Are you paying attention to Syria?
Submitted by jetguy on Sat, 06/23/2012 - 15:45As most of you realize, Syria is one of the seven countries that General Wesley Clark mentioned we intended to take over. In order to do that we need an excuse, of course. And the best excuse is a civil war.
The "rebels" are being supplied by proxies in the form of Saudi Arabia and Yemen through holes in the Syria / Turkey border, while the press continues to tell us what an evil man Assad is, as if this is all spontaneous.
Thank goodness Russia is dragging its feet. It has good reason because of a Russian military base, but the world is putting pressure on Russia because, dammit, when the US wants to take someone over, we don't want anyone to stand in our way.
This afternoon I checked on RT.com and saw that Syria was already apologizing for shooting down a Turkish plane. I found that curious, as I hadn't even heard that a plane had gone down. And the plane was an obsolete F-4 Phantom.
But now the story unfolds with all the drama intended. NOW slowly it is coming into the MSM - first "For unexplained reasons a Turkish plane crashed." (Even though Syria has already apologized that is not dramatic enough. This must be properly built up.)
BBC, CNN and ABC are all reporting that Turkey lost contact with the plane and nobody knows what happened. (Oh the suspense is killing me.)
Later of course it will come out that mean, vicious, mad-dog Assad, shot down this obsolete plane that entered Syrian airspace. Given that Turkey is a member of NATO and Assad has every reason to fear a NATO attack, it shouldn't be surprising that he shot down the plane.
But of course NATO IS a mutual defense alliance - therefore soon claims will come in that NATO is justified in attacking Syria as it is eventually realized (with suspense built in) that Syria shot down the plane.
This is such ridiculous theater.
The US wants Syria and another war and NOBODY is going to stop it.

Russia is already helping Syrian Government
Right now, as it stand, the US is supporting the rebels and Russia is supporting the regime. That makes us clear and defined enemies.

Do you remember all the different variations of the story regarding th killing of Bin Lauden before they finally settled on one. In one version Binn Lauden grabbed his wife and used her as a human shield firing bullets back. Until finally it was admitted that there weren't even any guns in the house.
In Iraq we heard that Iraqi soldiers were throwing babies on the floor from incubators, until it was admitted that that was made up. (Ooops.)
Russia is simply insisting on adherance to international law to allow the people to make their OWN regime change if, indeed, they want one.
The US is complaining about Russia supposedly supplying arms to Assad while gving them to the rebels, themselves.

These arms are "paid for" by Quatar and Saudi Arabia and are flowing across the Turkish border to Syria.
