Ron Paul looks to block military operations in Syria

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) said he would introduce legislation this week that would block what he said are the Obama administration's unilateral plans to involve itself militarily with Syria.

"This week I'm introducing legislation to prohibit the administration, absent a declaration of war by Congress, from supporting directly or indirectly any military or paramilitary operations in Syria," Paul said on the House floor. "I hope my colleagues will join me in this effort."

Paul said rumors that the administration is looking to use military force in Syria appear to be true in light of new press reports that the Defense Department is planning on that eventuality. But Paul, a candidate for the GOP presidential nomination this year, accused the administration of spreading "war propaganda" to justify military action.

Syria is one of the seven countries that General Wesley Clark

said the US intended to take over.

By hook or by crook (mostly crook) the US moves in, provokes civil war. And then "humanitarily" intervenes to stop the violence.

Just coinidence I am sure than Syria borders on Iran and is Iran's (and Russia's) biggest ally in the region.

EVERYBODY should know this for what it is.

I actually admire the Russians for standing up to yet ANOTHER

covertly provoked civil war, being used as an excuse to invade.

Russia may no longer be a super power, but SOMEBODY has to eventually stand up to US imperialism.

This is a very good move by Dr. Paul.

At the very least it will draw attention to what is going on in the Middle East out of sight of the American people. There is a good series of articles at Land Destroyer that detail the overall plans and covert actions of the US Administration with regard to Syria:

There is also the very informative video by US four star general Wesley Clark from 2007 where he discloses the foreign policy coup that took place after 9/11 but that had been planned by the neo-cons as far back as 1992:

There is also a mention in this insightful video about AIPAC of how the national interests of the US and Israel while never coincident are becoming increasingly less so to the point that the Pentagon general staff are opposing the neo-con world domination agenda, especially the plan to attack Iran which would follow Syria since the road to Teheran runs through Damascus. The interview with the young Israeli diplomat at the end of the movie is particularly pointed.

It will be interesting to see how this legislation is treated especially in an election year. One would normally expect it to be shuffled off into committee never to be seen again but the timing of its introduction is I believe strategic. One question is how much power does AIPAC still have? In normal circumstances most of the Congress would oppose this act but how will that sit with their constituents?

This is a strikingly bold move by Dr. Paul and I hope that people see it for what it is.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

More Christian blood

The most important unreported story of the past decade has been the slaughter and forced dispersion of tens of thousands of Arab Christians out of Iraq and into Syria under American occupation. The US government has allied with those who support this genocide of Arab Christians. Sadly, we are now on the side of those in Syria who will continue this genocide. Even sadder, it has been done with the support of the American Israeli lobby and its fronts such as the American Enterprise Institute. Ron Paul was the only candidate who mentioned the slaughter of Arab Christians as a reason to not go to war in the Middle East. I wonder how many know that the primary supplier of Al Quida is the US government with our foreign aid to Pakistan. Why does the media ignore this genocide against Arab Christians and why are the churches so silent? I wish Dr. Paul would mention these attrocities in every speech he gives as they are examples of our corrupt foreign policy.

Thats My Boy!!!

Now that is what conviction looks like! Thank You Dr. Paul for your steadfast commitment to peace and a sensible foreign policy.

... by requiring they follow the Constitution.

MODS, this deserves Front Page, please.

For those still complaining about Ron not appearing as much as during recent months of campaigning, consider that RP is working hard to stop war, stop the Fed, restore civil liberties as much as possible while he's still in Congress.

WE have to take over the Campaign, Ron has bigger battles to fight against Leviathan. We only have the RNC to take over short term, and our personal local efforts.

I have already requested that they put the

thread of the video of his floor speech today on the front page - nothing yet.
