Why I will vote for Romney if Ron Paul does not get the RNC Nomination (I pray he does)

This article was reconstructed from a comment I made on another thread, and with encouragement from a friend, I have made it into a DP top post.

Many folks here say they will write-in Ron Paul, vote for GJ, or not vote at all in the upcomming General Election. I am one of those rare people here, who will admit to you, that I will vote for Mitt Romney rather than write-in RP, vote for GJ, or not vote. My heart goes out to all of you who are considering these other options, for I felt the exactly same way, about all the candidates I've ever seen on the (R) or (D) ballot the past 33 years. Please allow me to have you understand why I will vote for Mitt Romney if Ron Paul does not win the RNC nomination. I KNOW all about "Evil" Obama clone Romney, and to me, it's not about him, it's about us, the Ron Paul rEVOLution.

I only joined the GOP a little over a year ago. It was VERY HARD VERY VERY HARD. NEVER did I think that I, a LP member for 16 years, and a Decline To State Voter (now called No Party Preferance/ NPP)for 17 years, who worked with Ralph Nader on ballot access and open debates, and worked for the County of Los Angeles Registrar's office as an inspector, to make sure my prescint was accountable. I NEVER thought I'd be a Republican.

I have never voted for a Democrat or Republican. Not even in 08, I gave Ralph Nader a 4TH vote when Ron Paul dropped out.

In 07/08 I pleaded for RP to go Indy or Third Party. I KNEW I could help him with ballot access and debates, since I had three elections and several states' experience, having worked with Ralph Nader for ballot access and open debates. Nader, to this day, has more law suits against the U.S. government than anyone I know, and I met allot of people working for him, and many were LP members, like Justin Raimondo.

So when RP got into the 2012 election, I KNEW he was not going to go Indy or Third Party. I really didn't want to be a Republican. I feel like I can't ephasize that enough. I felt SICK about it.

When I joined the GOP, I got wind that my next step was to get a seat on a central committee. Central Committee? I NEVER heard such a thing. A Republican Central Committee??? Sure enough, we had one, representing ALL 5 county districts.

I was afraid to go. Seriously. I don't recall what my fears were, except all the things I had read in MSM. I imagined the worse, facing the most evil people in the world. How could I become part of that?

So, I found out where the meeting was, and I sucked up my FEAR and LOATHING, and went. I found two people, I knew both of them. I did not know they were Republican. The one who was Chair, I thought was a huge Liberal from his work. Instead of 21 people that were supposed to be there, there were only two. I introduced myself as a Ron Paul Republican and they almost puked their lo Mein.

I continued to go to the meetings, as I wanted to see who were members, to get the by-laws, and understanding. The first meeting had a Board of Supervisor come to vet a Library Tax.

I came to find out most seats were empty, but my district was full so I could not get a seat. I had to campaign for my seat, and they didn't help me at all. I won. I showed up to every meeting, and I held them accountable. When folks missed three consecutive meetings, I motioned they be removed and I replace them. At one point, the Chair threatened to resign. I accepted, but I had no vote.

It became FUN presuring them, being their gadfly, stopping them from doing whatever the hell they wanted. I kept hoping some other Ron Paul Republicans would show up. I knew, if they would show up, we would RULE my county. They didn't show.

As I continued to go to meetings, I learned that as members, we vet delegates, issues, candidates and are THE REPUBLICAN ESTABLISHMENT. They began to admire my kindness, genuine interest, RP perspective and fortitude. I was not a quitter, and could be depended on, allbeit, I was a Ron Paul "wacko".

I have learned more about politics in this past year, than all the petitions, protests, rally's, campaigns, and work for the registrar's office, combined.

NOW I know why we get stuck with the same two bad choices and "spoilers" every election. I know that, no one wants Romney as the man for president, but we need his office to empower our GOP committees. Ron Paul Republicans who are seated, hold offices, and are candidates, need a Republican president, beit Ron Paul (YES!) or Romney (sigh). Ron Paul is our absolute best choice, but Romney, is better than Obama for us, since no one in my committee wanted Romney, if Romney wins, we are all equals. Obama wins, and we are bottom feeders.

TPTB want Obama to remain in office, which you gotta know, writting in RP, voting for GJ, or not voting, will do exactly that, and why TPTB pressured Central Committees to vet Romney, knowing GOP won't go there. This makes it especially hard for Ron Paul Republicans, as we have everything to lose being freshmen.

