Romney Coming to Montana for Private Fundraiser: No Media/Public; Price $25k!

[This is simply outrageous. There could be three local people attending I reckon, and the rest will have to be flown in to make it look good.]
Romney to hold fundraiser in Hamilton

Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential candidate, will be in Montana next week for fundraising events in Hamilton.

They are scheduled for the Daly Mansion on July 11.

To attend the reception costs $2,500 per person, or $5,000 for a couple.

It costs $5,000 for a person, and $10,000 for a couple, to attend the reception and have a photograph taken with Romney, the former Massachusetts governor.

The cost of attending dinner with Romney is $25,000 per person, or $50,000 for a couple.

Charles Schwab, founder of the brokerage company of the same name and a part-time Ravalli County resident, is the event’s sponsor.

Romney has scheduled similar fundraising trips in Sun Valley, Idaho, the day before the Montana event, and one in Jackson Hole, Wyo., the following day,

“We’re excited to have him here,” said Romney’s state political chairman, Rep. Scott Reichner, R-Bigfork.

Reichner said no public campaign events are scheduled during Romney’s Montana visit. He said the fundraising events are closed to the media. [my emphasis]

Somebody should tell the writer...

that the convention hasn't happened yet, and that Ron Paul is still running for the nomination.

I posted this comment to tell them that this is bad form,

This is simply outrageous. Perhaps there could be three local people attending I reckon. The rest will have to be flown in to make this event look good, but I forgot, there is no media coverage. We'll never know. I take particular offense that Romney will not be making any public appearances during his visit, as if the public doesn't matter. At $25,000/plate and no discount for couples, his elitism is grotesquely showing in a state like Montana. Romney may garnish some donations by holding this event in the Bitterroot, but no one I have ever met in my 15 years here will be attending. How many votes will Romney be losing in the process? We will know that come November.
