◈ Concentrate People! Forget Rand And Focus On The Montana, Iowa & Virginia State Conventions This Weekend

Please, everyone, shut up about Rand. Whether your focus is about Ron getting the nomination or having the numbers to change the platform or something else at the convention, WE NEED DELEGATES TO DO THAT!

My state had a primary so I don't have much to suggest about caucus state conventions. Other than SHOW UP!! Only 5 Ron Paul people in my county showed up to my state convention and we had contact info of over 10 Paul supporters. That can't happen to you guys.

Email everyone you have contact info for and remind them to show. Call everyone you have phone numbers for and remind them to show. Email and call everyone you have email addresses and phone numbers for and offer them a ride to go!!!

These last few days we need to blitz everyone. NO excuses.

On a side note, I found it was very useful at the IL convention to have as many delegate's phone numbers stored into one person's iphone so mass text messages could be sent to inform all Paul supporters of important info like when to say Yay or Nay.

The MONTANA GOP has put out a tentative schedule for the State Convention:

http://mtgop.org/images/convo2012/public%20agenda%20-%20rev%...

Per this schedule, the Montana State Convention actually begins Thursday with registration at Noon. There will then be Platform committee meetings all afternoon.

Registration resumes Friday morning for the "Delegate" and "Platform" Conventions, and ends at 10:00am. Therefore, if our delegates are not present and registered by Friday at 10:00am, they will not be able to participate in selecting the Tampa delegates, or in adopting the platform!

Delegate selection will take place Friday afternoon, and the Platform will be dealt with Saturday morning. The only thing on the schedule for Saturday afternoon is a "Young Republican Meeting." The Convention is set to end Saturday at 5:00pm.

Liberty delegates, please show up early Friday morning at the latest! If you arrive after that, you will miss the most important parts of the process! Thank you!

IOWA:
"Saturday, June 16, 2012 - Hy-Vee Hall, Hall C - 730 3rd St, Des Moines IA: The Iowa State Republican Convention officially convenes. 25 of 28 National Convention delegates are selected.

The delegates to the Iowa State Republican Convention gather: at this time, the delegates to the State Convention from each county making up a given congressional district meet in separate Congressional District Caucuses to choose the state's district delegates to the Republican National Convention.

Each of Iowa's 4 congressional districts are assigned 3 National Convention delegates. Thus, a total of 12 district delegates will be chosen by these Congressional District Caucuses. These 12 delegates to the Republican National Convention will be allocated to the presidential contenders in such a way as determined by each Congressional District Caucus.

The State Convention chooses the remaining 13 at-large of Iowa's delegates (10 base at-large delegates plus 3 bonus delegates) to the Republican National Convention.

There is no formal system of allocating these 13 at-large National Convention delegates to presidential contenders. These delegates will be allocated according to the vote of the Iowa State Convention as a whole.

In addition, 3 party leaders, the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the Iowa's Republican Party, will attend the convention as unpledged delegates by virtue of their position."

Among other things, there is a schedule of events, and something jumps out at me: The CD breakout sessions, where the 12 CD Tampa delegates will be chosen, will take place on Friday evening, with registration starting at 6:00pm. Liberty delegates, if you don't show up until Saturday, you will have missed out on selecting nearly half of the Tampa delegates! If at all feasible, get there Friday night!

The Saturday schedule opens with registration starting at 7:45am, with the Call to order set for 9:30am. The schedule calls for electing the At Large Tampa delegates in the morning, with the afternoon focusing on the Platform and on Congressional candidates.

The Convention will be held at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines (the guide has directions for how to get there).

We are counting on you, Iowa Liberty delegates! Please show up and, if possible, show up on Friday! Thank you!

VIRGINIA:

Saturday 16 June 2012: The State Convention convenes in Richmond.

13 At-Large National Convention Delegates (all of whom are bound according to the results of the Virginia Republican Primary) are elected at the State Convention.

All Congressional and At-Large National Convention delegates to are bound for the first ballot at the Republican National Convention unless he/she has publicly withdrawn or has released his/her delegates.

The State Convention chooses 3 party leader delegates (a State Party Chairman is elected; and a National Committeeman and a National Committeewoman are nominated) all of whom will attend the convention as unpledged delegates by virtue of their position."

Unlike most other states, it will be the newly chosen Chairman, Committeeman, and Committeewoman who will fill the 3 "bigwig" delegate slots. We therefore have a chance to pick up these bigwig delegates if we can secure the majority at the Convention and put our people into these positions.

Is there any incentive to

Is there any incentive to show up as a guest? And even if not is this open to the general public just to observe?

well I know that you need to

well I know that you need to be already named as a delegate or alternate to be able to vote, but if you can find someone who has been named as a delegate, I'm sure they need people to make calls and write emails reminding them to come and seeing if they need a ride there.

if you're able to get just

if you're able to get just one Paul delegate or alternate to show at the convention, then it's like the same as voting.