Now, on the Democratic Central Committees, we have Hillary members, and THEY are who is making Obama into a liar, as they promote Hillary's agenda, not Obama's. If Romney wins, Ron Paul Republicans can do this to Romney, and that's why if Ron Paul does not get the nomination, a vote for Romney still helps Ron Paul Republicans.

I used to vote MY conscious, MY beliefs, MY agenda. My vote was all about ME and MY ego. Now, that is no longer the case. My vote for Romney, being Ron Paul does not win the nomination, will be for Ron Paul Republicans who are seated, campaigning, and holding offices to empower THEM so they can do to Romney, what Hillary's committees, and offices holders, do to Obama.

I hope you can see now, it's not a matter of accepting evil, but a different way to fight it, from the inside, which writing in a name doesn't work, as it may feel good, but it's actually putting Obama back in office and helping TPTB, just like voting for GJ, or not voting, and this is no accident, it's by design. That is how evil operates.

You got to meet it to beat it.

Romney wins, and Ron paul Republicans retain the spot light. This is why Rand Paul endorsed Romney, because he understands, to Ron Paul, it's not about Ron Paul, it's about us and our future, and a Republican as president empowers US, not Romney.

Well, I'm going to try to change that

While you go around educating people, and giving them no way to change it.

At least I won't vote for

At least I won't vote for tyranny while claiming to work for liberty.

Boy, Ron Paul DID teach you well. Say one thing, do another.

Ron Paul taught me

To follow the rules, stand tall for what I believe, accept my conditions and work to change what I can.

That's what I'm doing.

Blind obedience. Good for

Blind obedience. Good for you. The best slaves still believe they have freedom of will.

BTW, only 20% of the population are Republicans.

Food for thought

And maybe you dont consider yourself one, but people who believe in liberty and WANT IT, probably should start....

I also recommend Hayeks' The Constitution of Liberty and in particular the last chapter Why I am not a Conservative, which ultimately points to defines the utter failings of the system we have...

I'm not sure what point you

I'm not sure what point you are attempting to make.

That this is the last stand

as far as using the system as it stands to make any kind of headway towards a better world. After that, the system should be regarded as an utter loss in terms of accomplishing anything worthwhile like protecting individuals from a tyrannical state or promoting liberty.

How does not voting help?

How does not voting help?

The more people that vote "other", the more people that refuse to join parties, the more we win.

The Republicans are taming the liberty movement, Granger is proof of that.

Taming?

As in making it establishment. I hope so.

Sure beats skippin stones for the hell of it.

Sure. A vote for Romney

Sure. A vote for Romney sure is establishing something alright. But we weren't talking about feces.

This "falling out of the system we have"

is a falling into a NWO.

That's why Ron Paul's campaign is RESTORE AMERICA to constitutional governemnt.

Who understands the

Who understands the Constitution more, Romney or Johnson?

Who has no the better chance of actually winning?

Romney with thousands of committees representing millions of voters, or GJ with thousands of voters?

Obama has the better chance

Obama has the better chance of winning, so why don't you vote for him?

If Ron Paul does not get the nomination (and I pray he does)

Either Obama or Romney will win.

At least under Romney, my seat is empowered, and I can move my committee to go back to the Constitution.

If Obama wins, the Democrats retain control, top to bottom.

I will not vote for Obama because I don't agree with his politics, and being he is a Democrat, he takes away my power on my seat and gives it to the Democratic Party seats.

Are you going to explain to

Are you going to explain to your "committee" that immigration isn't in the Constitution and is purely state business?

When the issue arrises,

I'll make that a point.

Thank you.

Thank you Granger!

Thank you for an excellent and informative write up. Thank you for all your hard work on behalf of Liberty. I continue to pray Godspeed for Dr. Ron Paul in Tampa!!! I hope I don't have to make a hard choice in November, but if I do, I will definitely consider the education you have provided here...as someone who has put their hard work and time into the effort of Liberty. You have definitely "put your money where your mouth is!"

That mean a lot to me coming from you, bear

You are no dummy. I have always found you genuine and kind.

I would LOVE to have you on my committee.

Imagine if you, JanBrennan, fonta, Zsh, Danton, Shazad, astrolib, Big T, Andrew Jetton, BMWJIM, booboonue, agonzo1, hthomas, 1777free4all, spacehabits and libertybelle, and me, were all occupying a GOP central committee with the remaining three seats being occupied by the Neocons.

