Is it conceivable that RP could be the VP choice of GJ?

It would rally all of us who say "RP is my 1st choice but GJ is my fallback". It would also bring RP back into the mix and essentially being on the ballot in all 50 states. I'm not sure how it works to get a candidate into the debates but I remember hearing something about 15%. If GJ and RP team up, I would think they could get the support to be in the debates. GJ could easily say "I'm going to let RP dictate the policies where we disagree (e.g. abortion) because freedom is worth that". All GJ would have to say is "states' rights issue" anyway.

I know I'm going to be down-voted because everyone (myself very much included) wants RP at the top of the ticket. But just as a fallback in case RP doesn't get the nomination, could you imagine the hype around that ticket? It would be like RP saying "I'M BAAAAAACK!!!" to the GOP that railroaded him at every turn. Who cares what the GOP says they're going to try to do about Rand (e.g. "if Ron runs 3rd party then we'll do everything we can to hurt Rand's chances down the road"). The truth is that the GOP and the entire country will look drastically different in 4 years anyway (I'm making the assumption that we will have an economic collapse by then) so the "old rules" set by the establishment won't apply anyway.

No. Take a hike and take the other scurge with you.

Libertarian Party Choice for VP

The Libertarian Party chooses the VP. He is Judge Gray.

Dr. Paul chose to work within the GOP. All the media buzz about a 3rd party run was designed to discredit him among the GOP voters.

Ventura prefers selling books and hanging out on the beach in MX rather than running for office. Besides, he would never take VP, his ego would require the lead position or nothing.

Ventura is stumping for GJ... but at the same time he promotes his book. Throwing in a few words for GJ aids in supporting his story line. Truthfully, his first objective is book sales.

Gary already tapped Jim Gray,

Gary already tapped Jim Gray, the anti-drug war judge from California. Excellent choice.

I think Ron Paul was very upset that Gary Johnson entered the race even though he himself had not committed and even though Gary went to him personally for his blessing. I don't think he will endorse Gary, even though he should, let alone accept an invitation as VP because apparently he felt very threatened, maybe even betrayed that Gary would launch his own run. Yet Gary didn't think Ron was running. Who did? Not even Rand did for sure. I think Rand convinced his father to run. It's a shame they probably won't get together, but it is what it is. I think Gary would have loved to offer him the position, just as he would have loved to have been picked as Ron Paul's VP.

Johnson did not choose Gray.

The LP convention did.

The LP doesn't do it like the GOP or the Dems.

The VP nomination is separate, but they do allow for losers of the Presidential nomination to vie for the spot if they choose.

I'm pretty sure you're

I'm pretty sure you're incorrect about that. All of the news articles I've read that said that Johnson chose Gray.

Jesse Ventura seems to be positioning himself as a VP choice...

for Gary Johnson on the LP ticket. I think he'll help the LP tremendously if he tag teams with Gary Johnson.

As for now, I'm keeping my eye on the prize-- The Republican Nomination. Let's see what happens in the GOP once the dust settles August.

The LP ticket already has a VP.

People are so clueless on here.

Oh my bad...who's the VP? I

Oh my bad...who's the VP? I didn't know it was already chosen.

Update...
got it, it's Judge Gray.

Yeah, I agree

I don't particularly appreciate the campaigning via carefully worded phrases by the GJ crowd when we are still in the battle for RP. This is RP's time, and RP is who I will be writing in if not on the ballot. I do wish the GJ pple would go back to their own website. After this election cycle I will take a look at the man, but definitely not now, so please just stop it.

Maybe the other way around.

Maybe the other way around. Ron Paul president and GJ as VP.

Someone told me...

That GJ had already named a VP....?

Johnson didn't name him.

He was chosen by the delegates in convention already.

Yep - Judge Gray

His pick is Judge Gray.

No Johnson has a completely different views on war

and so many other things they are completely different.
Ron Paul is the one with all the support.

I would go so far as to say

I would go so far as to say they are identical.

COMPLETELY different?

I think that's stretching it, a lot.

Bring the Troops Home

AMERICAN MILITARY ACTIVITIES IN AFGHANISTAN SHOULD END, our troops returned home, and the focus of our foreign policy reoriented toward the protection of U.S. citizens and interests.

With Osama bin Laden now killed and after 10 years of fighting, U.S. forces should leave Afghanistan's challenges to the Afghan people.
Decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union, American troops remain scattered throughout Europe. It is time to reevaluate these deployments.
The U.S. must make better use of military alliances which allow greater sharing of the human and financial burdens at less cost of protecting national interests.

#2
Lead By Example

AMERICA CAN ACHIEVE OUR FOREIGN POLICY GOALS without sacrificing American values.

No criminal or terrorist suspect captured by the U.S. should be subject to physical or psychological torture.
Individuals incarcerated unjustly by the U.S. should have the ability to seek compensation through the courts.
Individuals detained by the U.S., whether it be at Guantanamo Bay or elsewhere, must be given due process via the courts or military tribunals, and must not be held indefinitely without regard to those fundamental processes.

Is newly minted Libertarian Gary Johnson an antiwar candidate or

a hawk The Daily Caller tries to pin him down.

While Johnson positions himself as a strong anti-war candidate who wants to cut the defense budget by 43 percent, he told TheDC that he supports America’s efforts to aid African troops in tracking down Lord’s Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony and that he wouldn’t rule out leaving behind American bases in Afghanistan.

Johnson said that while he wants to end the war in Afghanistan, that doesn’t mean he would necessarily stop drone attacks against terrorists in Pakistan or Yemen, even though he believes they create more enemies than they kill.

Johnson was relatively dovish on Iran but repeated his openness to humanitarian interventions abroad: “I don’t want to close the door that if any of us were president of the United States that we would sit idly by and watch something like the Holocaust go down.” Johnson also signaled that some presence in the Middle East might be necessary.

Now, there is nothing wrong with being selective in the use of military force. Being involved everywhere or nowhere may be consistent, but it isn't necessarily a sound foreign policy. Yet it is difficult to discern an overarching strategy or philosophy here that would influence or dictate when the United States would intervene. Back when Johnson was still running as a Republican, I noted that he was at a disadvantage against Ron Paul because he was less conservative on social issues and less radical on the issues of war and peace that drive Paul's libertarian base.

After the way the GJ people

After the way the GJ people have pushed and shoved their candidate at us here on the DP, with no respect whatsoever that we still are trying to win the nomination for Dr. Paul, and by installing GJ as a speaker at a festival that was originally intended to honor Dr. Paul where Johnson states he plans to campaign with his time there, you couldn't PAY me enough to vote for GJ. Not a friggin' snowball's chance in hell.

Blessings )o(

You sound like a neocon Republican

Refusing to support GJ due to the enthusiasm and "rude" behavior of his supporters?

Sound familiar? Oh yeah. Like a neocon Republican who refuses to support Ron Paul due to the enthusiasm and "rude" behavior of his supporters.

Nice job.
