Does the campaign need to communicate more with the grassroots?

0 votes

This post is to see if a lot of people think that way. If you do agree, say so and we will try to communicate it to the official HQ. The reason I am posting this is because:

1.The only time the official HQ wtites a letter to the grassroots is when money is needed.

2. Many important events happen and the official HQ does not send a message at all. For eg. there has been no word from the official HQ after the NH primary. Any communication would be helpful to the whole cause.

Campaign Finance laws

The problem in this situation are things like the blimp.

The grassroots has done a lot of things that are not necessarily FEC compatible in the sense that if there is a larger official campaign involvement then a lot of the things done here would fall under federal laws....

I think this is why Ron Paul doesn't do a lot with the Grassroots. (note: he spoke about not attending the Tea Party in Boston because of the implication of the Blimps and the room costs which where privately funded)

That being said, he could send letters with general ideas to work towards...like the whole precinct leader thing.

I've actually emailed the

I've actually emailed the campaign about this issue. I live in the Northern Virginia area and have been to the campaign office to volunteer. Unfortunately due to my money constraints at the moment, I can't spend more time volunteering, but I did email Justine Lam about possibly setting up a "grassroots coordinator" position to better organize and keep information flowing to the grassroots. We could certainly be much more efficient, which reflects positivly on Dr. Paul. I've heard people were turned off by the fact that they'd recieve the same flier or phone call 5 times, which I think is probably because there is no organization between the various meetup groups.

She's yet to respond though. Maybe I'll give her a call......

Please do

thanks!

I agree

I think that communication is vital. It's not cool sitting here wondering whether or not Ron Paul is going to call for a recount, then having to do it ourselves (http://grannywarrior.chipin.com/recount).

It would be nice if he kept us up to date on his official page or sent out more news letters, etc.

As this is the first time this has happened in HISTORY

I think the issue is they have no idea of how to utlilize grass roots EXCEPT ask for money. never had anything like us on this planet, brother...never.

This is the funny part...whenever they ask us for money?

We don't give them any.

So where does that leave them?

Seriously, think about the hardened campaign folks at HQ. There are 120,000 rabid, committed, obsessed, wild animals who will do anything to get the doc elected. For laughs, we give him more money in less time than any other campaign in history and then drop half a million on a blimp.

They get a steady stream of emails from us telling them to go to hell or resign or both and then, we give them more money.

What the hell would you do?

They ask for nothing they get 19.5M they ask for 23M they get hate mail.

It is like I always say the grassroots campaign is like a really crowded bar right before the police come.....only problem? The police never come.

Chaos brother, Out of control by nature. Any attempt to coordinate this ain't gonna happen. IT IS A RABBLE THAT IS SOLELY DRIVEN BY EMOTIONS.

One of those primary emotions?....RAGE. People are tear assed and everything that happens just pisses them off more.

If this was a bar and I was from NHQ I wouldn't walk in for any amount of money...are you kidding me?

Nope, you are hanging out in authority issue central and the NHQ is the authority and we got the issues.

Can't you see them in Arlington? "

Hey, guys I got another 379 emails from our supporters....let's see...hmmmm....well... only two hundred of them want us to quit....wait there's more...50 think we are doing poorly and wait a second this is way better than yesterday! There's only like 23...24...25 death threats....we are winning this thing!"

Unify

Yes, i TOTALLY agree

I have actually thought of this just a day ago, thinking that the RP Campaign SHOULD hire at least one guy that interacts with grassroots supporters, and openly posts on daily paul and Ron Paul Forums to get input right from the people. I mean that just sounds right anyway, surprised we haven't done this yet.

Lets get someone on the official campaign to start speaking with us!

Investigate Zoo Hypothesis

what is the best way to contact the HQ?

phone?

how do I contact the campaign

my suggestion

I recently posted that an official campaign blogger could provide the much needed link.

http://www.dailypaul.com/node/23868

this idea is my $0.02 on the subject

That is exactly right

and that would serve the felt need.

Yes! Its a feedback information Loop

Yes HQ needs to complete the circle, make information flow all the way around. Why? Because its an informational Feed Back Loop. We have half a feedback loop with the donation Graph..... Now we need the other half, showing expenditures where and how and proposed.

Here is what they need to do:

Let us both Propose and Vote collectively on upcoming Expenditures.

Ron Paul talks a lot about Govt becoming Transparent, his Campaign needs to come Transparent and circular. It needs to allow us a way to vote on proposed expenditures.... their is a Wisdom of Crowds. Read about it here: http://www.randomhouse.com/features/wisdomofcrowds/

And Ron Paul and HQ can tape into that amazing power of the collective wisdom buy letting us propose and vote on expenditures.... this will in turn Drive the DONATIONS UP. People pay for what they want.

