“I was detained by Portland PD officer J McDonald on 26MAY2012. He detains me without suspicion of any criminal activity in violation of Delaware v Prouse. He admits his sole reason for stopping me is my legally carried firearm in violation of US v DeBerry. He seizes my weapon with no reasonable suspicion that I’ve committed a crime in violation of Terry v Ohio. He demands my ID without reasonable suspicion in violation of Hiibel v Nevada.”

Do say "I know my rights"

Demonstrate that you know your rights. This is so awesome.

Precious, formidable LAW ENFORCEMENT.

Precious.

Now law abiding citizens have no other choice but to teach ...

LAW ENFORCEMENT about the laws they're paid to enforce.

Formidable.

Oh, it's Portland MAINE,,,

...I was going to say.. citizens of Portland Oregon would call the cops on you if they saw you carrying around a CARTOON of a gun!

Bump It!

Open Carry is dangerous when done alone. The law is whatever the cops say it is. (You may be legally correct but you may have to wait for your lawsuit or criminal trial to set the record straight). Open carry is best done in groups.

lol

lol

Agreed!

It certainly would be better practiced in groups.

How about a group called

"humans?"
When I moved west from Ohio, men still literally rode a horse to town and had a sidearm at all times - they were cowboys. Real ones. Kids had guns in the trucks they drove to school - they were going hunting right after class. You could not swing a dead cat without hitting someone "packing heat." And ya' know what? Everyone was very polite.

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

Bump..

Keep thread alive..

Bump..

Keep on truckin..

I think the open carrier was

I think the open carrier was unnecessarily confrontational and arrogant.

"A true competitor wants their opponent at their best." Lao Tzu

unnecessarily?

the way i see it he did not consent to any search or seizure yet the police officer "seized" his firearm and who here thinks while he was talking to the first officer the second officer did not run the serial number on that gun making it an illegal "Search" at 2:07

"he did not consent to any

"he did not consent to any search or seizure yet the police officer "seized" his firearm"

So if a maniac is running down the street with a gun shouting, "death to America," a cop should stop and politely ask them whether or not they consent to a search and seizure?

My point was that the person in the video acted unnecessarily arrogant and pompous, not that the officer didn't do anything wrong. The whole situation could have been resolved faster if the civilian wasn't intent on shooting a YouTube video.

I can see you've been a member over three years. I appreciate your support of Dr. Paul, but you seriously need to read some of the founder's thoughts on the 2nd Amendment.

How does my observation that

How does my observation that the guy was overly confrontational reflect on any understanding of the 2nd amendment? He has every right in the world to carry the gun and to refuse to answer the cops question. He also has the freedom to act like an asshole; which he did. That was my observation.

Someone exercising their

Someone exercising their right to be an asshole is not cause for a policeman to take his gun. I know you are going to attack me on semantics, but its what all those people who gave you negative votes thought you were implying.

you are the typical sheep and

you are the typical sheep and the poster child of an American for why this nation is in the position it is in.

And you are a simpleminded

And you are a simpleminded vainglorious sycophant incapable of articulating an intellectual counter-argument because you are confined within a mental sphere absent of all objectivity and skepticism making you incapable of in-depth critical thinking and finding nothing but confirmation bias among only the conspiracy infused partisans, so you resort to ad hominem personal attacks.

A maniac

with a gun is totally different. You try to blur the lines like all the cops that killed people who should not have been killed. There was no maniac running down a street. There is no similarity here.

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!

bullshit

a non issue..the guy has every right you freak to open carry if you dont like the law get it changed in the mean time move on.

Unnecessarily Arrogant Maybe

First of all (a maniac is running down the street with a gun shouting, "death to America,") this scenario I did not see played out in the video but as far as the persons Arrogance I will agree with you things could have diffidently been handled differently on both parts. That being said the issue I have with the video is immediately the cop’s reaction is to seize the firearm knowing it is not illegal. The camera mans attitude didn’t seem to get Arrogant until the illegal seizure was performed. So not knowing the whole situation ie. Prior to the start of the recording or the person’s body language what proximity his hand was to the firearm or whether he was making provocative movements or motions towards his firearm.
I would have to side with the right to open carry a firearm and not be required to produce "papers" or ID however you want to state it. I believe in this country its constitution and 2nd amendment.

"That being said the issue I

I agree with everything you said.

This should be

the OFFICIAL TRAINING VIDEO FOR OPEN CARRY.

Note that laws may differ regarding ID depending on what state you are in.

Bump it up!

keep commenting folks...This is so important

NICE!!!

Good job, bravery was also commendable!

AWESOME!

Good job man! It takes a lot of guts to stand up to the man.

Yes

The people need to be informed that its not illegal. And, the cops ought to stop pacifying them, telling the Scaredy Pants "the way it is".

Good video!
