Judge Andrew Napolitano told Fox News that small government libertarians who have so far refused to throw their support behind Mitt Romney will now do so as a result of yesterday’s Supreme Court decision to uphold Obamacare.

What's your opinion DP?

The judge might be wrong, but
The judge might be wrong, but he is not crazy. Romney will certainly try to use Obamacare as a rallying point for conservatives. (He violently despises libertarians.) Whether it actually gets more people to leave the couch and vote against Obama, or whether it merely dilutes the "economy stupid" message remains to be seen. All we can be sure of is that if either Obama or Romney wins, Liberty loses.

Even with Obamacare
being upheld, I seriously can't see many "small government" people flocking to Romney as he is basically the father of Obamacare, and represents big government and spending on the level of Obama. Anyone who dislikes Romney already probably won't change their minds because of this.
I just watched the video in
I just watched the video in the link...he doesn't say Libertarians, he says "Conservatives...small government people". Say what you will about the definitions of those, but this article bothers me(the one in the link). It seems to link that because he mentioned that "people he knows are beside themselves" that Libertarians are going to vote for Romney because the Judge said so.
Look for example "added Napolitano, who is seen as a leading light amongst libertarians who rail against big government intrusion." It's all in implication that is being placed upon it by the writer.
I am a ONE issue voter ...
... and my one issue ain't health care.
My issue is this: Will you make REAL and SUBSTANTIAL cuts in government spending and federal government power -- and can I believe you are being honest if you say yes -- or not?
THAT is the only issue that matters.
I don't care what your tax "policy" is.
I don't care what your health care "policy" is.
I don't care what you think about gay marriage.
I don't care what your favorite color is.
Will you make REAL and SUBSTANTIAL cuts to government spending -- on the order of one trillion dollars the FIRST year, or not? And can I believe you if you say yes?
I don't care if you are running for president, senator, congressman, or chief dog catcher.
Just f**k the the bullsh*t. Save it for someone who is not paying attention.
Answer my question, and give me EVIDENCE of why I should believe you ... or YOU CAN FORGET IT. Period.
I respect your one issue
As a committee meber, I vote your issue as you please, because I agree with you. If Romney is president, I've got power at my seat to do that. If Obama wins, I don't.
I do affect local and state issues and candidaites getting on the ballot. May I suggest you get on your central committee and work with me?

The judge is correct ...
My family is Libertarian leaning republicans and have said that due to this ruling, they are now willing to vote for Romney if he turns out to be the nominee at the convention. I am actually starting to think the same way in that I will accept incremental steps towards my beliefs over losing everything I believe in an all or nothing battle. If the hard core portion of the liberty movement wish to reject and alienate people that share that belief then in my mind they are no better than the GOP they are raging against for doing the same thing. I have been reading the daily paul since it began and in the last month or so I have been made to feel unwelcome. I know I am not the only one.
correct
For whatever reason, and for whatever outcome hoped for, real or not, the Judge is correct. Certainly not ALL, but some libertarians, like JamesM76, will be driven to Romney. Napolitano is also not claiming a preference, but an estimation of general sentiment. In another context Napolitano might expressly predict that some libertarians, like me [and probably himself], will not be driven to Romney.
Incidently, I bear no prejudice or malice toward JamesM76 for his leanings or rationale. We ALL act in our self-interest. We don't all have identical interests. I enjoyed JamesM76's comment, I enjoy his presence here at the DP, and I enjoy being his ally in support of RP and Liberty.

I think the Judge is smart enough to know
Romney gives power to the Ron Paul Republicans, while voting for Obama, Third or Indy removes that power and then you have No one stopping the elimination of the Constitution.

Ok, but ..
... in what way will Romney move you CLOSER to your goal?
Notice, I am not asking if you think he will move you AWAY from your goal at a SLIGHTLY SLOWER RATE than Obama.
I am asking what EVIDENCE you have that he will move you CLOSER to your goal.
If you do not have such evidence (I sure don't), then you are working against your own best interests in supporting him.
Empowers me on my central committee
It cools the Neoliberals assult as it empowers Ron paul Republicans seated on Central committees.
Obama wins, then we face two harsh fronts, Democrats and angry Neocons. I don't know how liong I could take the abuse.
Romney win, I've only one harsh front, Democrats, and a comittee willing to listen.

