Why I will vote for Romney if Ron Paul does not get the RNC Nomination (I pray he does)

This article was reconstructed from a comment I made on another thread, and with encouragement from a friend, I have made it into a DP top post.

Many folks here say they will write-in Ron Paul, vote for GJ, or not vote at all in the upcomming General Election. I am one of those rare people here, who will admit to you, that I will vote for Mitt Romney rather than write-in RP, vote for GJ, or not vote. My heart goes out to all of you who are considering these other options, for I felt the exactly same way, about all the candidates I've ever seen on the (R) or (D) ballot the past 33 years. Please allow me to have you understand why I will vote for Mitt Romney if Ron Paul does not win the RNC nomination. I KNOW all about "Evil" Obama clone Romney, and to me, it's not about him, it's about us, the Ron Paul rEVOLution.

I only joined the GOP a little over a year ago. It was VERY HARD VERY VERY HARD. NEVER did I think that I, a LP member for 16 years, and a Decline To State Voter (now called No Party Preferance/ NPP)for 17 years, who worked with Ralph Nader on ballot access and open debates, and worked for the County of Los Angeles Registrar's office as an inspector, to make sure my prescint was accountable. I NEVER thought I'd be a Republican.

I have never voted for a Democrat or Republican. Not even in 08, I gave Ralph Nader a 4TH vote when Ron Paul dropped out.

In 07/08 I pleaded for RP to go Indy or Third Party. I KNEW I could help him with ballot access and debates, since I had three elections and several states' experience, having worked with Ralph Nader for ballot access and open debates. Nader, to this day, has more law suits against the U.S. government than anyone I know, and I met allot of people working for him, and many were LP members, like Justin Raimondo.

So when RP got into the 2012 election, I KNEW he was not going to go Indy or Third Party. I really didn't want to be a Republican. I feel like I can't ephasize that enough. I felt SICK about it.

When I joined the GOP, I got wind that my next step was to get a seat on a central committee. Central Committee? I NEVER heard such a thing. A Republican Central Committee??? Sure enough, we had one, representing ALL 5 county districts.

I was afraid to go. Seriously. I don't recall what my fears were, except all the things I had read in MSM. I imagined the worse, facing the most evil people in the world. How could I become part of that?

So, I found out where the meeting was, and I sucked up my FEAR and LOATHING, and went. I found two people, I knew both of them. I did not know they were Republican. The one who was Chair, I thought was a huge Liberal from his work. Instead of 21 people that were supposed to be there, there were only two. I introduced myself as a Ron Paul Republican and they almost puked their lo Mein.

I continued to go to the meetings, as I wanted to see who were members, to get the by-laws, and understanding. The first meeting had a Board of Supervisor come to vet a Library Tax.

I came to find out most seats were empty, but my district was full so I could not get a seat. I had to campaign for my seat, and they didn't help me at all. I won. I showed up to every meeting, and I held them accountable. When folks missed three consecutive meetings, I motioned they be removed and I replace them. At one point, the Chair threatened to resign. I accepted, but I had no vote.

It became FUN presuring them, being their gadfly, stopping them from doing whatever the hell they wanted. I kept hoping some other Ron Paul Republicans would show up. I knew, if they would show up, we would RULE my county. They didn't show.

As I continued to go to meetings, I learned that as members, we vet delegates, issues, candidates and are THE REPUBLICAN ESTABLISHMENT. They began to admire my kindness, genuine interest, RP perspective and fortitude. I was not a quitter, and could be depended on, allbeit, I was a Ron Paul "wacko".

I have learned more about politics in this past year, than all the petitions, protests, rally's, campaigns, and work for the registrar's office, combined.

NOW I know why we get stuck with the same two bad choices and "spoilers" every election. I know that, no one wants Romney as the man for president, but we need his office to empower our GOP committees. Ron Paul Republicans who are seated, hold offices, and are candidates, need a Republican president, beit Ron Paul (YES!) or Romney (sigh). Ron Paul is our absolute best choice, but Romney, is better than Obama for us, since no one in my committee wanted Romney, if Romney wins, we are all equals. Obama wins, and we are bottom feeders.

TPTB want Obama to remain in office, which you gotta know, writting in RP, voting for GJ, or not voting, will do exactly that, and why TPTB pressured Central Committees to vet Romney, knowing GOP won't go there. This makes it especially hard for Ron Paul Republicans, as we have everything to lose being freshmen.

