Why I will vote for Romney if Ron Paul does not get the RNC Nomination (I pray he does)
Submitted by The Granger on Sat, 07/07/2012 - 20:04This article was reconstructed from a comment I made on another thread, and with encouragement from a friend, I have made it into a DP top post.
Many folks here say they will write-in Ron Paul, vote for GJ, or not vote at all in the upcomming General Election. I am one of those rare people here, who will admit to you, that I will vote for Mitt Romney rather than write-in RP, vote for GJ, or not vote. My heart goes out to all of you who are considering these other options, for I felt the exactly same way, about all the candidates I've ever seen on the (R) or (D) ballot the past 33 years. Please allow me to have you understand why I will vote for Mitt Romney if Ron Paul does not win the RNC nomination. I KNOW all about "Evil" Obama clone Romney, and to me, it's not about him, it's about us, the Ron Paul rEVOLution.
I only joined the GOP a little over a year ago. It was VERY HARD VERY VERY HARD. NEVER did I think that I, a LP member for 16 years, and a Decline To State Voter (now called No Party Preferance/ NPP)for 17 years, who worked with Ralph Nader on ballot access and open debates, and worked for the County of Los Angeles Registrar's office as an inspector, to make sure my prescint was accountable. I NEVER thought I'd be a Republican.
I have never voted for a Democrat or Republican. Not even in 08, I gave Ralph Nader a 4TH vote when Ron Paul dropped out.
In 07/08 I pleaded for RP to go Indy or Third Party. I KNEW I could help him with ballot access and debates, since I had three elections and several states' experience, having worked with Ralph Nader for ballot access and open debates. Nader, to this day, has more law suits against the U.S. government than anyone I know, and I met allot of people working for him, and many were LP members, like Justin Raimondo.
So when RP got into the 2012 election, I KNEW he was not going to go Indy or Third Party. I really didn't want to be a Republican. I feel like I can't ephasize that enough. I felt SICK about it.
When I joined the GOP, I got wind that my next step was to get a seat on a central committee. Central Committee? I NEVER heard such a thing. A Republican Central Committee??? Sure enough, we had one, representing ALL 5 county districts.
I was afraid to go. Seriously. I don't recall what my fears were, except all the things I had read in MSM. I imagined the worse, facing the most evil people in the world. How could I become part of that?
So, I found out where the meeting was, and I sucked up my FEAR and LOATHING, and went. I found two people, I knew both of them. I did not know they were Republican. The one who was Chair, I thought was a huge Liberal from his work. Instead of 21 people that were supposed to be there, there were only two. I introduced myself as a Ron Paul Republican and they almost puked their lo Mein.
I continued to go to the meetings, as I wanted to see who were members, to get the by-laws, and understanding. The first meeting had a Board of Supervisor come to vet a Library Tax.
I came to find out most seats were empty, but my district was full so I could not get a seat. I had to campaign for my seat, and they didn't help me at all. I won. I showed up to every meeting, and I held them accountable. When folks missed three consecutive meetings, I motioned they be removed and I replace them. At one point, the Chair threatened to resign. I accepted, but I had no vote.
It became FUN presuring them, being their gadfly, stopping them from doing whatever the hell they wanted. I kept hoping some other Ron Paul Republicans would show up. I knew, if they would show up, we would RULE my county. They didn't show.
As I continued to go to meetings, I learned that as members, we vet delegates, issues, candidates and are THE REPUBLICAN ESTABLISHMENT. They began to admire my kindness, genuine interest, RP perspective and fortitude. I was not a quitter, and could be depended on, allbeit, I was a Ron Paul "wacko".
I have learned more about politics in this past year, than all the petitions, protests, rally's, campaigns, and work for the registrar's office, combined.
NOW I know why we get stuck with the same two bad choices and "spoilers" every election. I know that, no one wants Romney as the man for president, but we need his office to empower our GOP committees. Ron Paul Republicans who are seated, hold offices, and are candidates, need a Republican president, beit Ron Paul (YES!) or Romney (sigh). Ron Paul is our absolute best choice, but Romney, is better than Obama for us, since no one in my committee wanted Romney, if Romney wins, we are all equals. Obama wins, and we are bottom feeders.
TPTB want Obama to remain in office, which you gotta know, writting in RP, voting for GJ, or not voting, will do exactly that, and why TPTB pressured Central Committees to vet Romney, knowing GOP won't go there. This makes it especially hard for Ron Paul Republicans, as we have everything to lose being freshmen.
Now, on the Democratic Central Committees, we have Hillary members, and THEY are who is making Obama into a liar, as they promote Hillary's agenda, not Obama's. If Romney wins, Ron Paul Republicans can do this to Romney, and that's why if Ron Paul does not get the nomination, a vote for Romney still helps Ron Paul Republicans.
I used to vote MY conscious, MY beliefs, MY agenda. My vote was all about ME and MY ego. Now, that is no longer the case. My vote for Romney, being Ron Paul does not win the nomination, will be for Ron Paul Republicans who are seated, campaigning, and holding offices to empower THEM so they can do to Romney, what Hillary's committees, and offices holders, do to Obama.
I hope you can see now, it's not a matter of accepting evil, but a different way to fight it, from the inside, which writing in a name doesn't work, as it may feel good, but it's actually putting Obama back in office and helping TPTB, just like voting for GJ, or not voting, and this is no accident, it's by design. That is how evil operates.
You got to meet it to beat it.
Romney wins, and Ron paul Republicans retain the spot light. This is why Rand Paul endorsed Romney, because he understands, to Ron Paul, it's not about Ron Paul, it's about us and our future, and a Republican as president empowers US, not Romney.

