PHOENIX - Authorities say a man is expected to recover after he was shot by a 14-year-old boy Friday.
Phoenix police Officer James Holmes said the teen was home with his 8, 10 and 12-year-old siblings when a woman started knocking on the door.
The 14-year-old did not recognize her so he didn't answer the door of the home near 55th Avenue and Baseline Road.
A short time later a man started knocking on the door and again the boy refused to answer the door.
Holmes said the youngster then went upstairs with his siblings and retrieved a handgun.
As the boy returned to the top of the stairs, the man broke through the door and pointed a gun at him.
The boy fired his weapon, striking the suspect.
The 14-year-old called his parents and ran with his siblings to a neighbor's home.

Now that's some real good shooting there boy, that's what I call "real" gun control, when you can hit your target.
Too bad the criminal will live to see another day, likely to repeat his performance.
Now, What was his motive? What if this was a home full of young girls? When are those "do-gooders" that hate guns ever going to see the light, that there is a time a place where guns are necessary.
Every time I see an article where a gun was used to prevent a crime, I realize that our founding fathers were very wise men.
Thanks to Jefferson, Franklin, Madison, and many others for your insights into human behavior. Moms, don't forget to teacher your daughters how to handle a gun (if Dad isn't around)...It might be more useful than knowing how to bake brownies one day.

It takes a lot of courage to stand up against an adult, much less an intruder, in order to protect his siblings. Glad they are OK.
