Texas...Am I the only one?

Am I the only one that wonders what in the world is happening with Texas delegates? Has anyone heard the outcome? I believe this is being kept on the down low for a reason, but I'm not exactly sure why. Any thoughts on this?

A Tree Fell In The Forest...

I was not there.
I did not see it.
I did not hear it.

Drawing my own conclusion after reading the previous posts on this thread, I believe;
A tree fell or rather, was felled in Texas.

Neither was the first one.

A few of us Nevadans are staying at the TX host hotel in Tampa,

the Saddlebrook. They gave us a better rate than our own state host hotel. So, we hope to be riding the bus with you to the convention hall. Louisiana is staying at Saddlebrook, too.

My brother-in-law was there and he said

Lots of Romney delegates changed their minds at the last minute and went with Paul and they want to keep it on the DL. He thinks we got over 40% for sure and hopefully close to 60%.

I was a State Delegate

I was a state delegate, and the campaign specifically asked us to clam up.

I can tell you about the process for Texas though.

Every state normally has a slate of delegates. That they chose in 1 big convention.

Texas chose National Delegates based on congressional districts. Each CD was responsible for 3 delegates, 3 alternates, and 1 At large Nomination.

There were over 30 CD's, each one acting independently of the other. With 1 person organizing the state delegates in each one.

No one was outright vocal about their affiliations to Ron Paul, as that would have been detrimental. Every delegate wasn't chosen because they support Mitt Romney. But, instead they were chosen based on how long they have been a Republican, and what types of things they have done as volunteer. Being a precinct chair, republican club membership, etc.

What I can tell you is that our Chairman Steve Munisteri said this at the convention, which was a huge victory. Skip ahead to about 4:50 Sec.

The Ron Paul campaign near the end said they did better then they had predicted.

However, I cannot provide exact numbers of delegates, as the campaign is playing it close to the chest.

On an unrelated note, Steve Munisteri did an excellent job, and was very fair and impartial. This was agreed upon by all of the other RP supporters I ran into.

I'll provide whatever else I can, if interested.

We did ok. Mixed results from

We did ok. Mixed results from what I could tell.

Tampa should be interesting, lets leave it at that!

About six weeks from now

it will be revealed.

Hang On, Sloopy .... Hang On!

Put it this way, if Romney swept all our delegates...

...it would be all over the news. I'm looking at it as a positive thing. Shhhh.

No you are not the only one.

No you are not the only one. I have been wondering about it too. Texas being the largest(?) and it being Ron Paul's home state, I have been trying to get the delegate details.

It's usually a good sign

when it goes quiet. The only things known (based off an account of someone who was there):

- We did well
- We do not have a plurality

Not necessarily true

First off, there are 155 elected delegate spots at stake, as well as alternates.

There are basically three kinds of Ron Paul delegates:

--Those who ran as Ron Paul supporters and the merits of his platform,

--Those who are currently holding positions in the TX GOP and so ran on their own reputation (holding to a platform identical to the Ron Paul platform)

--Those who were establishment Republicans in Texas who were originally supporting the "consensus" candidate, Mitt Romney, but upon hearing the good doctor at the convention, changed their mind.

There are three things to remember that this stage of the game:

1. In other threads, there was a voiced concern that if we published how many delegates we know ourselves to have vs. the number that the establishment thinks were elected, it might put many of those in jeopardy.

2. It was reported on here that the State Chairman admitted that they could not bind any delegate to vote for a particular candidate. Maybe someone who was there and heard it can chime in.

3. You don't show all your cards in the middle of the game.

Ahh..I do see your point. I

Ahh..I do see your point. I do believe this being kept secret is to our advantage. I can hardly wait to see what unfolds in August!!

Yep,

You aren't the only one. But truth is, maybe it was a good idea to keep things hush, because in all the other states where Paul got the delegates, they are replacing them :(