I am prepared
I am prepared to be the only one in my county to VOTE NO to war, NO to taxes, NO to a police state, NO to bailouts, NO to Neocons, NO to corruption, NO to Obama.
Maybe being a negative Nancy works for you, but it doesn't do a damn thing for the Ron Paul Republican rEVOLution.

No: If Romney wins
Then a new major War with Iran is certain.
The Economy will be shattered.
The Bush Foreign-Policy team will be brought back. New "false flag" events will be perpetrated. Everybody will be screwed.
The best thing to do is to discredit the whole Romney-wing of the Republican Party, let Obama play out his 4 years, and keep all the political energy building up against him (Tea Party, etc.), and support Libertarian candidtes along the way..
Rand Paul may then have a chance in 2016.
Romney is not running to win
Romney is running so Ron Paul Republicans will stay OUT of the GOP and let Obama win so they can nail us into a NWO.
Why is Romney and Obama's so much alike? Because they don't want you to have a choice, a voice.
They put up Romney KNOWING you wouldn't go there and that keeps them in POWER.
The fact remains, they stay in power because they dare to go where too many here would NOT, on a committee. They don't even like Romney, but they LOVE the power that could be ours if we showed up and took those seats.
RON PAUL WAS TELLING THE TRUTH. Believe it! I did, and I have no regrets.
For all the down votes, the irony is, I'm the only one is a county of 36K people who is standing for Ron Paul within the limits of the laws I agreed to uphold.
I shouldn't have to be alone. Where are you?

So then what you are saying....
If I hear you correctly, is because you feel that Romney will not win and you have to uphold certain "by-laws" that you are going to vote for Romney, but that you don't expect or actually want us (Liberty Movement) to vote for him. Is that right?
Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
I'm not asking anyone to vote for Romney
I'm making an attempt to educate Ron Paul supporters what the process is, at least in my state, CA, when you have done what Ron Paul asked all of us to do, join the GOP (many here did not, would not, will NOT, EVER!!!), after you join the GOP, get on a central committee, or GOP town council, so you have a seat that represents thousands of votes in your county district.
I also want folks to understand, that as committee members, we are bound (though I'm sure there are those who will not vote for Romney, and remain "stealth", but I am NOT stealth. I'm willing to do what I took an oath to do, to empower those like me, who understand that a Romney win, is a win for us, as it empowers GOP seats and not the Democrats).
Romney would have to answer to seated Ron Paul Republicans, Obama does not. While it may not be much, due to the lack of Ron Paul Republicans taking seats, Romney still gives us power and has to answer to us, and Obama does not.
That said, if you frankly don't give a damn about people who actually did what Ron Paul asked ALL of us to do, by all means, weaken us and suit yourself. I'm NOT voting for Obama or throwing my vote to default for Obama, who is my president, not that I voted for him, I did not, but because I'm an American and he is the president, whether I like it or not. NOT.

Granger, wake the heck up.
Granger, wake the heck up. If yo vote for Romney, all you're doing is entrenching the party AGAINST liberty candidates. The only way you can send a message at this point is to vote for anyone BUT Romney.
Make him lose. That is the only way they will learn. And if Johnson is seen as the spoiler, they will do EVERYTHING they can to bring those people back to the Republican party. That is good and bad, since much of that effort won't be sincere. But it's the only way they will get any message at all.
Seriously, wake up. You're playing right into their only real campaign strategy "Romney, because, well, what choice do you have?"