Now, on the Democratic Central Committees, we have Hillary members, and THEY are who is making Obama into a liar, as they promote Hillary's agenda, not Obama's. If Romney wins, Ron Paul Republicans can do this to Romney, and that's why if Ron Paul does not get the nomination, a vote for Romney still helps Ron Paul Republicans.

I used to vote MY conscious, MY beliefs, MY agenda. My vote was all about ME and MY ego. Now, that is no longer the case. My vote for Romney, being Ron Paul does not win the nomination, will be for Ron Paul Republicans who are seated, campaigning, and holding offices to empower THEM so they can do to Romney, what Hillary's committees, and offices holders, do to Obama.

I hope you can see now, it's not a matter of accepting evil, but a different way to fight it, from the inside, which writing in a name doesn't work, as it may feel good, but it's actually putting Obama back in office and helping TPTB, just like voting for GJ, or not voting, and this is no accident, it's by design. That is how evil operates.

You got to meet it to beat it.

Romney wins, and Ron paul Republicans retain the spot light. This is why Rand Paul endorsed Romney, because he understands, to Ron Paul, it's not about Ron Paul, it's about us and our future, and a Republican as president empowers US, not Romney.

WOW. The Granger deserves thanks and the credit that is due to anyone who has dedicated this much of their time and life for the cause of Liberty. What makes the Republican party so powerful? The answer is people. I talk to a lot of my friends at church and college, and the biggest problem is that people need to be waken up. I can spend 5 minutes talking to someone whether it be about foreign policy or states rights and because of the logic of the argument they agree. I think this is the case with many republicans and we need to strengthen Ron Paul's party (the Republicans) by staying with it. Too many people won't vote third party simply because they feel they are giving a half vote for the worse of two evils. It is time for us to make sure that one of the two options are not evil by taking over the Republican Party.

We need to get an early start on 2016: Support Rand PAC 2016

In defense of Granger:

If a liberty candidate were to run again within the GOP regardless of office, we need people like her on the GOP Committee 2012 thru 2016 to promote those candidates. In order to that she has been sworn an oath to support the ALL nominees or risk being kicked out.

I Still don't see why you would vote Romney.

Your ballot is private and who you vote for is only your concern. But after supporting Ron Paul for as long as we both have been and the fact that Ron Paul himself is not voting for Romney should give you some guidance on where not to cast your vote. That doesn't mean that you don't have other republicans running for other offices to vote for. I would suggest that you think this over a little more between now and election day.

Her Vote is Private

she doesn't "have to" vote for anybody. She chooses to vote for Romney. That's fine, but attempting to persuade liberty minded people that they should also vote for Romney in every single thread she writes is becoming obnoxious. Country before Party. The GOP is the enemy of Liberty and if you want to infiltrate the enemy camp to further our purpose, that's fine too. I think Granger is a victim of the Stockholm effect. She has become a true party hack in sympathy and cahoots with the abusers. It happens all the time. Someday, perhaps her capacity for assimilation will wane and she will hopefully recognize that the GOP is not the place ( or at least the only place) where the Liberty movement is most likely to thrive and prosper. Romney is an enemy of our cause. No doubt about it. If he wins, we will experience a setback.

I don't see her persuading others as much as defending herself.

Perhaps you can send me a link showing otherwise.

I will have to correct you on voting privacy. It is private as far as not telling the public but that's it. The party does know who you vote for and do whatever they like with the information depending on state or local rules. Case and point, would you want an adversary in your club as a board member--the structure to preserve what your club is about? Probably not.

The predicament(?) for said committee member is that RP wanted the liberty minded people to become the tent of the GOP. TO have the structure for that tent some will have to make seemingly adversarial short-term decisions in order for RPs wishes and our own to arise.

I'd vote for Romney and

I'd vote for Romney and volunteer for him, if I thought he had a chance to win. I see it as a way to add the liberty movement's influence into the next administration. pragmatic.

But I don't think Romney can win. And I think the GOP needs to lose because of all the illegal and immoral actions against us.

Nevertheless, I emphatically support the idea of taking over both our local GOPs and Democratic parties. It's the only strategy in the long-term that works.

vote for Romney? Aw hell no

not a chance after the way the liberty loving people were treated in the last GOP fiasco. This is the way they will continue to be treated by the Romulans. There isn't a chance of him becoming a fan of the constitution and bill of rights. He is a war profiteer, in my opinion, and will continue to send our kids to fight so his kids can continue to profit.

Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point.

I think Obama deserves to lose

I think the PTB forced Romney on us wanting the GOP to lose to give Obama another four years to take us into a NWO.

