That summed up everything I learned in the past 5 years in just 14 min.

The Professional Libertarian

There is a good point in this video that I think we all can learn from. That is the debate about why people are getting degrees that don't help them become productive. I think this has more to do with our culture rather than the government or the private sector. The media is filled with reports regarding people that are rich because they are famous. The number one goal in some people's lives is to become famous so they can make money and/or lecture a listening audience on why they should follow a certain ideology.

You can see this in our movement as well. We have professional libertarians who make their money with speaking fees, blogs, and youtube videos. The money that comes into their bank accounts is based on how popular they are in our movement rather than having a plausible proficiency. They have no actual skills that are productive in the labor force. Ron and Rand Paul we're both doctors, Schiff is someone who can help you with your investments; so they don't fall into this category. Others do.

I have no idea how to solve this problem. I just want to point out that our difficulties with the liberal artist, the theoretical economist, the sociologist, the historian...etc are everywhere, and that includes us too. It is a cancer that is driving unemployment into uncharted territories. I, personally, will make a promise today to condemn this behavior by not purchasing any material from any libertarian who has never had a job that contributes to the viability of the economy. This is a personal choice.

Why, why, why?

Couldn't the Ron Paul team get Peter Schiff on stage with Dr. Paul for a few lectures (media events) for business leadership councils on the campaign trail? It's all about credibility of the subject matter. With people only hearing Dr. Paul expouse on his views, the corporate media easily drowns out his voice, but, if you reinforce the message with learned people, it starts to take root. Dr. Paul needed some "teammates" to battle the RNC, and the campaign didn't get 'er done.

If that's all it took to change the country...

Don't you understand that you can have a rally of thousands, and they are still a drop in the bucket? This is a country of millions of people, and this is a marathon, not a sprint.

There can be moments in history where the country turns on a dime, but it almost always is brought about by someone putting a voice to something they were ready to do, anyway, as when Walter Cronkite (popular news anchor--look him up) finally came out against the Viet Nam war on national TV (back when there were 3 stations and his was the most popular).

Since this educational job is so big, it is futile to pin your hopes on a few appearances by Peter and Dr. Paul. We all need to help.

The first exposure to the

The first exposure to the truth for a lot of these knuckleheads. It's not as if the MSM regularly provides economic analysis like Schiff brings it. They're still laughing at the obvious. They'll need to hear a lot more of this before they start getting a clue.

Actually, Peter has hit all

Actually, Peter has hit all of these hot points many times in other forums and at least he's putting a consistent point of view out there. I've seen a few of the other folks speak before also. I do not know for certain, but this looks like one of those debates where the speakers are ultimately selling newsletters or books or some kind of service or subscription... The point is that people do not attend lengthy debates without recognizing some value from it. In Peter's case, he sells books and investment services, I don't know what the other folks are selling. Perhaps they are collecting speaking fees?

People attend lengthy debates all the time in the DC area

Any given night there's one at the library, one at the bookstore, one at the press club and one at the CFR and many others. It makes intellectuals feel smart to gather and agree with each other about how smart they are. The Atlantic is a journal and it's part of their show to present an intellectual face. I think people show up for ego stroking and a meal.

I can say with almost

I can say with almost metaphysical certitude that either newsletters or books were for sale at this event.

started to cut his mic. This only caused an echo but enough to add to the dissonance of the blind human mind.. Unfortunate that only people like us understand what he was saying..

and a mic near a coughing guy.. Unprofessional..

It's CSPAN - essentially a

It's CSPAN - essentially a government operation. What level of professionalism did you expect?

Be glad it's as good as it is.

"Obama’s Economists: ‘Stimulus’ Has Cost $278,000 per Job."

That means: For each job "created or saved" about five were destroyed.

Here is Krugman and his "Nobel advice" for how to get out of the mess we are in (this is hard to watch guys n gals) he rags on the gold standard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW2UeoYWl3E

"It’s not pessimistic, brother, because this is the blues. We are blues people. The blues aren’t pessimistic. We’re prisoners of hope but we tell the truth and the truth is dark. That’s different."

Peter should join with Gary

Peter should join with Gary Johnson and run as vice president. That would be epic.

I like Peter, but I'm

I like Peter, but I'm thinking he has no interest in a position like that. He unsuccessfully ran for Senator (?) before and I think he works best as a gadfly anyway.

Epic Betrayal

....actually, in thinking about it, if that kind of *deal* was made, it would explain a lot of things.

Pissed at Schiff

I worked hard on his campaign here in CT. How dare he endorse Johnson already. Timing.

Colchester, New London County, Connecticut

Peter Schiff said that if Ron

Peter Schiff said that if Ron Paul was on the ticket for president or vice president, he would switch his endorsement.

"We don't need a Department of Energy; we need a Department of Freedom" - RP
"We need to defend liberty.. and liberty!" - RP

Peter Cares

Peter is afraid that if Ron Paul is elected, he will be blamed for the collapse. This is a timing issue, because I think he hoped in 2008 there was still time to head it off, but now there isn't.

I don't think you can blame him when he's done more to support Ron Paul publicly than almost anyone.
