Reminder: TSA still asking women to “Raise your skirt”

No, women still haven’t gotten used to this TSA practice. And it’s still offensive, humiliating, degrading, and makes being a woman an unfortunate preexisting condition (thanks, Nancy!). The TSA asked a female passenger at Philadelphia International Airport this morning to raise her skirt after she passed through the metal detector. The passenger who is in her mid-40s and a frequent flier was preparing for a domestic flight at 8:15 AM. As a seasoned traveler who flies weekly for business, she explains:

“As I got towards the front of the queue there was one agent checking boarding passes and IDs while many other agents stood around or talked to him instead of moving people through. There were about 200 people waiting at any time to move through. So now I make it to the security zone. I quickly remove my light jacket and slip on shoes. I already had my toiletries and laptop out. I am trained and know the routine. I am wearing only a t-shirt and knit skirt. I was wearing less than most doctors visits require. As I stepped through the metal detector I was shocked as the agent asked me to raise my skirt.

You at least have to buy them diner first.

There is nothing strange about having a bar of soap in your right pocket, it's just what's happening.

Patriot I see your point in wanting to cheer us up with a joke

But this is serious...this is about 'gradual boiling of the frog'

It's outright creepy

It's outright creepy. Back in the 50's and 60's all women wore skirts and dresses. Wonder how the greatest generation of men would have reacted to all this - seeing their wives, and daughters, and mothers, and grandmothers being forced to lift up their skirts, for strangers, to the point of exposing their underwear.

We could stop this if everyone who wasn't required to fly for business simply DIDN'T FLY, if instead of going on cross-country or overseas vacations, people travelled more locally or stayed home. STATES would complain to their senators and Congressmen. COUNTRIES that rely on American tourism would put pressure on Washington. CORPORATIONS would complain to their buddies in office - corporations directly and indirectly related to the airline/travel industry, including banks and oil companies. (Think the banks have any clout in Washington?) Nah. Never happen. Media & technology have programmed us to expect instant gratification; no one's putting off any vacation. And most are already accustomed to the loss of rights and the indecency.

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.

Thanks

I wonder why there are no mass protests.
Starting say at the Boston's Logan airport.
