North Dakota Votes to Restore Natural and Constitutional Right to Property

Measure 2 highlights the importance of property rights and the hypocrisy of a property tax. Who really holds ownership of land and estate if it is specifically taxed for its nature without appeal or contract? What is the benefit of owning property, if in addition to paying for ownership of the property, a large tax is levied that discourages property ownership, discourages savings, and hinders the quality of life for every hard working citizen?

Ummm...the vote outcome was

Ummm...the vote outcome was to KEEP the tax...you do realize this, right? And the measure to get rid of the tax was SOUNDLY defeated.

Property Tax Unfair

There are a lot of scenarios that make property tax unfair. Picture an elderly lady on a fixed income living alone in the family home with 4 bedrooms paying more property tax than a 2 income family in a one bedroom home. What additional burden does adding an extra bathroom in ones own home place on governmental services that justifies them to demand higher tribute? Why does a simple facelift on an older home cause government to feel they're entitled to a greater portion of an individuals income? Simply paint or reside your home and the tax goes up. It's ridiculous that the people continue down this path of feudalism that the colonists once freed themselves of.

I hope that the people in North Dakota vote for this, as this will be another great battle for Liberty.

Educate and inform the whole mass of the people... They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our Liberty. -Thomas Jefferson

Why was this intentionally

Why was this intentionally worded in such a way as to mislead readers into thinking the vote already happened and the tax was eliminated when the article is just about an UPCOMING vote.

Especially considering the polls show that it will likely NOT pass by a staggering 3 to 1 margin. (And in that poll, the group most likely to reject it at 79% were Independents.)

3 to 1???

why would anybody vote to continue to be taxed? i mean I am so pissed off every time I have to pay, that I can't believe anybody will cut the check happily and smiling... sickening

IT is obvious why it lost by

IT is obvious why it lost by an even greater than 3 to 1 margin. To anyone with a brain anyway.

The government wasn't going to jut give up on that money. You would have to be a COMPLETE idiot to not see that. With the property tax, the citizens know what to expect. If they got rid of the property tax, the new ways of taking money from them would be unknown.

People fear the unknown more than the known. Especially for something like this since once they start adding new revenue streams, it would likely end up taking MORE money from people.

This is fantastic!

In PA the school districts loot us with impunity. Go N. Dakota!
