I am Ron Paul!Submitted by hector1986 on Mon, 06/11/2012 - 21:40
It all started on a sunny spring day at a State Park in Colorado. I was about to start fishing with my brother, an Iraqi War Veteran, and my dog, a mutt we rescued from a shelter a few months earlier. Then a Park Ranger appeared out of nowhere to slap a fine on us for having our dog off-leash. There were no signs posted, no verbal warnings and absolutely no onearound to be bothered by my dog. We were being fined simply to raise funds for the park.
I was so infuriated. I was ashamed of the country that I am so proud to call home. We were fined for simply being American. The first thing I did when I got home was join the Tea Party. They began sending emails about the Republican Presidential Debate. The first was a Fox News moderated debate in July. Among all nine politicians on stage that night, one man stood out. He spoke with no talking points or personal attacks. He spoke only his mind. Not only was this man sincere, he made sense too! He decisively won the debate even though he was only given a few minutes to speak.
I was dumbfounded when Fox News did not even mention his name in their coverage after the debate. I began researching this man. The more I learned about this man, the more I became addicted. I learned more about American history in a few months than I did in school (public school of course!). I began talking with my friends and family about rights, amendments, executive orders. I began talking about liberty.
My adaptation was not just mental or philosophical. I was also undergoing a physical change. I quit smoking cigarettes and began eating healthful foods. I had much more energy to do the things that I loved. More bike rides, more fishing, more hiking. For the first time in my life, I am no longer over-weight. Thats really saying something for someone who was captain for his Division I soccer team.
You see to me, Ron Paul already is President. We all just have to start acting like it.