Wrong... both the Repubs and

Wrong... both the Repubs and Dems are sleeping together. Both parties controlled by the same world banking and corporate elite. PROOF? Who is the largest doator to Romney? Goldman Sachs. Who is the largest donator to Barry Soetero? Goldman sachs. The Powers that be have not forced Romney on us. they have their bases covered no matter who wins. All this goes to prove is that you don't have a clue what you are talking about and shows why you are voting for this douchebag of a candidate. NDAA, patriot acts, bank bailouts, etc.etc.etc.. Romney and Obama are exactly the same. But you are going to vote for him.. real smart. And don't give me this BS about voting for Romney to further Ron Paul republicans. VOTE PRINCIPLE OVER PARTY.

Both Neocons and Neoliberals for a NWO

Both Neocons and Neoliberals are together for a NWO, and they team up to advance their UN Agenda.

The principle behind the rEVOLution is to Restore the Republic, by filling the seats and offices to constitutional government. We are covering our bases in the GOP to break the duopoly that gives us a corporacracy.

The major parties were the same, but we are changing that game plan.

The world should know what the RNC did to Ron Paul Republicans, and that the Ron Paul RepubliCANs did not run, but were oath keepers, and put Romney in office to hold him accountable to the constitution. The GOP could have a melt down, from within, as we continue to keep our oaths, work to eliminate loyalty oaths to the party, and charge those within the party with treason when they break the loyalty oaths they took to the constitution.

The Constitutionalists, oath keepers, tea partiers and Earthquakers are all on board.. the Neocons have no new blood, they are old and tired. WE ARE THE FUTURE.

Your principle is to run away , toss your vote in the name of hate and revenge. Lousy principle IMO.

How many lives are you willing to sacrifice?

Both Romney and Obama promise endless war and endless killing of the innocent. While I disagree with Gary Johnson on "Humanitarian wars" and "Drone Strikes," I believe Gary Johnson will decide he cannot, in good conscience, authorize drone strikes. Otherwise, I do not believe Ron Paul would speak so favorably of Gary Johnson. While Gary Johnson has a minimal chance of winning, he has an infinitely better chance of winning that of Romney and Obama not killing millions more, including your fellow citizens. I also believe neither Obama nor Romney can survive four years as POTUS without a military coup or armed rebellion. Either will cost the lives of tens of thousands, if not millions of your fellow citizens and foreign occupation of those emerging nations whom we have wronged. Do you want this blood on your hands? Many of us here at THE DAILY PAUL disagree on how best to serve the causes of life and liberty. Some want to force Ron Paul to run 3rd Party. Others want Ron Paul as Gary Johnson's VP; while still others want to "send a message" by writing in "Ron Paul". I am voting for Gary Johnson because I believe he has a far better chance of winning the Presidency than any other option available to us.

You're being over-dramatic

The reality is someone already lost their precinct captain spot for endorsing GJ (which is lame but what do you expect from the GOP). It was not worth him doing that because he could do a lot more inside the gates than outside.

As Cicero said:

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly against the city. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears no traitor; he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared. The traitor is the carrier of the plague."

And so it is within the gates of the GOP.

Fight the Ron Paul blackout on the Daily Paul (now 'P AU L'), put his removed poster back as your avatar:

I guess you think cracked ribs and broken fingers is...

"politics as usual." I do not particularly blame the GOP establishment for firing a Precinct Captain stupid enough to openly endorse a presidential candidate from another party. However, you are fooling yourself if you believe you can reform a criminal organization from within. Voting for Mitt Romney is clearly not part of the solution and, as events head toward their logical conclusion, we will see if I am being "overly dramatic".

It's already reforming

Ron Paul Republicans are seated and we find aliences with Tea partieres and Palin Earthquakers for constitutional government, while the Neocons are retirering, they have no new blood to add to the GOP. They are done, and so the Democratic Party under Obama is finishing the job.. many Obama supporters here are posing as GJ supporters, but you can tell they are not Libertarian, just here to divide us.

TPTB want Obama for four more years, they do not want Romney and that's perhaps the best reason of all to vote Romney.

In the big picture, it;'s really not about what THEY want, but rather, Ron paul's message and getting it materialized. GJ won't do that. With 71 members in my county of 36K people, he doesn't have a committee here, and that's just one place. Obama has no one jholding him to the constitution.

What I see most of all is a failure to support those who did what Ron Paul asked, became delegates and committee members.. instead, they undermine us and for what?

Do what you want. I'm just here to say I'm very happy working in the GOP with other Ron Paul Republicans.. it's AWESOME! I look forward to every meeting! It beats Daily Paul in so many ways.. I wish my meetings were more than once a month.

