I worked at a small ABC
I worked at a small ABC affiliate news station in the 1990s and am just floored at how different things are in only 2 decades. The news personnel researched and wrote their own stories. They didn't simply depend on AP. Someone posted a youtube video of a single story done by about 20-30 stations and everyone of them used the exact same copy. It might have been on Jon Stewart; I can't remember where I saw it. I was in tv just before the internet. What I don't understand is are these stations required to report an agenda or is it simply laziness to write their own stories? It almost seemed like an AP feed through the internet and they simply copied it verbatim for their newscast. How easy it would be to manipulate the public with these feeds. It's an amazingly big change in only almost 20 years.

Welcome to Monopoly State Capitalism...
The antithesis of Laissez-Faire Capitalism.
If you want to fix the media, you need a free market in media, that means you have to take away the State's power to regulate and license it.
The current media empires got to where they are, because they lobbyed government to pass legislation that keeps competition out.
When there is high competition, there is high quality.

What are the solutions of
What are the solutions of stopping this? Boycotting them seems to do very little.
One solution
is to get the word out. Name names. Educate people. The corporate echo chamber repeats the same messages incessantly until those messages, false though they are, are taken by the general populace as being factual. We have to attempt to do the same.
