What have you done to prepare yourself for the coming economic meltdown? Help others on this forum. Tell them what you have done.Have you relocated to the country? Stored food?

The difference between then and now
My parents also remember the "Great Depression". The difference between then and now is pretty dramatic. In the 20s and 30s, there were fewer people .All of those people were self sufficient already. There was no welfare, no social security. People were used to taking care of themselves. The population was much more rural, and a lot of families had garden plots that supplemented the food on the table. Now, we have 300 million people, very few of which are self-sufficient. The population is much more urban, therefore no garden plots, and they panic when there power goes out for a couple of hours. These people have been trained since birth that they will be taken care of, that food will always be available in the grocery store, etc. Do you remember the scenes from Katrina? Imagine that on a much larger scale all over the country, including the part about law enforcement disappearing and leaving you on your own. I would strongly urge you to have food, water, toilet paper, arms and ammunition stashed away. If the situation unravels at all, it's likely to unravel all the way. Better to be prepared for a disaster that never comes, then to be unprepared for a disaster of this magnitude.
Moving to Japan
Well I will be moving to Japan this summer to live near my wife's parents. As such, guess all my monney will move out of the dollar market and into the crummy yen market. Yet, I am well diversified so I am not worried.

They are all armor clad maniacs carrying machine guns. They draft these guys from asylums for the criminally insane. You wouldn't have the guts to draw your little pea shooter. You'll piss your pants when they break down your door at 3:00AM screaming and yelling like a bunch of wild indians. Then they'll kill you and your whole family (just for the fun of it) and enjoy every minute of it. Their report they will say that although they were at the wrong address, they had an anonymous tip that you may be a Ron Paul supporter. Plus, you were all resisting arrest for for asking for a warrant. They will even taze your bleeding dead bodies. Then they will investigate the incident and absolve themselves of all wrongdoing. They will all get promotions and medals for bravery. The matter will be forgotten. The public will say, "serves those Paulites right." The sheeple will yawn and go back to sleep. Incident over. Just another day in the NWO.
One has to have the killer instinct to pull the trigger on another human. Do you have what it would take? Instead of using your weapon for only self defense. are you willing to to hunt down and shoot the enemy in cold blood like they would do to you? If not, use you money for a new video game console.

A story ...
My father used to tell me stories that his father told him .. long LONG time ago .. It was the great depression they talked about ... but the moral of the stories were that as long as possess the land, the actual means of survival is yours ... Its the land, not the shiny car or the big house or even the blocks of gold.
Its the land that grows the food that keeps you from starving. Its the land that grows the trees that keep you from freezing ...
Both my grandfathers were farmers and neither of them fared poorly during the great depression. A lot of their associates however were not as fortunate... Sitting down to dinner was more of a community event than it is today.
This time could be worse. Our entire means of production has been exported. People are busying themselves packing up what little is left.
For what?
There still is a lot of open land ... You just have to know where to look and be willing to take the trip.
My only consession to the 21st century would be in the form of solar panels ... Gonna get me some of those ... and a few extra boxes of ammo just in case :)

...it holds much wisdom and truth. People will be surprised after 2009 when land and food will be the only worthwhile things to have. Gold and sliver will be thrown out in the streets as trash( this will happen!) A pound bar of gold (which is 12 troy ounces) will not buy a loaf of bread.
