I need "religious" input ASAP
Submitted by lynnopoly on Thu, 01/10/2008 - 13:47
I am in SC and the numbers of churches here is astronomical. I am putting together a newsletter to put on the cars in church parking lots. I need fact articles based on religious views and religious in-site on any/all candidates. I want stuff well written and FACT based. Nothing too harsh, just informative that will sway christian voters from looking at anyone other then RP. Please post links.
So far I have:

This makes no sense
This makes no sense whatsoever. If anything one could make the argument that freedom is temporal and truth (if it exists) is forever.
Christians are very
Christians are very concerned about Israel. And it is the subtext of their support for the Huckster.
A great flyer would be

This must be driven home. This war mongering mentality that many conservatives have taken up, is not only unbiblical, its sinful. No man can preach the merits and love of Christ, the very core of what CHRISTianity is, and uphold an idea of preemptive war, secret prisons, unjust laws, etc.
Beyond that, I would address the $54 trillion needed to manage social security and medicare. the realities of this war and its true cost need to be conveyed on everyday terms.

Married for 50 years!
Don't forget to include that he has been married to the same woman for 50 years. This means a lot to me as a Christian, and is a huge strike against ghouliani.
If Dr. Paul wanted to win over Fundamentalists
Dr. Paul could mention that he once studied to be a minister. He could also mention that he never performed an abortion. He could state that part of the reason he is opposed to a national I.D card is that he feels that biometrics, RFID and microchips in I.D. are leading to a place mentioned in prophecy, where Christians will be persecuted. He could say that he was not opposed to the Israeli’s per se, just all this high foreign aid and military expeditions all over the world.
If Dr. Paul wanted to win over Fundamentalists to his economic policy more he could say: "The Bible states in the Old Testament that the Children of Israel were to have just weights and measures in dealing with transactions. The reason Jesus chased the moneychangers out of the temple was they were making his Fathers house into a den of thieves. I want a gold standard for our country since it is a just measure of wealth."
Good points, but I would stress the foreign aid differential...
Yes, we would be cutting off foreign aid to Israel, but we would also be cutting off aid to the nations which surround Israel. These nations collectively receive THREE TIMES the amount of foreign aid that Israel receives...
I agree. He could probably mention Egypt.
I agree. He could probably mention Egypt. I think they receive aid on parity with the Israeli’s. This is a quagmire though since many of these people are so unduly influenced in this area.
I agree. He could probably mention Egypt.
Sorry double post.
The Bible
Look in your Bible and find the many passages (especially in the psalms) that exalts a man of peace, but especially those that condemn violent men, intent on war and bloodshed.
Yes, defiantly. Also: The sermon on the mount in Mathew
Yes, defiantly. Also: The sermon on the mount in Mathew where the Lord Jesus said: “Blessed are the peacemakers..”
Focus on Negatives of Mike Huckabee
Seriously, this guy looks way more viable than Paul at this point, and really appeals to Christians. We have to go after him if we have any hope of doing well in Christian states.
Huckabee's record speaks for
Huckabee's record speaks for itself. No need to attack on grounds of 'who's better Christian'. That's not how Dr. Paul would do it.
Inspiration for christians and others
For me dr. Ron Paul (Im from Poland) is very very like John *PAUL* II.
John PAUL II :
- constantly was doing what he belived (was Christian and acted like Christian) like dr Paul who is libertarian and always voted what he belived.
- had life with hard work - like dr Paul
- never defeated
- had no army and was a winner becouse of moral strength
- protested againt war (in Iraq and others)
- talked with enemies and then they changed - Castro, Gorbaczow etc..
- young people loved him
- he was a inspiration for Poles fight with communism like dr Paul inspires Americans fight for their country
- he was against NWO
-he always was saying about freedom of man and about individual man rights
etc etc
And I think: We Poles had J. Paul II who helped us *belive* that we can had free country. And beliving is the first step. And your "Paul" is Ron Paul (this name coincidens is amazing) and he inspire you to save your constitution and your freedom. Google Jahn Paul II and just copy paste and you will have the very same things they both said: no violence, and constantly do your job, never compromise with your moral etc.
And young people loved him becouse he was doing what he was saying - he was a proof for his words. And he didnt offer "easy way" becouse freedom means responsibility. So he demanded from young people resposibility for themself and for others too.
So do Ron Paul, isnt he?
And the most important is that in Poland JPII didnt fight communism - people did it. So *you* have to win. Its all about you.
And world is watching you :-)
I think you should talk more what kind of person is dr Paul.
History of his life. His family. His work. Character etc. He is great father, husband, doctor, soldier, christian, represents people etc. etc. Ofc his platform is very important but people always talk about candidates "how nice persons they are" And he is like diamond when you compare to others...
Use it.
In Poland we say "We are generation JPII" .
You are generation Ron Paul.
So google "John Paul II communism Poland" and be inspired.
(I hope my "english" didnt spoil the message)
Hillary supported starvation deaths
During Clinton's regime, over 500,000 Iraqi children died of diarrhea because the neocons didn't think Iraqis needed chlorine to purify their drinking water. Pentagon papers reveal that this was a deliberate act.