A game on inches ...
Romney now claims some ideals that I do agree with, where I don't agree with any policies that Obama has claimed. I know Romney's record of flip-flopping, I am not making this difficult decision in the dark. However, I rather have him on the record and oppose him later if/when he violates those ideals then allow Obama to have a second term where he doesn't have to devote resources to reelection and has an entrenched administration. Up to the recent decision, the above still wasn't enough for me to consider Romney ... I was just going to write in Ron Paul like I did in 2008 ... but the idea of what has just passed is the worst hit to liberty in nearly 100 years. I am not willing to rely on a miracle to undo it. As the judge said, this was the only means I would even consider voting Romney for 2012, but that doesn't mean my beliefs changed or I am going to be some sort of Romney Yes-Man.
I am not arrogant enough to say that our entire movement must think this way. I actually admire those that are going to stay the course, but that doesn’t mean those like Rand Paul, Jack Hunter, The Judge, or even a nobody like me are traitors to this movement. Nor are we fair-weather patriots … you all should know the looks, comments, bias, and all the other crap we have to put up with just for our libertarian beliefs.
I am going to be there in lock-step with you guys till the Tampa convention, but after that I will have to do what I think best to preserve as much liberty as I can.
I strongly disagree and I hope I'm right.
Any small government Libertarian who thinks ROMNEY is the answer is no small government Libertarian.
Thsy are establishment republican party hacks.
I WILL NEVER vote for Romney.
I'm writing in Ron Paul all the way.
"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul
Have people lost their minds?
If Obama or Mitt Romney are elected there won't be another fucking term, they will stay in power forever, the dhs just ordered 450 rounds of hollow points for domestic use, go follow Hitler's history to the rise of power and he even he made a very similar program for healthcare, T4, its gets disgusting as the two both had many goals in common, look at the asshole jack hunter, he is trying to divide us with bilderberg conspiracy, we know its true, we are awake for this stuff, but they will always beat us when we allow our emotions like fear, anger, apathy, anxiety to take over us, that's how they control us,
The power elite lack emotion that's why their starting take hold of the movement, You must separate your anger and passion from your words, yes we have every right to be angry with them, but look at Dr.Paul, every time he talks he never lets his emotions get him, control your emotions and you will control the world, People need to get their shit together, it's becoming dangerous ever increasingly in the nation, even Canadians know better than many Americans here as to what's really going on
RON PAUL 2012!
Uhhhh, Nope
Not gonna do it...
They ignore, they laugh, they fight, we win.
I give up..
Im just sitting out. If Americans arent smart enough to get behind Ron Paul, then Im just going to save my money and ready for the collapse.
Anyone with half a brain can see that our system is doomed to crash. Alot of our cities have evaporated. Im 38 and before the housing collapse, everyone I knew had a decent job/career. Now, nearly everyone is hurting.
Romney or Obama? Who f*cking cares?? We still end up with George Bush.
'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul
Wrong
its either Ron Paul or Gary Johnson.
This is like asking
would you vote for Karl Marx or Friedrich Engels?
Sure one may be the lesser evil, but if those were my only options I would sit out the election. Just like I will sit out this election if Obama and Romney are my only options.
"Conservative" judge votes with the liberal block
Libertarians and Paul supporters then flock to and behind the GOP and their presumptive nominee in droves.
Makes perfect sense.
Ron Paul 2016
Technically to the contrary
The SCOTUS decision should technically drive conservatives out of the GOP as it exposes the "we need to get our people appointed to the high court to protect our conservative values" argument as a farce. Unfortunately, due to a hideous combination of intellectual ignorance and moral cowardice most of them are incapable of making any gestures towards a nation without the two party system. They have been trained to believe the GOP is their well-intentioned representative and there is no other. Even when they get glimpses to the contrary they nevertheless prefer their chains. It is a moral issue at its heart. "Those people who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants." -William Penn
Not this Libertarian, no way,
Not this Libertarian, no way, no how, NEVER! It's RP or GJ (if RP isn't on the ballot)for me.
Show Me Your Johnson
I'm voting for Gary!!
Some May
be swayed to support Romney because of ObamaCare, but I won't be since I'm NOT a Libertarian. ;)
Given Romney's history, Romney's vows don't mean much to me. Personally, I'm more concerned about having both chambers of the US Congress and the US Presidency controlled by the same fascist party consisting of warmongers ready to start WW3, drive the USA even deeper into debt, and stationing TSA brown-shirts on public transportation.
um
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
......no
Nope
Sorry Judge, I will vote for Dr. Ron Paul if I have to write him in.
The way I see it Obama may be about to go down over "fast and furious".
Not to mention a bunch of new Liberty minded represenitives may get elected in November.
NEVER GIVE UP !!!
NEVER NEVER NEVER !
Tin Pan
Agree!
Dr.Paul is the only choice.
Similar thinking here!
Depending on how the voting sheet is laid out in terms of presidential voting options, I would either write in Ron Paul's name, OR vote for Gary Johnson. There is NO way that I will vote fo MR or Obama. NO WAY!!!! I view Mitt and Obama is being largely similar, regardless of any ways that Mitt tried to SAY that he is any different. Ultimately, there is NOT BETTER choice than Ron Paul. RP is undeniably the IT factor!!!

A prediction
Let me now make a prediction.
President Romney will NOT repeal Obamacare.
Sometime in 2013 or 2014, he will make a speech about "being reasonable" and "reaching across the aisle" for a bi-partisan solution. Senator John McCain will help to craft a partial repeal.
The essence of the reform will be that the law will survive in a watered-down form, with a lighter obligation under the mandate and/or else a lower range of monetary penalty for violation. And the people will cheer. After the signing ceremony with 25 ink pens, Romney will stand in front of Republican crowds and accept applause as he pounds the podium, saying that he has "struck a blow for smaller government" or some other cliche.
Those who object will be lectured that they need to be "sensible."
Anybody care to challenge me on that prediction?
What?
Ya mean they will do what the "anti-war" Democrats did when Obama got in ... or the "small government" Republicans did when Bush said the sky would fall by tomorrow afternoon if TARP wasn't passed?
Noooooooooooooo.
Ya mean they will do what the Tea Party Republicans did when push came to shove to vote for lower spending, which is what got them elected in the first place?
Nooooooooooooooo.
Ya mean he will say one thing to get elected and then do something else once he's in office?
Noooooooooooooooo.
I don't believe it. These are fine, upstanding "public servants" we are talkin' about here.
[Excuse me ... I had to go puke there for a sec.]
Anyway, let's not hear anymore talk of these "conspiracy theories," as George Bush and Cass Sunstein both told us ... almost like they're on the same team, or somethin.'