What you don't understand
I was a Liberty candidate when I ran for my seat and won. I will be campaigning in the future as a liberty candidate, but if I don't have my seat, I will not have the POWER the GOP provides.
Ron Paul gave the LP the opportunity to take over the GOP and they decided to remain third party and vote for a Republican who is a Libertarian for this elction.
Why do you thenk Ron Paul left the Libertarian Party? Same reason I did. We got nowhere but labled as jokes, are fitted with Republicans.
So now, some of us are Republicans and I'm not going to break my oath, as it affords me opportunity you don't want.
Go figure.

By- laws
First, I had to petition Republicans in my area ans get 20 valid signatures. It's not hard, but I had to get more than 20 because people who say they are GOP, aren't, or the signature is not valid for one reason or another. I campaigned as a Ron Paul Republican, so I got NO help at all from my GOP. The others had a party where eveyone signed everyones petitions. It took them one cocktail party to get their signatured and me, weeks of campaigning ALONE.
Second, when I qualified, I was notifed by the county clerk who gave me a letter, and with that letter, I went to their office and HAD TO SIGN FORMS. Those forms were: 1. An Oath to the Constitution. 2. A loyalty Oath to the GOP saying I would uphold the By-laws on my committee. 3. a 470/ I would commit no fraud or purgery.
Third, once I had done that, I was on the ballot, because no one ran against me for that seat, I won by default.
At the central committee, I was given several packages of papers, 1. The adopted Draft Platform of the GOP 2.Inniative committee report. 3. Resolutions committee report. 4. Rules committee report. 5. The By-laws.
In the By-laws there is a section : REMOVAL, what is important here for this topic, and why I wrote the top post:
1. Causes for removal include:
a. Registering to vote as other than a member of the Republican Party (this was the concern with Americans Elect)
2. PUBLICALL ENDORSING or supporting a candidate for any partisan office who is opposed by a candidate who is a Republican, or who the Committee endorses.
3. Publically advocating that voters should not vote for the nominee of the Party for any office.
So, IF I want to continue to Represent RON PAUL as a REPUBLICAN, where there is POWER to place on the ballot, Ron Paul's message in the form of issues, candidates, and vet delegates, someone needs to be placed on the committee. Since NO ONE, No other Ron Paul Republicans showed up to fill those empty seats, I am alone, facing 6 Neocons, who would LOVE to publically humiliate me, disqualify me and boot me off the committee.
They KNOW that those seats are powerful and worthy in affecting WHO and WHAT goes on the ballot for the voter to choose.
Why aren't YOU on a committee? You think your vote is worth something? My vote represents 1700 people and I'm standing for Ron Paul within the limits of the law that I have signed and agreed to uphold.
IF I can run for another office and claim it, I will be free of the committee by-laws and can openly endorse Ron Paul, but until then, all I can do is be on a committee and vote NO to taxes, NO to bail outs, NO to Neocons, NO to bigger giovernment, NO to a police state NO to Obama, and Pray to God, some one wake up and joins me.

Because I strive to be honest with myself and others.
No one I know wanted Romney, so they have had to adjust their mindset, to accept Romney, just like I do. I'm not even going to say it's easier for me than them, as we do have things in common, for example, the love for our religions and wanting to keep them.
Anyways, being that I strive to be honest, if I am not honest, then eventually it will come out.
It's one thing for me to say to the committee, "Well, like you I didn't agree with Romney 100%, but I voted for Romney because I appreciate the power his office affords all of us."
Than to say, "I didn't vote for Romney."

Well
Maybe if you think or look at it like a powerful disfunctional family.
Lets say you have a family of 21 people, all with varying needs and wants, and everybody has to eat together to stay together.
No one wanted eggs for dinner, some wanted, chicken, some wanted beef, some wanted pork, some wanted veggies, and then the government drops off a case of eggs because the majority of powerful families got a deal on eggs. The chicken and pork are not enough to feed anyone but the cat and dog. The beef is something one person wants, and everyone else says, "Eggs are free so lets have eggs."
If you are going to stay with your famioly, you're going to eat eggs, or you can leave your family and hit the street.
I don't have to tell anyone, but I KNOW myself, and it's better for me to be honest because I get caught when I've attempted to not be. I was not born with the gift of stealth mode.
No one owns me, I KNOW that.
