Is it conceivable that RP could be the VP choice of GJ?Submitted by kevink on Wed, 06/27/2012 - 19:51
It would rally all of us who say "RP is my 1st choice but GJ is my fallback". It would also bring RP back into the mix and essentially being on the ballot in all 50 states. I'm not sure how it works to get a candidate into the debates but I remember hearing something about 15%. If GJ and RP team up, I would think they could get the support to be in the debates. GJ could easily say "I'm going to let RP dictate the policies where we disagree (e.g. abortion) because freedom is worth that". All GJ would have to say is "states' rights issue" anyway.
I know I'm going to be down-voted because everyone (myself very much included) wants RP at the top of the ticket. But just as a fallback in case RP doesn't get the nomination, could you imagine the hype around that ticket? It would be like RP saying "I'M BAAAAAACK!!!" to the GOP that railroaded him at every turn. Who cares what the GOP says they're going to try to do about Rand (e.g. "if Ron runs 3rd party then we'll do everything we can to hurt Rand's chances down the road"). The truth is that the GOP and the entire country will look drastically different in 4 years anyway (I'm making the assumption that we will have an economic collapse by then) so the "old rules" set by the establishment won't apply anyway.
