Interesting Phone Discussion

with a woman trying to get me to support Romney based off of the SCOTUS decision on healthcare. After about 10 minutes of letting her know that both parties are basically the same(Federal Reserve issues, Corporate Media, Constitutional abuses, etc.) and that I don't think Romney would do any better than Obama, the caller asked what I intended to do this election. I said that I was going to write in Ron Paul's name rather than play the "lesser of two evils" game. She tried to get me to believe that I was the first person who ever told her that out of over one thousand phone calls she has made. I told her that she better start getting used to hearing it if that is the case because I know many people that feel the same way that I do. Hopefully I at least got her thinking about things. I felt good in the middle of the call, but at the end I got discouraged because she got back to the whole Romney should have a chance party line. I guess I can hope that I planted a seed, at least!

Write Ron's name in?

Look, I'm just as much of a supporter as the next guy, but honestly...are those even counted? Can a computer count a write-in? (esp. on election night?)

I'm over national politics. Let's go fight our Local Tyranny Centers, a.k.a. "City Hall", lol. <-- that was my attempt at a joke.

The context of the phone call

Needs to be considered. I agree that local politics is where real change can occur but the phone call was in reference to the national healthcare situation and concerned who I would support for president.

Good

A lot is going on in 'city hall'. Ever hear of regional planning commissions? They are attempting to institute Agenda 21 which isn't just about how to make the roads go nicely. This is about 'sustainable' social justice for 'underserved' and covers transportation, health, education, food, housing, etc. See what NH is doing to fight this. Google Windham Agenda 21.

Of course

Of course you were the "first person" who ever told her that. The GOP has been doing everything in its power to minimize Ron Paul's support. This includes telling supporters "Well, you're one of only a few who voted for him." even if they are telling this to 7 out of 10 people they call. It's a tactic to make us feel as if our views have no support and that we should just fall in line with the "majority".

Incidentally, I got a robocall from the GOP begging me to support Romney because he would supposedly overturn Obamacare. The only options were to donate or be removed from the calling list. I figure now that if I had pressed the button to donate, a person would have come on the line.

Don't forget...

It's Ronald Ernest "Ron" Paul

My work Caucus

I work in an IT support center. We don't talk about Politics much but I've kept my ears open for the off times when someone does talk about the election.

PHX AZ, MY WORK CAUCUS:
15 Ron Paul
2-3 Romney
1-2 Obama

I know IT guys spend more time on the internet that most and this may account for the lopsided numbers but, I still find it hard to believe that either Rom or Bama have as much support as MSN is claiming.

What's your work caucus like?

They always leave out an important fact

There's not anything Romney can do about it as President - if he's serious about repealing it, he should run for Congress.

I don't know of 1 person that would vote for rombama

so all this media coverage is just bullchit

I brought up their funding (Robomney as I call them)

and how Goldman Sachs is the main contributor for both and her basic reply was..."Herp Derp".
