Executive Order to continue presidency?

Does the president have the authority to extend his presidency by executive order during war-time?

Syria has shot down a Turkish jet. Also, there was a news blip about North and South Korea.

I've got an uneasy feeling about what's coming next.

But neither do they have the authority to do most of the things they do.
It's not the authority, it's the raw power, with nobody really able to challenge because of the rampant corruption.
This really is a runaway train, and it won't have a happy ending.