Statement of faith

Hold them to their oath:
President
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
---"Christianity has not been weighed in the balances and found wanting. It’s being tried, found difficult, and rejected!" - Leonard Ravenhill---
Focus on Positives of Ron Paul
Make sure to mention his honesty and consistent voting record which proves his integrity. Also, make sure to mention he is a PRO LIFE Baptist who has delivered over 4000 babies as an OB Dr. Focus on illegal immigration there too. All the Christians I talk to know Huckabee is not to be trusted. I would suggest finding out if there is any Christian events happening, big concerts, Christian skate night. Then you will have an easier time actually talking to Christians about Huckabee. Call the local Christian radio stations to find out what events are happening, better yet put a radio ad on the Christian stations.
Great thinking
there are some Christian talk shows too- Call them up. Also often people go out to eat or invite others over, go with them. Invite people over yourself after church -we have, and it was fun.

DITCH THE PREACHER MAN

The fact that the media are toadying up to president wanna-be Mike Huckabee should tell you all you need to know.
He is not, never has been, nor will he suddenly turn into, a statesman who will get the United States back on a constitutional track.
The media have for one reason only blessed Mike Huckabee; and it has nothing to do with his profession of faith in the Nazarene. Media have anointed him a ‘frontrunner’ despite his profession of Christian beliefs.
The reason is, Mike Huckabee embraces enough big-government, left-leaning socialist policies and ideology that his Christianity can be forgiven him by a press corps decidedly hostile to all that honors Providence.
The former Arkansas governor never met an illegal alien he did not want to wrap in social services. Huckabee thinks those who break and enter here instead of going through the legally defined channels should receive prenatal care, reduced college tuition and all the perks taxpayers can bundle up and hand over. He also liked giving the Mexican government a taxpayer subsidized place to lobby for more perks from Arkansans. In fact, Mike Huckabee thinks if you are against amnesty and guest worker programs, you are likely under bondage to the sin of racism. A recent poll taken by the group Americans for Legal Immigration showed 65% oppose Huckabee’s amnesty plan allowing illegals to return to their country for a day and then come back into the U.S. legally. Only 10% of those polled approved of his so-called ‘touch-back’ plan, better known as amnesty dressed up as ‘immigration reform’.
Mike thinks God’s earth ought to be more ‘green.’ He’s bought into the cars-cause-the- earth’s -temperatures –to-fluctuate- hoax and wants our government to join in the rush to crush free enterprise, private property and liberty in order to cool things down.
Huckabee thinks government is your momma. While governor, he supported laws to ban pregnant women from smoking and laws mandating schoolchildren be weighed for obesity.
These state-level policy decisions are among the reasons the media can forgive Governor Huckabee his Christian-ness; after all, what media outlet doesn’t love that ‘more-is-better’ approach to the federal government’s role.
It should be clear; those who subscribe to a constitutionally sound political ideology could not support Huckabee for president the way they could support Congressman Ron Paul.
Mike Huckabee is no Ron Paul, not only because of the governor’s relentless pursuit of the nanny-state, but because he has struggled with the sin of greed while serving the public. By now, reports have surfaced about how he accepted cash, suits, gold jewelry and other items just barely squeezing by the law, and how he gave political appointments to people who gave him cool stuff. Then there was the downright tacky gift-grab he attempted when he registered for house wares at local department stores when he and his wife were moving out of the governor’s mansion. You just cannot make this stuff up.
On a more serious, actually, a deadly note, Huckabee supported the invasion of Iraq, even after he acknowledged the justification for that war was bogus. He also does not discount pre-emptive war against Iran.
Just what we need- another president who will swear to uphold the Constitution and then turn around and disregard that business in Article I Section 8 that says something about who can declare war and for what reasons.
Huckabee’s lying about a theology degree, his pardon of a convict who went on to rape and murder a woman, his defense of evolution (though he doesn’t “believe” the theory he thinks school children should be taught it as truth), are some of the reasons we should question his judgment and his character. However, many will say, “it doesn’t matter, he’s a good man, a born again Christian and we need a Christian in the White House.”
These are the same people who voted for George W. Bush. Twice. The same people who continue to defend GW today, because… “He’s a Christian”… All the while a staunch, limited government, classically conservative, constitutionalist Christian candidate named Ron Paul bobs and weaves beneath the radar getting no endorsements from the big name “Christians” or their followers.
Where were the followers of Jesus when Ambassador Alan Keyes ran for president?
The time has come to look beyond the labels, ignoring the talk and focusing on the walk. Neither of the parties in charge in D.C. will offer up a sound constitutionalist for president (barring a miraculous Ron Paul candidacy). However, we can be part of a second American revolution, which upends the political status quo and declares support for a third party candidate. Otherwise we may watch “Christians” elect another enemy of the Constitution. For now, I find myself praying:
“God, save us from your people.”

Catholics
If you want to reach the Catholics, there are some good points on Catholics for Ron Paul, which is a part of this site. Focus on the pro-life and anti-war aspects of Ron Paul's platform. Catholic teaching is very much against any war that does not fit the criteria of St. Augustine's just war theory, aka "traditional Christian just war theory" that RP has talked about. Also, I agree that all Christians need to wake up about the CFR and the UN and their anti Christian agenda because until they do they will always just vote for the "pro-life" candidate who seems to be the lesser of two evils. I know because until I woke up I did the same thing.
