Excellent Gary Johnson Interview

I know there will be some on here who will be upset at a GJ post but, to reiterate a point I made in another thread, the liberty movement is about more than one person (said by Ron Paul). My #1 choice by a LOT is Ron Paul but if he doesn't get the nomination and retires then GJ is getting my vote. He's no Ron Paul (he certainly doesn't understand economics the Way Ron does) but he'd be a major step in the right direction for this country and he is absolutely a fiscal conservative.

I agree, ask Mod to move this to Current Events or Politics forum

That said, thanks very much for posting the link. You are right this is an interview worth watching. First of all, I like Gary's respect and support for Ron Paul, and that he doesn't expect an endorsement from Dr Paul. He wants an opportunity to debate Romney & Obama. Great initiative, energy, and commitment.

dont post it on this forum

Don't post it on the "Ron Paul 2012" forum. Post it on a different forum ie "DP Liberty Forum" or "Current Events" or "Politics and Law". Folks here have a legitimate gripe about posting GJ content in the RP2012 forum. I don't think it's appropriate myself and I don't blame others for rejecting it on those grounds. However I don't believe we have a legitimate gripe if you post it in one of the other forums.

Certainly there has to be a mutually acceptable place on this website for posting content pertaining to government, electoral politics and campaign news. People post articles and videos of Romney, Obama, and scores of other crooked ass politicians on this site. We can not exclude content about this one politician who has always had kind words to say about Ron, and has supported Ron when few other Republicans would. It's not like he ever endorsed McCain or umm... Romney (cough cough). And that boy has his own forum here.

There has to be some way to come to some sort of agreement, in order to restore some peace around here in the wake of last weeks endorsement fiasco. It's gonna take some time to clean up the mess that boy created last week. Don't drive people away. Keep them here.

Voting for

Gary Johnson is not beyond my purview.

In fact...

I switched from the Libertarian Party to the Republican Party in order to support and vote for Ron Paul. But if Ron Paul is not the Republican Presidential Nominee, then I'm seriously thinking that Gary Johnson has this Libertarian's vote.

Sometimes DPers drive me crazy

We all love Dr. Paul. But why is it that Alex Jones, Garry Johnson, or any other liberty lover's posts gets down votes ... it's embarrassing. Now, I do think these posts should have their own category in the forum but don't down vote people because they are not Ron Paul. Apparently, his son isn't either.

Why are there...

so many downvotes for any post about Gary Johnson? I've been an RP supporter ever since the R3VOLUTION began in 07 spending my afternoons and evenings holding signs sometimes in the freezing cold because I believed in his message so strongly and loved that the establishment hated him. Ron Paul is still my first choice but it would be unwise not to have a backup plan in Gary. In fact if Dr. Paul isn't nominated at the convention he could still be a Vice Presidential candidate on LP ticket. I think sore loser laws make it hard for RP to run for President in another party but maybe GJ could step aside for Ron, who knows. I 'll say it again though, I did not register Republican to become a Republican and bang my head against the wall trying to get neocons to change their inner warmongering personalities that frankly will most likely never change. On top of that the cold hard fact is that both establishment parties are owned by the same corrupt banking and military industrial-complex factions who also rig our votes. They will never be taken over and the law lets them get away with it because they are private clubs or something stupid like that. We need to keep the liberty message going into the fall capturing the attention of independents, former democrats and anyone else who hasn't heard the message yet.

Gary Johnson Has Beltway’s Attention & Willie Nelson’s Endorseme

"Rob Nikolewski has done a better job following Johnson’s growing impact on the conversation, if not yet the electorate. As he has reported, national polling organizations will be including Johnson in their surveys. Another poll reported by Nikolewski found Johnson pulling 7% of the national vote in a three-way race with Obama and Romney. Johnson has qualified for federal funds, and it is likely he will be on the ballot in every state. Johnson dipped into his personal fortune in his first race for Governor. On a national stage, his resources won’t go as far as they did in New Mexico. But they can keep him alive, especially in selected swing states. The other unknown is whether Ron Paul’s money bomb capabilities will shift to Johnson as the standard-bearer of the libertarian cause.

As the Real Clear Politics article concludes: “At this juncture, neither the Romney campaign nor the Obama campaign has been willing to comment on Johnson and how he might impact the election. But underestimating that impact on what has proved to be a volatile electorate over the past two years could be a mistake.”

“I am truly gratified to have the endorsement of such an iconic entertainer, philanthropist, innovator and champion for individual rights as Willie Nelson,” Johnson says, accepting the endorsement. “Not only is he a superstar talent, he is a bold advocate for social change. Americans are demanding the freedom and opportunity to pursue their dreams without interference from a heavy-handed government, and Willie Nelson lends a tremendous voice to those demands.”

Nothing against gay people,

Nothing against gay people, but I want to know if Gary Johnson is gay 'before' I go and vote for him. Please no after the fact revelations. He sure had a gay demeanor at the first debate. Nothing against his words, ideas, or athleticism, but gay or not I think the main reason these potentially great candidates don't get traction with voters is probably because of how they speak, and how nerdy, weak, and girly they sound which again has nothing to do with their great ideas.

Ron Paul's voice is not excluded from criticism. He's come a long way from people shutting him out based on the sound of his voice to having people listening to his words, and now I love his voice because when I hear it I know the brand of truth, honesty and ideals I crave to hear. Perot, Paul, Johnson all come to mind as candidates who had C- voices, and A to A+ ideas.

