I've never been so sad visiting the DPSubmitted by sbar07 on Fri, 06/15/2012 - 09:48
I've been visiting the Daily Paul for quite a while now and have been a Ron Paul supporter since 2007. Never did I think I would have so much anger and frustration built up in me toward my own fellow RP supporters. The stubbornness and extremism I've seen lately is extremely saddening. The intolerance for anything but perfection is ignorant and counter-productive. This is the case in two major issues right now in the liberty movement.
The first thing that disappoints me is what many of you have been saying in regards to Rand Paul's endorsement of Romney. Don't get me wrong, I was very disappointed in the endorsement myself. That day, my reaction was a post of "Goddammit Rand Paul" on facebook. But to call him a traitor or a neocon and disavow him is absolutely uncalled for. It's like many of you have just lost your minds throughout this fight. His endorsement of Romney doesn't change what we can visibly see that his ideology is. He is still a member of the Liberty movement. This treatment is not warranted. He is still doing more for the Liberty movement than any Senator in my lifetime, yet that apparently means nothing to you because of a couple unimportant decisions we disagree with.
The second issue of ignorance is about all the anti-Gary Johnson sentiment. It's very frustrating to read about so many people who say they're going to write in Ron Paul even if he's not a candidate. What good does that do?? Your vote literally will not count. You have a chance to support an actual liberty candidate for president and a chance to buck the two-party system and all you care about is satisfying your own deranged and misguided conscience? I've never once thought so many Ron Paul supporters could be so closed-minded. Not only that, but many of you treat this as if you're either a RP supporter or a GJ supporter, like you can't somehow fight for Paul in the primaries while at the same time spreading the word about Johnson in case Paul isn't the nominee.
When the GOP convention is over and if no miraculous upset happens, PLEASE do not throw your vote away in the general election. Voting for a non-candidate is equivalent to not voting at all. You might as well vote for yourself or Thomas Jefferson or Jesus. Please just be rational and remember this isn't about a person, it's about an idea, and that idea will not spread if you just cling to one person and only accept perfection.
