclusion of most other candidates between now and Super Tuesday, McCain may be able to keep his campaign alive.
Enter Ron Paul.
With the victory of McCain nearly guaranteed, we need to analyze the remaining race statistics. Ron Paul spanked Fred Thompson, placing well ahead of Thompson who placed third in Iowa. Next, Paul placed less than 1 per percentage point away from Rudy Guiliani. Rudolph’s camp knew he couldn’t win, so they used the effective strategy of downplaying his loss by claiming that the candidate didn’t make any real effort in New Hampshire. The media, however, today exposed some interesting facts about Guiliani’s efforts in New Hampshire. Guiliani not only made more campaign appearances in New Hampshire than any other candidate but he spent more money in the state than all over candidates except for Mitt Romney. That Ron Paul virtually tied Guiliani is an incredible political feat and the Paulites of New Hampshire should be wildly applauded. Had it not been for Paul activists, the candidate would have finished around Hunter’s 1%.
Ron Paul trailed the third place winner, Mike Huckabee, by only 3 percentage points! That is extremely significant. Paul is not out of the race. Focusing on "5th place" finishes only brings people down. This strategist chooses not to emphasize which spot Ron Paul is finishing in, but instead focuses on how well he is doing in the race compared to other candidates. Dr. Paul and his supporters are making history. He has staying power. Ron Paul’s message of personal liberty and constitutional government is taking hold. Now is not the time to shrink from the battle. This is a time of celebration over our incredible success. We are truly changing the political debate. Ron Paul’s ideas are now being "stolen" by other candidates. That is not a bad thing. When other candidates are compelled to change their positions to Ron Paul’s it means that we are having great success.
Our campaign is very much alive and energized. We are accomplishing our goals. More fighting is needed. Let us roll up our sleeves and get back to work for our families, for our nation and for our champion of freedom, Ron Paul.
“Just look at us. Everything is backwards; everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the major media destroy information and religions destroy spirituality”
See, now this is what I needed to hear.
Somebody who knows what they're talking about, and who isn't freaking out with frustration about this primary. This makes sense. I'm glad to hear something optimistic about the campaign these days.
Bump
A Great Read Indeed...This article nails it!!! Keep your chins up everybody and keep fighting.
Love Has No Opposite!
Love Has No Opposite!
Good news. Time to refine our strategy
Here's the plan - ignore Huckabee, target Romney. Ron Paul must call him out; we cannot just repeat the same thing we said in all the other debates. Engage Mitt - he has no game against Ron.
Also, on TV ads, stop with the "he served his country" and "4000 babies". We've heard it. WE NEED TO GO DARK. The stock market crash and gold rocketing up is happening simultaneously for the first time in 28 years. Ron Paul Campaign, we must take advantage. Point out why. Challenge Romney why he says nothing about the gold standard.
If Ron Paul
were to direct an "Economic/Monetary Inflation" comment to any of the other candidates during a debate, they would, first of all, start stuttering as they tried to figure out WHAT he said because he talks over their heads; and, would probably attempt to change the subject because that's what politicians do when they don't know the answer. If Ron Paul were to pursue his question, they would probably stand their with their jaws agape shaking their head as they tried to compose an answer, realizing that whatever they say they are going to sound like an idiot compared to Dr. Paul's commanding grasp of the subject.
First one

What exactly am I looking for?
That page is filled with stuff and I have no idea what you're trying to link to for us to read?
story line
What New Hampshire Results Mean for Ron Paul
try that one
Thanks anyway, but the page does not open for me.
I found the title on that page, but when I click on it, I get all kinds of errors and it won't open. I have tried several times.
Great News!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been trying to say this since Iowa, This is different kind of GOP Primary this year. Normally the GOP pick the one who has been there the longest, this year its McCain whos not liked at all by a vast many conservatives. So far the one spending the most money is Romney, GOP version of Kerry (flip-flop) 2004, & a preacher who can't win outside of Iowa, oh heck you guys know the story. Anyway this is going to be a battle of financial ATTRITION. We know we can outraise all of the other candidates, as they start to drop out it will be down to Ron and maybe two other candidates at best. Stay upbeat and positive this one is far from over!!!!!!!!!
Your absolutely correct!
Your absolutely correct! Plus it is helpful to view this all as a game of time and attrition via subject matter as well. What we're seeing is a very well orchestrated Circus Maximus designed to keep our attention off of the real problem which is the coming financial meltdown. The Neo-Con's are battling for their very lives. Their trying to hold the economy together long enough to get one of theirs in power so that they can continue their agenda after the coming big crash. The problem is that their puppets don't have any REAL answers on how to solve the financial issues because none of them are willing to expose the REAL cause, The Federal Reserve and the Banksters. When the walls are crumbling later this year this is going to become obvious and that's when Ron Paul's message will stand tall. He's the only candidate who is willing to state where the problem lays and what must be done to resolve it, dump the Federal Reserve and return to the gold standard.
Sure
was a nice find I was pretty much down till i found this.
