The marijuana legalization effort in Colorado

The marijuana legalization effort in Colorado is expected to get its first endorsement from a presidential candidate today.

The Associated Press reports that Gary Johnson, current Libertarian Party presidential candiate and former New Mexico governor, will stop by a Denver dispensary Monday afternoon and is expected to endorse Colorado's initiative to legalize and regulate marijuana like alcohol, Amendment 64.

There are places I've been in

There are places I've been in Colorado where I could stand (Peetz, for example, with the big wind farms) and look all around me for twenty miles in every direction and see nothing.

Makes you wonder, when things are that remote and spread out, what the hell sort of obsessive compulsive neurotic son of a bitch is going to worry about a bunch of Colorado granola heads smoking a doobie?

I think the Colorado legislature converted to Judaism and started menopause. That's the only thing that could explain their whiny faggotration.

"WAAAAAAAA!!! THEY'RE SMOKING POT! WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!"

Moses Hussein Christ, grow a pair already Denver, would ya?

Nothing less than full legalization

will stop the gang violence and wrongful conviction and incarceration of marijuana users. The greedy pot growers and dealers have been voting against these referendum's in places like Alaska and California in order to keep the price high and protect their profits!

All Americans deserve full legal access to Cannabis. Gary Johnson is a true patriot and deserves a lot of credit here! I hope Ron will join this effort in Colorado and make an appearance there as well.

Thank You Gary!!!

NO STINKING TAXES ON A NON TOXIC VEGETABLE!!!

This plant should be growing EVERYWHERE in this great country of ours and we should be using it for what our God and Savior intended us to use it for! FOOD FUEL FIBER and MEDICINE. We CAN NOT allow these money hungry fools to tax a flower! RESIST this BS. Take a few handfuls of the seeds and plant them everywhere! In the Court House Flower beds in all 50 states! In the median strip along the highways..at every police officers house in every state in every town...the list is long where we need to do this but we need to do this..the more attention it gets the more people will start to think. The only "facts" our wonderful government has put into print about this wonderful plant has been LIES FOR THE PAST 90 YEARS! This NON TOXIC FLOWER must be allowed to grow anywhere YOU WANT IT TO GROW! SCREW TAXING THIS FLOWER!

Cannabis Hemp Oil CURES DISEASE

the government never had jurisdiction

... over plants. Where did we give them jurisdiction and for what reason? Where is the Constitutional justification for total government control of all plants and for that matter animals? F the government. F total control. F the FDA, DEA, ADA, AMA, and all the rest of the god-forsaken alphabet agencies and their intransigent bureaucracies, ever-increasing budgets, and dystopian results.

Smash them into a thousand pieces and scatter them to the wind.

Another illusioned freedom proposition to control nature

Bingo.

the government never had jurisdiction over plants.

Legalization would move government into nature: Legalization would move nature into government. That's a bad, bad move.

That's why I wrote my post below how I did, talking about control. I think you'd agree. Here's my argument on food as genetically modified organisms. It applies to the marijuana argument.

GJ = MARIJUANA

Yep.

And that's the main reason I'm opposing GJ and calling all his supporters nothing but marijuana one trick/issue voters.

If all you got is marijuana as a rason to vote, or a main reason to vote, you're smoking too much marijuana.

I Don't Care What You Call Me

You are doing EXACTLY what Ron Paul's enemies did to him: Calling him a pro-drug candidate, and his supporters pot-heads.

I've never smoked pot, I support Gary Johnson, and you could hardly call me one trick/issue voter, unless that one trick/issue is FREEEEEEDOM!!!!!

You're a collectivist for lumping a whole group together and calling them names. Shame.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

Yes you do care.

What I know of you, YOU CARE, and that's one reason I like you. You give a damn.

Ron Paul's enemies continue to call him pro-drug and believe his supporters are pot heads. My central committee thinks I'm a pot head. I am pro-drug and for legalization so they are not wrong, however, Ron Paul/ Daily Paul and posters like you, have educated me on many issues, so I am able to discuss many things and the pot issue has faded away, but definately not gone away.