Yep, and

the Friday conventions will likely be smaller, so we may have a better chance then. Show up!! Most important thing.

do you know if anyone has a

do you know if anyone has a contact list of Paul delegates and is asking if anyone needs help getting to the convention (let alone reminding them to go)?

I've heard they're being contacted.

But I don't know about offering them rides, etc. I pray they show...

show up BEFORE registration

show up BEFORE registration starts!! Be the first in line

I know that your thread text is getting long, sovereignjanice...

... but, please consider adding at least part of my Iowa post that you just responded to your thread text. Also, it seems that both Montana and Iowa have important events taking place on Friday, while your thread title includes "on Saturday, June 16"; perhaps you could change that to say, "this weekend," or some such. I just don't want our delegates to be confused. Thanks.

A Constitutional, Christian conservative who voted for Ron and stands with Rand

done, sorry about that. it

done, sorry about that. it gets confusing with all the replies.

Yes! SHOW UP!

And whether you live there and can attend or not, please pray! We need all the help we can get. The newspaper's already talking about attempts that are going to be made in Iowa to block RP supporters... but if we have a majority that doesn't work. So the most important thing is, SHOW UP!!!

I don't know if guests are

I don't know if guests are able to be upgraded to delegates at the actual convention like they were able to at the IL convention, but if you live close to Hy-Vee Hall, Hall C - 730 3rd St, Des Moines, it can't hurt to show up and find out.

No,

you have to already be a delegate (or alternate). However, if you were a delegate or alternate but didn't make it to the district convention in April, you can still come to the state convention this weekend (and the reconvening district conventions on Friday).

ok, gotcha. thanks

ok, gotcha. thanks

especially if it's not a long

especially if it's not a long drive. Who knows. You might be able to help out

Love your Direction SovergnJanice

We all appreciate the unity your are bringing forth, this is what we need more, I swear our website is festering with Romney supporters, obama quacks, haters, scum, dividers, spies, you name it, we gotta stay unified for the goal we aim to reach, I guess if we have people doing this to us that means were definitely doing something right lol

Per the State GOP, the address of the Montana Convention is:

"in Missoula, MT at the Hilton Garden Inn."

http://mtgop.org/index.php/state-convention.html

Putting that into MapQuest resulted in...

Hilton Garden Inn-Missoula
3720 N. Reserve St.
Missoula, MT 59808
406-532-5300

It looks like one would want to take Interstate 90 to Missoula, then take Exit 101 southbound (N. Reserve St.) for 2 or 3 blocks. Missoula is up in the Rockies in Western Montana; those of you coming from the Eastern part of the state will have a long drive, so please plan accordingly. Thank you, Montana Liberty patriots!

I hate to clutter up your thread, sovereignjanice, but maybe you should put the Convention address up there, too. Thanks.

A Constitutional, Christian conservative who voted for Ron and stands with Rand

While I would love to be wrong about this...

... my understanding is that Montana is not an "entry level" convention. According to Green Papers, to be a State Convention delegate you have to have been "elected from each county by the County Central Committee at least 10 days before the State Convention":

http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P12/MT-R#0614

Therefore, as I understand it, our Montana Liberty patriots cannot just "show up" at the convention and expect to participate.

The good news is, all of Montana's 26 delegates are unbound, so if Dr. Paul gets a plurality, it is certain that it will count as one of the 5 states needed to have his name placed in nomination in Tampa. Go, Montana Liberty State Convention delegates!

You are right

All of our delegates have already been chosen in Montana at our county conventions. If all of our Paul delegates show up, this is going to be the big payoff for our movement. My county is 100% Paul, neighboring county is about 90% Paul. Let's hope all 56 counties are as strong!

Each county gets a certain number of "votes" regardless of how many delegates represent the county, so I don't believe any guests will be seated. Attendance as a guest is pretty pricey, close to $200. Most of our people are already in Missoula to register tomorrow morning. It's probably a 600 mile trip for some of the eastern counties to get to Missoula! We are the 4th largest state in the Union.

I will post any updates I get!

thank you for the update on Montana

Good luck, Optimistic!

Ron Paul ... forever.

are you a delegate?

are you a delegate?

to 2 delegates. One is a County Chairman, the other is a statewide candidate for office. I have asked both to email me any updates that I can share with the Liberty movement.

Thank you, optimystic!

... I have also started a thread that makes clear that the Montana State Convention actually starts today. If you could upvote it and help keep it bumped until tomorrow at 10:00 MDT, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't know, but I'd rather

I don't know, but I'd rather have more people show up than are able to as opposed to not.

I am with you in theory, sovereignjanice...

... but Montana is a large state, and I would hate for someone to drive for many hours, only to be "turned away" at the Convention. If a non-delegate wants to go for the purpose of helping out and providing moral support, then that would be great.

A Constitutional, Christian conservative who voted for Ron and stands with Rand

I would not want to people

I would not want to people make a long drive for nothing either. I would encourage any curious party to do everything possible to find out for sure from multiple sources.

I completely agree, sovereignjanice...

... Montana Liberty patriots, please contact your local Paul group and double-check everything that is posted here! God bless!