Well, he's a little too soft

Well, he's a little too soft spoken to rally people behind him. I like him so I'll vote for him because he'll be on the ballot, but if he is real serious about taking the White House then he's got to get voice lessons - like real stand up and lead the crowd voice lessons. The way he weaves his head is not presidential either and is another thing he'll need to work on. Either that or he'll need a real loud cheer leader to introduce him before he speaks.

I prefer people who don't try

I prefer people who don't try to be something they're not. He's a quite, introspective, thoughtful person.

But maybe this is a little closer to what you want to see?

I recall in one debate when

I recall in one debate when the candidates were asked if they could choose anyone on stage to be their running mate, who would it be. GJ was the only one to answer that question by choosing RP.

Excellent Gary Johnson Interview with Alex Jones

Thank you for posting. As Alex said "Gary Johnson is a libertarian in every sense of the word. ... People should get behind you." We need to start working to get the word out about how Johnson is so much better than Romney. So many Americans need a reason to vote for someone other than Obama and Romney. Johnson will be the only candidate on the ballot who will abolish the Homeland Security agency, who will not bomb Iran and who will withdraw our troops from Afghanistan immediately.

LOL...

Right! Except that he is a globalist! And as soon as Gary says something that Alex thinks he can profit from...you will be able to clock how quickly Jones turns Johnson into another Debra Medina/Rand Paul/Ron Paul with an egg timer.

But hey...TrevorDarden has endorsed Johnson and Alex is on board...Let me grab my Tin Foil hat and let's partay!

Ron Paul 2012 - It's Almost Here!

Alex Jones...

may be full of it but his website is where I first learned about DR. Paul running for President because there was a picture of him on Infowars front page.

I am glad you found RP and

I am glad you found RP and DP...However, now Jones thinks Ron is a traitor because Webster Tarpley (who is a Lyndon LaRouche socialist flunky) says so. Jones has a pattern of building people up and then, when the time is right, profiting by taking them down.

Ron Paul 2012 - It's Almost Here!

Stop spreading lies

Alex said he was disappointed Ron Paul ran his campaign this way. But he has said time and time again that A. Ron Paul is great. B. Ron Paul has done more than anyone else for liberty C. he still loves Ron Paul. He has said it even when he was angry with the Pauls. Come on now.

Fine interview

Johnson is certainly worth voting for IF Ron Paul is not on the ballot. That is what I intend to do.

Most of the comments are just plain ignorant.

h-daddy

Agreed

I'm the OP and I definitely didn't want to imply anything other than GJ as a **2nd choice** to RP.

Right on H-daddy!

It's great to see older DP members starting to consider GJ as a good second choice. It's only something I've considered in the past few days but it sounds better and better daily. The Fifty(or almost fifty) state ballot access for the LP is awesome. If it does come down to GJ I think the focus for fund raising should be for legal challeges to get in the debates and stopping election fraud. If any campaigns are to get our money we must decide what it is used on.

Thanks.

The anti-Johnson venom on Daily Paul is quite remarkable. Shocking to me, really. I always think of Ron Paul supporters as intellectual and open-minded. And, importantly, that they are rational thinkers. There is a decision to be made come November. I have faith that the vast majority of Ron Paul supporters will cast a vote and it will be for someone that can move the rEVOLution forward.

h-daddy

we arent here for LP

President Paul President Paul President Paul. Stop posting GJ when RP isnt out of the race. Show some respect till at least after tampa in august...

I want with

all my heart to see Ron Paul get the nomination but if he doesn't and after Tampa everyone switches to GJ it will be too late to get him in the debates with Obama and Romney. I think it would be wise to get GJ at 15% in the polls as back-up if Dr. Paul doesn't get the nomination. He has to poll 15% before September 3 to get in the debates and they probably won't have a poll right after Tampa to block him. My first choice will always be Ron Paul, but writing him in won't do anything seeing how the media won't say anything about it (sorry TMOT). I looked up the results in Virginia from the 2008 election and there was a few Ron Paul write ins, but also there was cartoon characters and other nonsense. I am sure GJ will step aside if the good doctor gets the nomination to unite the Liberty movement. But no one listens and they will just say don't post about GJ and I am waiting to see what happens in Tampa, as Ron Paul said it's not about him it's about Liberty and Peace not a cult following like you see with Obummer or WRongmney.

He's technically in the race,

He's technically in the race, but realistically, he's truly out of the race.

I will make you a deal though. I promise you all right now, if Ron Paul defeats Mitt Romney in the primary, I will vote for Ron Paul instead of my favored candidate, Gary Johnson.

Is there any reason for anyone to not vote for Gary Johnson if Ron loses? I mean, aside from made up reasons like "he loves the IRS and the Fed and loves to make government bigger and wants to imprison everyone and kicks puppies" and other funny fables.

How about....

He is, at the very least, under the influence of the CFR and is on record telling kids that drugs are cool. How about is not even for states rights when it comes to abortion but would prefer to defer to the woman every time (his words not mine).. Keep fighting John..On election day your efforts might get Gary from .025% to .026...But I doubt it. :)

Ron Paul 2012 - It's Almost Here!

Kids think drugs are cool.

Kids think drugs are cool. That was his point. They are cool because they are illegal.

Actually, he is for states rights when it comes to abortion. He says he will appoint conservative judges that would likely disagree with RvW. Same as Ron Paul. He just feels it isn't his right, as a true libertarian a la Rothbard, to tell a woman she can't have an abortion. Rothbard was vehemently pro-choice.