I don't miss the Libertarian Party, where from 1976 to 1992, our meetings were mostly about pot and being elected.

Being decline to state party and working with Ralph Nader, the issue was pot, and getting ballot access and debates, for third parties and indys.

Now I am a Ron Paul Republican, and my only regreet is not having done it sooner, as I have more power now to actually get a pro-pot agenda happening, despite the Libertarian Party haters.

Ron Paul has so much more to offer than GJ who is a Republican, like Bob Barr. All he's doing is keeping the GOP haters on the outside where they have no power to actually make their issues a reality.

Ron Paul is a Republican.

Ron Paul is a Republican. Gary Johnson is a Libertarian.

Don't make things up.

GJ is a LP for this election

then he goes back to where the real power is, GOP

No, he won't do that.

No, he won't do that. That's something Ron Paul or Bob Barr would do.

He's committed to building the Libertarian Party, rather than change a party that can easily marginalize him.

Being LP is being marginalized

Thats why they never win anything.

No, they never win anything

No, they never win anything because they select peope that can't communicate the concept of freedom without scaring people. Ron Paul got only .45% of the vote in his one real attempt at the Presidency.

And GJ Will Get More Votes Maybe

...since he has a huge website (here)...the festival to honor RP...use of the great money bomb tactic...

Sorry, I just don't think Ron Paul's lifelong goal was to be the John the Baptist of Gary Johnson.

But I guess I could be wrong. Perhaps GJ will stand up at PaulFest and honor Ron Paul by saying "I owe it all to you. Your blog...your supporters..visibility at your convention...your winning speech points...your liberty lingo and hooks...your reputation in Congress. Thank you Dr. Paul. I could not have done this without you."

fonta

Actually, I think Gary will

Actually, I think Gary will do EXACTLY that even though . Ron Paul is someone I view as in imperfect candidate but has been a great leader for the movement and I hope that he mends fences with Gary.

I view Gary as imperfect as well, but we are getting closer to that Ronald Reagan caliber person. Once we can have a TRULY charsimatic leader who draws in people like honey, we will have a shot.

Mends Fences???

..but you've said Gary went and got Ron Paul's blessing. That Ron Paul has said he would be behind Gary. etc. etc. etc.

Now there are fences to mend? Too confusing for me.

Why don't you run? You draw people in like honey so maybe you have a shot.

fonta

No, Gary went to get Ron's

No, Gary went to get Ron's blessing and he kicked him out apparently. I don't know what was said, i just saw it reported that "the meeting was cut short" as soon as Johnson told him why he came to visit. And that explains why Johnson has repeatedly said he doesn't expect Johnson to endorse him, even though Johnson has repeatedly endorsed Ron Paul.

I can understand if Ron Paul had said "hey, look, I'm going to make one last effort here, so you're free to run, but of course, I'm blessing myself. " And then he could have offered Gary the VP position if he got the nomination, since he would be a perfect choice. I think Gary would have offered Ron the VP slot if he thought he would take it.

I'm too politicly incorrect to run. I don't have the patience for the BS. Gary is good because he's truly a nice guy and extremely patient. If someone had asked me the "what kind of reality show" question in a debate, I'd go off on him for being a hack reporter and a danger to democracy.

By helping us

You will get what you want, I do not want division as I am sure others don't either.

But using this vehicle we are as close as we have ever been to the power structure that needs to be changed.

We all share common ideas. If Gary Johnson would just be kind enough to endorse RP at paulfest it would be a devastating blow to the establishment powers that be.

This would also create a rift in the Democratic party

Both parties are in shambles, we could work together and lay the foundation for liberty candidates and fill the vacuum

I know you are staunch supporters of Gary Johnson, I respect that, but we can sit under a big umbrella afterwards.