For example: SC..... HQ proposes to run 2 TV commercials say immigration and the Real Id......and spend $600,000. Yet because HQ has a FEEDBACK page, those of us in the movement Respond by proposing the 2 TV Commercials "Something Big" and "War & Spending" ad by Eliberty and spend $2,500,000 for over 9000 hours of advertising.

That may make HQ stop and think. It may make those in the movement inclined to do even more. The circular feedback between HQ and the movement can get very nimble and quick to respond to conditions the those at HQ do not see. Thats where the wisdom of Crowds come in.

Treg/Tempe AZ Meet Up

DUH

you think?

Yes, for 2 reasons

1) Because it's a smart strategy to keep the base informed. If the Campaign is buying a week of ads before Michigan, why not tell the donors that, say halfway into the project? What ad and where. I'm not talking about giving away the Colonel's secret recipe for God's sake, just tell the base what you're up to. Show them how their dollars are going to work. To not do this and more is COUNTER-productive. It dulls attitudes, spreads false hopes, false rumors and does nothing to set the Grassroots off on aligned pursuits... if, for example, the campaign believes now is the time to strongly oush Ron's fiscal restraint message to Baby Boomers, the Grassroots can parallel that in powerful ways, we are quite good at amplifying. Why let us splinter with silence?

2) Because it's the right thing to do for thousands of people who've given thousands of hours and thousands of dollars.

But no, we just get asked for money. I'm a professional fundraiser, so I know this is not a wise tactic.

The first 5 million supporters of Dr. Paul are 'early adopters.' The next 10 million will require a modified approach.

More communication with the

More communication with the grassroots. I like the idea of a grassroots coordinator. There are a lot of good ideas that aren't getting funded. If HQ could pick up the idea they could make it happen through their end.

There should at least be a place to put the ideas, and have the grassroots community vote for different efforts they would like the campaign to do.

Co-ordinator or communicator?

I do not think there has to be a co-ordinator. if at all, one or few communicators should be good enough. They would let the HQ know what the grassroots are thinkng.
Although this can be accomplished quite simply if the HQ made it a point to visit the main forums daily and send out one or two responses evry week. I fail to understand what is the argument against that and in what way it could be harmful.

possible

It's possible this is just an effort to keep the strategy
from other campaigns. After all there would
be no way for headquarters to share things
with just the dailypaul members.

How do we contact HQ?

This need to be address by HQ.

How do we communicate with them?

Absolutley1 Precisely to point of the following two forum topics

I whole heartly agree. This was the primary message behind the two forum topics I posted. #1. Posted today -and #2. Posted yesterday.

1. Weekly Webcasts from RP HQs

Weekly Webcasts from HQs would be a tremendous boost for the campaign and especially for the grassroots in understanding what is going on.

Currently, there is growing frustration about what the strategy is, where is the money going, and what is the campaign policy on voter fraud and recounts.

While there is still great confidence in the Maestro himself, there is growing concern about the navigation of this movement which so many people have put their heart, soul, money and hope in.

Campaign headquarters would do well to consider the many benefits of a weekly Webcast and the two-way lines of communications it would open.

2. The key to winning is nationwide Webcasting for Voter Recruitment Parties.
Scenario:
1. Headquarters sets a time for a live RP Webcast this Saturday at 5PM.
2. The grassfire and meetup groups plan Ron Paul Parties to recruit voters.
3. Once hearing the Doctor for 30-60 minutes, pronto you have new voters!

See the problem is, the good Doctor’s message won’t fit in a 30 second ad. It does not fit well in a debate, nor a sign or bumper sticker. It’s to much substance, to much history, economics, foreign policy and constitution.

However, you give him a block of 10 minutes or more and he can really spin it out where people start to “get it”. In fact, there is a direct correlation between the amount of time one listens to his message and those who become avid supporters.

Webcasting is to vote raising – what money Bombs are to fundraising. It’s the methodology catching up with the technology. Plus it doesn’t cost hardly anything, and the campaign is not spending its money in the enemy’s camp.

Webcasting it the key to more votes. (It looks great on large monitors, big screen TV’s and fantastic on projectors. Plus, a Ron Paul Party is a great excuse to have one).

Hire Grass roots Coordinator

With the money WE sent in THEY need to hire a grassroot coordinator to continuely contact us via messages and even posts in places like this.. WE need direction.

HIRE ONE NOW!

Most definitely

It doesn't make any sense to me that they can't at least communicate with their own donors - NOT just for more money, but once or twice a week with updates, etc. If you're a willing donor, you're also a potential volunteer activist.

If the national campaign is too busy, why couldn't they sort out donor email addresses by state and let the state coordinators do it? I mean, what else are the state-level people doing? I really don't know. I've never heard from them.

Yes Indeed

Just a modicum of direction - we need this, or please don't do this, would help.

YES !!!!!

I would like to see a comment on here daily. It doesn't have to be long, just address the issues of the day. I want to hear what they are doing about the recount issue.

Yes we need to know what is

Yes we need to know what is going on. If we don't it leads to confusion.