That's MY dream and Ron Paul's too.

F E A R

I need to get more politically involved. I just found Ron Paul this year. I have never been involved other than voting. You are a strong individual...I am afraid...you stepped out even though fear existed. What is that acronym again? I think I can see it applied here. I wish I could be on a committee with you. A mentor...sort of. I am still trying to get my mind back after chemo. It seems to be coming along but half the time I cannot remember what I just heard, or read…

We are in Rural Missouri and the RP group is nearly 2 hours away. I have 2 young boys and my husband is a Pastor so I find my time very limited and half the time I don't even know what time I will have for my own dispose. I do know our local GOP secretary. I met her this year. She made a comment to me yesterday that she liked my letter to the editor calling Vicky Hartzler out on her Liberty restricting votes. Perhaps I should talk to her a little. BTW I am not much of a people person either...so by the time I get done with church stuff (which I enjoy and would have no other way, just being honest) I am about peopled out. LOL

It's allright!

False
Evidense
Appearing
Real

Oh gee ((((bear)))) God Bless you and your doctors for extending your life to be with your wonderful husband, children and Church.

The meetings are an hour long once a month, and rotate places, and you can even offer to be a hostess.

Anyways, take your time, think things through, network at your own pace. The secretary may be the perfect mentor for you.

I too am a Church person, as that is my family. Jesus is MY God, My way, my light, My hope, My beginning and end, and my life.

There is no rush for you to take a seat, for it is better that you do have fun with it as Ron Paul suggests.

Just be you bear, I love you, and I know Jesus Christ LOVES you completely!

I am so glad I found you!

I am so glad I found you! You always leave me feeling so encouraged. You must have the gift of mercy. I am glad wee have the same God, the Lord Jesus Christ. Godspeed and blessings to you, my Sister!

Granger...

Ya know I love ya....
and I too am a chicken mama ;p You can find me on BackYardChickens.com as PAChickenChick2 ... lol

But all that aside, I understand your perspective on this..and to a point I can agree that we need to be more involved locally and we need to get "known" in our local and state GOP...however, I'm just not able to vote for anyone besides Dr. Paul.

Not because I'm part of a "fan club" but because some how to me voting for anyone else would feel like I let my kids down. I tell them all the time to stand up for what they know is right (even to the point of defending bullied kids or getting detention for "educating" a misguided teacher). How, after spending 11 yrs showing them the errors of our country and society, all of the sudden pretend to support someone I've repeatedly pointed out was misguided and foul? What does that teach them? That sometimes you have to do something you KNOW is wrong because it makes things easier?

If President Obama gets re-elected..yes, I will take a day to cry. I might even for a moment, second guess myself..understanding that by writing Dr. Paul's name in I may have indeed tipped some imaginary scale. But, after that moment..I will still be able to look at my kids and not feel ashamed.
And as for my fellow Liberty seeking folks that hold office..we will ALWAYS be the ones that struggle and are different..no matter who becomes our President..EVEN if it IS Dr. Paul...we will STILL struggle locally.

Please understand where I come from this view. I spend lots of time having conversations with my children about how this life..this shell they call a body..is only what they themselves make it. I'm not sure if you can grasp what I'm trying to get at because an online post is so impersonal, but when it comes down to it..all my kids have is their word and honor. I have to live up to that example if I ever expect them to.

I totally understand

I did that for 33 years (voting my conscience) so how can I not understand? I do!! Now I vote my conscience on a deeper level is all.

What is different for me, is that I went where I NEVER thought I would go: Republican.

Once I went Republican, I was hearing the campaign: "Join your committee." I went there. TWO people? Was this the biggest sham or what?

So I went for it (NO help from the committee who worked against me). I LOVED the challenge.

What happened was, it was no longer about Ron Paul, but I had walked through the door, and now I could see what Ron Paul was saying as to WHY we need to occupy seats.

It doesn't matter who the GOP, "spokesman" AKA president, is on a deeper level, it's WHO occupies those committees, for the president EMPOWERS them. If Ron Paul wins, the committees are occupied with NEOCONS, who will do to him, what Clinton/Biden do to Obama, make him into a liar.

So if I had children, my children (hopefully) would be looking at me, as Rand looks at Ron. They would understand, my sacrificing MY conscience isn't for me, but enables ME to put local/ state issues, candidates on the ballot FOR them.