The doors is 1/4 open, with an endorsement from GJ we can push it open half-way at least and confuse the crap out of them.

The benefits would out way our differences, which I know I helped promote by making negative posts.

A cabinet position would put GJ and you, in a fantastic position that may have taken 10 years before to obtain.

You have to see what's really happening, it's not RP vs GJ

It's about saving the country, there's not much time left

This is the last GJ post I will make I hope he considers this

I agree totally. I think we

I agree totally. I think we need to have a 2-pronged, if not 3-pronged approach.

Weaken the Republicans through infiltration, weaken the Democrats through infiltration and attack from the outside as well.

If Gary Johnson is getting marketshare from without, it forces Republicans and Democrats to move in order to cover their bases and keep them from leaving. Democrats will be forced to come out against the drug war and immigration war. Republicans will be forced to come out against the Fed and IRS.

Both parties will ALWAYS shift to try to maintain as close to 50% market share as possible. But if they don't move fast enough, it could become 40/40/20. Either way, liberty wins and grows.

That's why I'm realistic that Paul won't win the nomination BUT there is a huge chance to influence policy, moving Republicans to where they can pick up independents from Democrats. Johnson takes independents from Democrats. Then they shrink. And they lose. And they need to reevaluate their statist beliefs. Get them into a war over who believes in smaller government and more freedom.

You can lose the battle and still win the war.

As stated in Prop 215, it should be free of cost

We have lost our way from Prop 215 and now we have a profit industry that thinks selling out to the state by agreeing to pay MASSIVE taxes and establishing regulations and an industry is going to make life better for the sick and dependent on medical marijuana.

I suggest to you that what will happen is that the laws will be harsher, not lighter, sentances will be longer, not shorter, fines will increase, not decrease, for Big Brother is dependable in taking form us to grow themselves.

Decriminalization is the way.

And finally, while medical marijuana can help sick people, when they consume medical marijuana with tons of sugar and smoke cigaretts, and drink alcohol.. I'm not seeing wellness, but recreation, so why not get real and work to have marijauna decriminalized for recreation purposes, after all, it has killed no one, except as an accomplice to BAD LAWS that grow gangs and law firms for criminals.

Decriminalization is why

Decriminalization is why there is still a problem.

It's not truly legal and the state can still screw with anyone it chooses.

Make it entirely legal and people will just grow it in their back yards and you won't have an MJ dispensary across the street from you, nor will the government be sucking more tax money from you.

It's decriminalized in Mendo

so you are wrong. http://www.mmmab.net/

So it's cooler to be

So it's cooler to be half-constitutional and semi-libertarian. Got it.

Cooler?

I'm not interested in being "cooler". I'm interested in getting Ron paul's message out there and understood.

Which one?!? The pro

Which one?!?

The pro immigration one or the anti-immigration one?

The pro border fence or anti-border fence?

The pro flag burning or anti flag burning?

The pro gay marriage or anti gay marriage?

The pro Israel or anti-Israel one?

Which Ron Paul?

You really don't get Ron Paul

Tell, me, why are you supporting Ron Paul beginning with the issues you have listed here.

Its simple. although he

Its simple. although he tries to have it both ways in areas where he SHOULD be pro-liberty and not pro government, I feel someone who is 80% correct is WAY better than someone who is about 20% correct.

And I don't bring these up to bust on Ron Paul. I do it to bust on his supporters, who seem to be incapable of understanding that he is NOT the messiah, that he is just a good spokesman for the movement, and one that is not always going to be around.

We don't need a leader. But we could use a few more good spokespeople. IMO, Gary's candidacy helped Ron Paul double his success over 2008. Of course, Romney helped too, as did the wars. Even the most pro-war people are pretty exhausted with it all. But Gary certainly didn't seem to harm him by having a similar message. It helped give him more validity.

It would be an interesting poll. "Did Gary Johnson's liberty oriented message make you feel more inclined to support Ron Paul over the more socially conservative candidates or more inclined to support Gary Johnson?
