25 craziest things the U.S. government spends money on

You are not going to believe some of the things that the U.S. government is spending money on. According to a shocking new report, U.S. taxpayer money is being spent to study World of Warcraft, to study how Americans find love on the Internet, and to study the behavior of male prostitutes in Vietnam. Not only that, but money from the federal government is also being used to renovate a pizzeria in Iowa and to help a library in Tennessee host video game parties. These are just some of the examples in a new report on government waste from Senator Tom Coburn entitled "Wastebook 2010". Even as tens of millions of American families find themselves suffering through the worst economic downturn in modern history, the U.S. government continues to spend money on some of the craziest and most frivolous things imaginable. Every single year articles are written and news stories are done about the horrific government waste that is taking place and yet every single year it just keeps getting worse. So just what in the world is going on here?

Outrageous. Simply outrageous.

Focus on Ron Paul's campaign and news about such, stop filtering down this site!

I say: if you can't make it better, don't make it worst!

These types of videos are counterproductive, because they lead people to focus on the wrong things. People come away with the conclusion that the problem with government is that they spend money on the wrong things, and all we need is a good manager to make sure government does not waste money (like Romney). But all government spending is waste! We need to cut spending, not spend the money on more "useful" items.

If i may expand on this. "I place economy among the first and most important virtues and public debt as the greatest danger to be feared." Thomas Jefferson. George Soros: The United States must stop resisting the orderly decline of the dollar, the coming global currency and the New World Order.

Read Ron Paul's book Manifesto

He comments on this and how ridiculous it is to point this stuff out. If you add up all the 25 items here and cut them from the budget it would only be .000000000000000000000000000001% of the budget.

Real cuts would be
Stop nation building... come home from Aghganistan 5 billion every month

Stop or cut foreign aid

Bring troops home from 1/3 of all countries

Cut Dept of Energy, Education, and EPA

This would be real cuts. This silly video is drop in the ocean

Actually, it's about .001% of

Actually, it's about .001% of the budget.

But they're just there as examples of extreme stupidity and what happens when people spend money that isn't theirs.

"Annoyance is step one of thinking"
"We're all in the same boat, it doesn't matter if you like me"

Yeah, that's one of the

Yeah, that's one of the things I liked about this video, it's easy to talk about a few million in wasteful spending(heck, the MSM will do stories on that from time to time), but most of our money is being spend on warfare, welfare, and 'bureaucracies'. The 'last point' of the video did something you won't see on the MSM, that all of this pales in comparison to the total devastation wrought by the rest of the budget.

Once again

I am reinsured that America is the biggest land of stupidity in the world

Not just because of what those who are in charge do with people's money, but also because people actually put idiots like this into power.

Now that I have a better

Now that I have a better understanding of where some of my money is going I feel much better about barely being able to provide for my family... Thanks uncle sam:)

The craziest things are perhaps too obvious....

Like these stupid wars we're in, which serve absolutely no purpose, and cost thousands of lives, and trillions of dollars.

Not the worst expenditures

The worst expenditures are not just a waste of money but a threat to our wellbeing. CAPTA legislation passed by the Clinton administration has done unconscionable harm to families across the country by giving CPS agents all of the wrong incentives and all of the immunity and secrecy in the name of privacy to completely corrupt agents.

Georgia ex-Senator Nancy Schaefer used to speak out about it. Now that she's been shot in the back and murdered, there's not many who dare speak up.

But consider this: You get a call from CPS. They say they have your daughter, and you need a lawyer. The next morning you call one. He tells you that you'd win, except that she'll be grown before the case is over and it would at that time be thrown out. Meanwhile you'd never get your daughter back. To make things worse, if you failed to cooperate and go along with them as if they are right, they can take your son as well. His advice: bribe them or comply in order to keep your son. What would you do?

My conscience would not allow me to offer bribery, though in retrospect it may have been justified. My daughter never came home for another birthday or holiday for the rest of her life. Now she's somewhere in another state. I never got to state my case in a trial because of this extortion technique. I can't rest until someone is elected who will put a stop to the nonsense, because other families are still at risk and I know what is going on.

CAPTA provides bounties for as many children removed from their parents as CPS agents can get. If they put the kids on drugs claiming they're mentally special needs kids, they get additional bonus money. It's a multi-billion-dollar-per-year racket. Though the parents are billed for or have the full cost of taking care of the child garnered from their wages, the money flows from federal general funds, social security, medicare/medicaid, and other sources into the pockets of those who support the racket. CAPTA has turned a well-intentioned program designed to save kids into a child exploitation racket. That is worse than any silly and wasteful expenditures listed.

Every family is at risk. Do not think that because of your excellent reputation and standing in the community that you are immune. You may be a teacher at a local university, you may be providing shelter for homeless people in your home, you may be volunteering your time to mentor groups of other children to make achievements together that win them special congressional recognition awards year after year, you may home school them to bring them to a level of 98 and 99 percentile achievement when measured against other kids statewide. You may even send them to college in their early high school years to take advanced calculus classes with regular college students because you've already taught them through basic calculus. It does not matter. I know because this is how it was with my family and they did not hesitate to take my daughter.

I had the opportunity to talk with her and asked her if she would prefer that I fight for her to be emancipated or returned to family or what, and she said that if I would interfere that she would lose an opportunity for a foster children's scholarship. Not wanting to appear to be fighting her, as they were clearly trying to persuade her, I told the lawyer at that point to give up. That was a mistake. Recently I heard that she's working off student loans that she would never have had to get if she had only stayed home. We paid more than enough to CPS to support her so that she should never have had to have any loans.

It's unconscionable. Please research this problem help fight to end it. Your kids could be next. Enjoy them while you have them.

Happy father's day.

By far the worst! Deepest sympathy, my friend

I see this is your first post, Paniolo. Welcome aboard.

Your story is a real heart breaker and big eyeopener. Amidst a thread that focuses on wasteful spending and excess, you have posted a solemn warning that others should hear and heed.

I wish your remaining family peace; and to those who have harmed you in this way, the full measure of judgement they deserve. Aloha ke akua.

"At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea." Matthew 18:1-6

I think the study being done on World of Warcraft may actually be related to disease outbreak. Long story short, in 2005 in WoW, players started becoming 'infected' with a disease (what's known as a 'debuff' in the game) that didn't wear off as intended - and it spread like a plague.

Very interesting stuff, particularly if you're an MMO gamer like me. :)

"After the incident began, Blizzard received calls from angry customers complaining about how they just died."

Yeah, I remember that, it so

Yeah, I remember that, it so creepily resembled a real life biological epidemic...,it's not even funny.

Whether the government should be doing it or not? Definitely not. I wouldn't mind it a private company decided to do it, heck I might even donate money to that type of research, but forcing taxpayers to pay for it? No. It's a pure question of voluntary usage of money compared to involuntary 'robbing'.