Give your children an example, of not just being a voter who stands for their convictions, but go deeper. Get on a committee, or party council, get a seat and show them how to fight a good fight.

My vote is for Ron Paul no matter who I vote for because my vote is for ME, to empower me, to put Ron Paul's message on MY local ballot.

If all of us had joined the GOP, taken a seat, and become vetted delegates, we would all be going to Tampa to coronate Ron Paul. That is a fact too many didn't understand.

With 14 open seats, I sure would LOVE to have you sitting next to me. Imagine what WE could do. We can. Take a seat.

Yes, I am bound in CA to support whoever the GOP nominates, and let me tell you about that. Because they ALL know I'm a Ron Paul Republican, the fact I never bash Romney, follow the rules, respect and esteme the rules, show them respect, I am winning them over with Ron Paul's message.

I sincerely believe Romney was selected because they fear that Ron Paul Republicans will take those seats and get the POWER to actually make changes. Romney is a foil, so Obama, who is so much like Romney, will remain in power, which empowers the Democratic seats LOCALLY and renders us to driftwood.

So, it's not just about Ron Paul, but it's about Ron Paul Republicans seated, and fighting, to make Ron Paul's message a reality, Ron Paul or not.

Peace be with you, and your children, friend!!

Granger

I replied to your reply to me and included what I now put below in this stand alone post because you and everyone else needs to see it.

Please stop saying that Ron Paul voted for Bush. HE DID NOT!

From Meet the Press, Dec 2007
Q: George Herbert Walker Bush, according to the Nov. 1996 Ron Paul Political Report: “Bush is a bum.” And asked about the current President Bush, whether you voted for him in 2004: “Paul says no: ‘He misled us in 2000.’” Asked if you voted for Bush in 2000: “No, I didn’t vote for him then, either. I wasn’t convinced he was a conservative.” And actually, in 1987, you submitted a letter of resignation to the Republican Party: If Reagan’s a failure, Bush 41 is a bum, you didn’t vote for Bush 43, and you resigned from the Republican Party, why you running as a Republican candidate for president?
A: Because I represent what Republicanism used to be--that part of the Republican Party that used to be non-interventionists overseas; when the Republicans defended individual liberty and the Constitution and decreased spending. So the reason the Republican Party is shrinking, why the base is so small, is because they don’t stand for these ideals any more. So I stand for the ideals of the Republican Party.

Please don't use GOP spin here.

I responded to this below and want to say again

I was wrong. Ron Paul is associated with his committee but he is not BOUND like I am. I did not understand that. Please forgive me for my error. I stand corrected and with you: Ron Paul did NOT vote for either Bush!

Wouldn't our energies be better spent working to

dissolve the federal government. It should be clear that citizens can't control it. The corrupting influence of money trumps voters every time. Voting is just theater to deflect the mindless public into thinking the federal government operates for them instead of seeing the truth that it operates for the politicians and those who can afford to pull their strings.

I don't see anything good coming from centralized government. If we need a greater defense effort than can be mounted by State government alone, then alliances are the answer, just like the US had alliances with other political entities to fight WWI and WWII, or when the 13 Colonies formed an alliance to fight King George.

Whether or not it is obvious to you now, the cost of centralized government is becoming prohibitive, and as industrial output declines under the weight of increasing energy costs and the present system of government plunder and control there will be less and less to fund the insane extravagance of big government; it will fall of its own weight, no matter what we do, but the sooner it goes away less damage will be done to our lives.

Infiltrating the beast will change the infiltrator as much, if not more so, than changing the beast. The nature of government is what it is, and you just can't make it the defender of liberty, no matter how hard you try; that is not its nature.

If you can't resist the self generated compulsion to vote, vote for the one who will bring the most repression and economic destruction. This will bring the treatment of the disease sooner, that treatment being revolution.

"Bend over and grab your ankles" should be etched in stone at the entrance to every government building and every government office.

How?

How?

No...no...no

You will NEVER be their equal in their eyes... they will encourage you to vote, even try and guilt trip you to vote for Romney, all the while, promising a seat at the table that WILL NEVER COME if we give in now...

The Conservative and Rockefeller repubs HATE libertarians, I mean HATE...

But, they are becoming increasingly aware that the younger voters are shifting away from them, and their die hard supporters are, well, passing on..

They need our support, and they need to start offering better candidates that we'll vote for if they want to win. Not to put up the usual suspects, and then promise us power in the future if we'll go along now... it will NEVER happen if we do it that way.