Have a great posting day!

One More Time

1 night of prayin and six nights of fun
The odds against goin to heaven are 6 to 1

Caardvaark is takin bets. All comers welcome.

I understand where you are coming from Granger

and I hope if Romney does win that you continue to work for liberty from the inside. You have to do what you think is right whether others agree or not.

Thank you ibdeeter

Working on the inside is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me, which I am profoundly grateful to Ron Paul for getting me off the streets and teaching me how to vote NO to unconstitutional laws.

If I was not so happy, I wouldn't post anything, but Ron Paul's plan is working.. Beside Church, my highlight is going to my committee meetings, I LOVE seeing the other Ron Paul RepubliCAN, I LOVER how we stand together, yet each of us independet.. we don't agree on everything,, but we do agree on restoring America, and since their strength is the constitution and mune is Robert's Rules, we have our victories and it feels GREAT when we triumph

lives in California. A state where Obama wins by a landslide. She can afford to suck up to the weakling Ca GOP. She thinks the shrinking GOP tent is where the liberty movement will somehow grow. I don't agree. It's a different game in the swing states. The rise of a third party is what really matters in the swing states. Here's to liberty- here we go. We can change the game if a third party/write-in combined total is high enough to get attention. Anybody but Romney.

It sounds like you disagreed with Ron Paul's strategy of taking over the GOP?

Listen Closer

Ron Paul never said take over the GOP. He said become the tent. He has not endorsed Romney. Do you really believe the tent will have a GOP logo on it? Now is the time for the rise of a third Party. The GOP is on life support. Obama is favored by 6 to 1 odds to win. The GOP is about to be dealt a fatal blow, even Limbaugh hates Romney! WAKE UP. Many (most?) Patriots would never even consider joining the GOP.

If/until another plan has been established, please stay in the gop. It is important to be on the inside. Once we have determined a candidate and course of action for next election, we will know where we need to be.

Ron Paul 2012. By write-in.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

Ron paul Republicans are taking GOP off life support

I only joined the GOP last year, After 33 years FIGHTING for a third party.. know what I did with Ralph Nader? I helped the PTB close the loop holes.. it's ain't gonna to happen. So, you have an opportunity which your bigotry based on MSM is what is stopping you from joining Ron Paul and Ron Paul Republicans IN THE GOP. Shame,, but do what you want. I've been there, done that, and Frankly, my nice seat, with refreshments and voting NO, is WAY better than sign waves in the rain and mud, writing letters that don't get published, protesting, rallying, threatened arrests from cops... but you enjoy that by all means.

George Soros is picking our president in Spain!

I read he has donated to the Obama campaign, now owns the computers in Spain that will total the votes for us. Isn't that nice of him.

Gold standard: because man can not be trusted to control his greed

You say-

"Ron Paul never said take over the GOP. He said become the tent."

So was the "tent" not a metaphor for the Republican party? If not, then why was Ron Paul running as a Republican and what was the business of taking over GOP delegate slots about?

He was

using the Republican Party as a vehicle to get his message heard. He had no chance to do this as a third party candidate. Even as a Republican, the press and the GOP did all they could to distort and demean his message. Ron says party is irrelevant and he is right. Patriots are everywhere waiting to be awoken. We are privelaged now to hear the wheezing death rattle of the GOP.

Ron Paul was running for president as a Republican

and liberty candidates were encouraged to take positions within the Republican party. You can bend and twist it all you want but that is the bottom line and that is what The Granger did.

While I do not fully understand her compulsion to vote for Romney, I understand her reasoning where it concerns using those positions gained to further the cause of liberty from within the Republican party.

If you think the Republican party is in its death throws, I disagree. It may morph into something more favorable to personal rights and freedom than it currently is (thanks in large part to people like The Granger and Rand Paul working from within the party) but I don't personally hold out hope that you will see much more of a GOP conversion than that any time soon.

That in no way diminishes the benefit of having people on the inside, however.

Complusion, NOT

I signed a loyalty oath and I will keep my oath to the by-laws that say I must support the GOP Nominee.. they've got it.. Romney it is... but we all also signed a loyalty oath to the constitution.. and that is exactly what I intend to hold them to.. fortunately I am not alone,, and to be honest, the idea of holding Romney to the constitution appeals to me.. where no one will hold Obama to the constitution.. since Romney has the best chance to beat Obama and he has RP GOP on the committees and in offices.. he's got my vote.

Maybe there's a RP GOP holding a seat for you? I think you'll love it. I do. I love voting NO... It makes my heart sing.
