Honor, long gone. Restore the duel.

My contention is honor went out the window when the duel was outlawed. Now the bankers can be crooks and there is no recourse, they have the police state to guard them and the courts to bribe. I hear tell, People couldn't continue in their lie as they do now, historically it would cost them their lives or their honor.

Pistol dueling was employed many times in the Colonial United States until it fell out of favor in Eastern America in the 18th century. It was retained however in the American Old West for quite some time due to the absence of common law.

Kinda sounds like what we got now. check out the history.

Restore the duel, see if things wouldn't change fast.

Peace.

I prefer trials and public hangings.

Duels only give you a 50% chance of getting the right guy.

Undo what Wilson did

I think we all would but the rich white guys

Own the court system already, that's my point. How about prosecutors that do their jobs?? Elliot Spittler comes to mind. Not one person responsible did he investigate or prosecute. 3000 deaths - great job, RMoney cabinet material.

I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility to every form of tyranny over the mind of man.

People should be able to voluntarily duel.

But, we shouldn't encourage people to solve their disagreements with violence or to engage in other detrimental behavior.

I believe people should be allowed to engage in prostitution, shoot heroin, and play Russian roulette, but I would never recommend that others partake in them.

I agree, dueling should be legal along with all voluntary acts between consenting individuals.

But, lets choose not to kill each other over disagreements.

I know of several places where suicide is a capital crime.

What I mean is that if you attempt it, and are unsuccessful, you can be tried and put to death for making the attempt.

But that can actually be usedful for certain very religious types I have heard of, who feel that suicide is the greatest sin that can be commited. (I've heard some say it is the "unforgivable sin" of denying the Lord, and his gift of life to you).

Supposedly, if you are unsuccessful, you are off the hook. You can repent and allow the state to put you to death and go to your great reward with a clean conscience.

This post is BOUND to stir controversy. But before it does please let me tell you, I am not religious myself at all.

In any case

If someone attempts suicide and survives, and then is put to death for the attempt (unwillingly), their killer would be committing murder.

This would be an enormous violation of the Non-Aggression Axiom.

I agree completely with all the points you make.

Thats why I am libertarian (small "l").

Agreed.

Who has the right to stop two men who mutually agree, in public with sworn seconds (witnesses), to fight?
